Has anyone had problems mailing in a winning ticket to a sports book in Vegas? I placed a super bowl bet at Aria last week but there's no guarantee I'll be back in Vegas within 120 days. I'm planning on mailing it in for payment but just wanted to know if anyone had any warnings or suggestions.

The clerk did tell me that the 120 days is just their legal obligation but he's never seen them deny payout on a ticket that was redeemed within a year. So I'm not beholden to the idea of having to mail it in but would like to get it out of the way if its an easy process.

I've done it several times with no issues. I don't recall how quickly I got paid, but it wasn't long enough to have me questioning if I was going to get my money. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just follow the instructions on the back and you should be fine.

Might be a little apprehensive about waiting more than 120 days, though. I recall reading on the wizard of odds site a couple years ago how someone had trouble redeeming a slightly past due winning ticket at the Stratosphere

Funny you mention that one. When I was at Aria talking to the clerk about this and he was telling me at MGM properties they don't make a fuss about redeeming old tickets he actually mentioned a case at The STRAT where they didn't honor an expired ticket and suffered a ton of bad press for it. I guess that story is pretty popular.

I would make a copy just for your records. Their system will know if a ticket has/has not been redeemed so in the case that everything fails, you still may have a way to get the money.

That said, I've had a few relatives send in tickets with no issues. It is annoying you have to pay a little extra to get it there. Even if the ticket doesn't say so, I highly suggest sending it registered mail.

FYI for next time. If you didn't purchase it because of a specific line, I would suggest placing bets with CET next time. All their sports bets are good for 1 year. I know this isn't possible at times, I just wanted to mention it. I've never bought a ticket from a Cantor Gaming book either, not sure on their time limits.

Great thread, I never knew you could mail in winning tickets. Thanks for the 411.

They will mail you payment within 6 six but most likely less. I wouldn't take a chance on redeeming the expired ticket on your next trip.

At a high end place, they're going to pay your bet at the window even if you're past due. Especially if you're staying there.

My friend made a bet on the 2006 BCS championship...$10 on Texas to win $100. He didn't go back until 2009. Caesars honored the ticket. They had to go back and physically look it up in a book.

I send back tickets every year. I have been late a couple times, but have always been paid. It's about a 2 week process from the time you send it until you get the check back

I've gotten paid several times with tickets and usually just send regular first class mail instead of registered mail. Never had any problems.

Make sure to send a self addressed stamped envelope too.

I sent my Super Bowl ticket last year with the SASE and they didn't use it. I got it with the perforated stub on it.

When I took it to the Post Office to send it Registered the clerk asked if it was Super Bowl winnings and laughed. He told me they usually have several each year bring them in the week after the game. He also told me he had been in Vegas the year before and was going to wager on the game until he realized that they really want you to send it Registered mail.

I just saw that I got my checks back today and they didn't use my SASE either.

I sent two tickets and the total amount coming back was over 1k so I was thinking about sending it registered but it seemed like such a hassle so I just sent it normal and it was no problem. Came back in like only 2 weeks.

One weird thing is I made the bets at Aria and the checks they sent me are made out from a CityCenter account. Not Aria Casino or MGM Resorts, but CityCenter.
