I currently have three nights booked at the Flamingo tied to my Total Rewards card. I'm trying to get the absolute best rate for my trip and want to check every day to see what the best rate is and once I get it, to pounce on it. However, whenever I log onto Caesars.com and search for the dates I specified, it tells me that I already have a reservation for the dates and that I need to search again for another timeframe.

How does everyone else go about searching for the best rate then canceling and rebooking?

You have to use the all casinos rate calendar option. Log into TR, go to reservations, select Las Vegas and then All Las Vegas Casinos. You will have an option for specific dates or the calendar. Choose the calendar, and you can see the rates/comps for any one month period. Based on that, you can decide whether to cancel your existing reservation and re-book. You won't be able to re-book until your first reservation is cancelled, I believe.

What Suekel said. Although if you are worried about canceling/rebooking and losing a rate you see, you can call up the reservations line and let them know what you are seeing and what you want to change it to.

So if a better rate pops up, I can just request the new one and they'll change it without any hassle?

    Generally, yeah.

This is assuming you booked through TR/the hotel directly in the first place. You can't get them to top a hotels.com rate or anything (then again you can't cancel those anyway).

In september two weeks before my trip (5 nights comp at Bally's) I saw 2 of those nights showing comp at Caesars, and in one <5 minute phone call I had booked the Caesars room for those 2 nights, and canceled those 2 nights at Bally's keeping the other 3.

this is great info as i had the same thing happen to me-the TR reservation blocks you from making a second reservation. Have gotten so lazy with doing things on line but i guess the old fashioned phone call can be better sometimes!

i will be calling th when i find a better rate. Seems they are having the Billboard music awards on May 20 and the rooms are sky high at most CET properties!! Weird b/c the awards are at MGM Grand.

But people will still stay at PHo and walk to the Grand.

Well, not exactly. My hit rate on calling TR and having them lower my reservation in 1 in 10. Every time I call, other than once, they say they cannot lower to the internet rate, as they are seeing a higher rate. I just end up cancelling and rebooking myself, I quit even bothering calling in.

I'm just paranoid that once I cancel the rate I have booked, then the rate I was looking at will magically disappear.

always that chance, but I have never had that happen. I noticed a rate drop last week, called and they said they were actually showing an increase and me losing one of the COMP days. It was a saving of $50, so I took the risk and cancelled and re-booked online and it was just fine.

How much do you think that rates will fluctuate in the next 75 days?

A lot! I booked 5 days in Jan. Three nights were COMP, but they were charging me like $30 for Fri. night and like $80 for Sat. I have been watching, they have gone up and down several times. I locked in at $18 for Fri and $48 for Sat, so saved quite a bit of $$$. They swing drastically.

Sounds good. I'm currently booked for three nights at the Flamingo for $325.00. Previously I was being offered COMP rooms for Thursday and then the prices started skyrocketing. I'll have to keep checking Caesars.com when logged out of mLife and seeing what pops up. I'm hoping to get the total room for under $200.

Called the Flamingo today and they shaved $105 off of my rate. That'll help pay for the ridiculous airfare that everyone is charging nowadays.

This is actually quite tricky if you used an offer. I had to come up with my own way of doing it. I had the same problem. I booked using an offer on total rewards. So when I went back to check the rates for the same days it wouldnt let me. So I tried to use the calendar, but I couldn't get the same rates because I couldnt use the offer again.

What I did: I looked at the rates for myself without the offer on the calendar. By doing this I just went to Las Vegas Hotels, Flamingo, and clicked on one of the offers I havent used. Once I was on the calendar I went over to the drop down box on the left with the offer. I go to exit offers. Then I kinda see what "my" base rate is. I never cancelled my reservation yet. I kept going back and checking to see what my "base rate" is. I saw that it went down for those dates. So I went back and cancelled my reservation. I then went back to my offer rates and see if they had dropped also. They had. And I booked again.

So what I did was use those "base rates" as a barometer. But yes it sucks you have to cancel just to see if your offer rates have dropped too. But it worked for me.

Odd thing is that the rep on the phone was seeing rates that were $3-5 cheaper than what was shown online.

One important reminder: If you booked before March 1st and you are comped for your stay, meaning comped AND no resort fee......you will have to pay the resort fee if you want to change hotels. I wanted to modify my Rio booking to Bally's, which i can, but i would have to pay $75 on a comped room.

I factored that in and I'm still coming out ahead.

I was just going through the same thing- The wife and I had some more play at the Horseshoe in Cleveland (CET) so I thought I would recheck our 4 nights comped (paying resort fee) at Rio. The first time I did it the site gave me 4 nights in the 1100sq' suite for a total of $186+RF, but it wouldn't let me book because of my other reservation. I was afraid to cancel my other res. so I called. "Sorry sir, $200/night". It must have been a glitch....Oh well- Come on $20 trick !

Yep, i was first told in Feb. that if i wanted to change Rio to Bally's i could modify my Reso and i would still pay no resort fees. But when i found out i couldn't, i decided to keep my Reso at Rio with no resort fees. The only reason i considered changing back to Bally's for next month was the location, i usually stay on the Strip, and Bally's was comped, but hopefully the Shuttle will be fine. Maybe even the RTC 202 bus to/from Rio will suffice.
