Lost ID- Need input

Today started my vacation from work, no better feeling then sleeping in and knowing I will be in Vegas on Monday. Come tonight my roommate and I are going to go hit some local bars, he also happens to be accompanying me to Vegas. Get to the bar and as we are both 21, they ID us, show them my ID and walk in to sit at the bar. 5 min go by and my buddy still isn't in there, so I walk back out and he's standing there he lost his ID. We rip apart the whole house and all vehicles can't find the ID!

We fly out Monday night, how are we going to get him on a plane,through security, and into casinos to gamble and drink!

Does he have a passport? One of those could supplement his state issued ID. Unfortunately, I can't think of anyway to get a new ID before the trip. What state are you in?

 

He doesn't have a passport or any other form of photo ID. I'm in Minnesota.

 

My son was on a trip and discovered his DL was lost. His insurance company faxed him a copy and the airlines accepted it so he could make his return flight.

 

Thanks will have to look into this, not sure if his insurance company has a image copy of it, but that would be great. I really believe the casinos will be harder then the airports when having a different type of ID

 

No ideas for replacement but did you check in the dirty laundry?

 

Yep, checked all pockets, inside of the washer and dryer as well.

 

He may be able to get into the DMV tomorrow. It looks like they are open til noon at a lot of locations. Have him get his birth certificate and SS card and head to one. They can print a temp card I would assume.

 

Thanks, I had looked at the DMV hours and it was closed on Saturday at one of the locations in the city, but I checked one of the other offices in town and it is open til 2 tomorrow, so keeping fingers crossed.

I will be able to go, but not sure if solo would be as fun of a trip!

 

I went through the same thing a few years ago, lost my license and ended up at the cop station trying to figure out how to get out of Vegas. Show your boarding pass to Vegas and a letter from the nice cops in Vegas saying that you came from here to there

 

Its not as fun solo, but in Vegas you can manage easily lol. If the hotel is in your name, you should have no problem there. The problem would be pit bosses and other casino staff. To date I've only been carded by one cocktail server and a pitboss. You get carded more often at the bar then while sitting at a machine or table.

I just did some research on the TSA website. They will accept two forms of non picture ID in lieu of a photo ID, those being your SS card and birth certificate. The airlines actually have no official policy(on purpose) for this, instead they evaluate each case and go from there. If you can print your boarding pass at home or at a kiosk it will help greatly. Having other things with your name in addition to your SS and Birth certificate such as credit cards will guarantee almost a smooth trip. They are much more relaxed for domestic flights, so your in luck there.

As for the Casino's, the FSE ones are much more relaxed about their policies so if you don't find a replacement ID; stick to downtown.

 

You can get on the plane even if you don't have an ID as long as you're American and this is a domestic flight. You'll have to go through a more thorough security screening at the airport though so budget yourself more time. I've met a few people who have had their IDs stolen or lost while in Vegas and they were still able to get home by opting for the more advanced screening. You can opt for the advanced screening anytime in lieu of showing your ID.

Now...gambling at the casinos...I don't think there is very much you could do about that

 

I was there for my 21st birthday this last summer, I was only carded once at the 4 Queens on the floor and one time in the high limit room at GN. He looks older then I do, so I think he should be pretty safe in the casino, except for if we want to go sit a bar.

 

Has he been to Vegas before? Got a players card? They should have your info on file.

I went to a NYE's party at the Hard Rock Casino last year. I didn't have my ID but they had a picture of my license in their system for the player's club. They printed out on a piece of paper a picture of my ID and I was able to use that to get into the club and gamble. It didn't work for Marquee at Cosmo, but Hard Rock let it slide.

 

Nope this will be his first trip to Vegas. I've had some casinos make a copy of my ID before, not sure why most don't though.

 

Some are really strict and won't do you a solid when your in a bind. The ones that are willing to photo copy your ID for you are probably the ones that won't give your buddy crap for not having his ID on him.

If you can make it into the DMV today try to get a provisional paper ID card from them. Not sure about your state, but our dis-functional DMV in Cali gives you a paper ID until its mailed to you.

 

Kind of Off-Topic but, what I want to know is what takes so long for an ID to get to you. When I had to renew my license at 21 I did it on my birthday and went to Vegas 7 days after and still didn't have my new one so had to walk around Vegas with a clipped license and the paper. I finally got it 3 weeks later. I have a TWIC card and it was presented to me on spot, it has my picture and security measures on the card so don't know what holds up the state from doing it at the DMV.

 

A lot of states have moved to centralized DL operations - to minimize cost, fraud (and at least in our state - theft of the materials from remote DMV offices to make fakes) Takes time for all info to go to a central office, be processed, and have the ID mailed back to you.....

Lots of places has photo I.D.'s

Here is a list: High schools, colleges, doctor's offices, hospitals, Auto clubs,
Insurance, where you work has a copy of your I.D., etc.

Just think about all the places that we use their services have our PHOTO I.D's.

I pack a copy of my birth certificate, passport and Driver's I.D.

In Vegas, My gold reward card was only approved with photo I.D. so they also have it in their files hopefully.

I live in CT. You get your dl while you wait at either the DMV or aaa. Weird that you have to wait.
