But from the casino's point of view, the "long run" is much shorter. They have many players playing many games, and that cuts down the variance. And a casino doesn't max out its short run by telling people to stop playing. They would take most people's lifetime's worth of action is less than a month.

I can certainly by that there is a risk aspect in the highest players, where a few big wins could move the overall financial performance line. But that would not explain why the lines are relative to average bet. One 100k bet isn't killing the casino, even in a game with odds. Plus you can give the player the line but they still need approval to raise the table limit to bet it all at once.

Some day I hope to pick your brain on that area of expertise. Hopefully at a VP bar at Cosmo with a double Goose on the rocks.

Day Five (I think, getting to the blurry stage now)

Must have had some bad seafood for lunch yesterday, only had the seafood cobb salad at the country club restaurant, so was up all night around the porcelain goddess...see now if I was drunk at least I would have had fun....but this wasn't very fun. That's why I was replying to my trip report all throughout the night...sigh.

By the morning, everything cleared up and I felt tired, but good to go. Headed to the Baccarat room because I basically skipped it yesterday and my table must be wondering where I was. The shoe was pretty bad, didn't get anything going. Hit some big hands just to stay down, left the table down 50k. (At least I stuck to my limit today).

Took mom to Cosmo to have lunch with my Korean hosts there (hehe, somehow I'm with the Korean hosts there, I asked them about it and they were very flustered as to how to answer, but basically asked me am I not satisfied with their service in a plaintive way....guess I am).

Milo was the restaurant, pretty good seafood...hope it stays down today. Very reasonable priced for a casino restaurant, I think I am used to the Wynn and Bellagio overcharging for everything....

They gave me a wrap around suite with two bedrooms on the 69th floor just to charge stuff to, so I took some photos. They asked if I wanted to take the penthouse, so I took more photos and declined....since I'm too lazy to move.

Since I've lost for two days in a roll, decided to use some secret magic tricks of mine to change my luck, and it worked. Came back down to the Cosmo Talon room, and started playing baccarat. In the beginning it was pretty choppy, rapidly depleting my stack by about 50k so I played some blackjack while waiting for a new shoe...

Did pretty good too, bought in for 25k, played 1k each on two hands, add 1 if I win. Got them both up to 5k when I lost, bet 100 for the dealer on each hand too, so made 25k during that shuffle.

Went back to the baccarat shoe, and it came p,b,b,p,b,b,p,b,b, I was a little gunshy at baccarat, but managed to win 3 bets of 28k each on the 2nd bank. Of course at this moment my Korean host comes to pat me on the back, which is a big no no for Chinese gamblers because back has the same phoenetic sound as bad luck, so on the fourth 2nd bank I pulled back to 12k, and lost it promptly.

Overall, did a real short session, and ended up up 49k.

    So Cosmo total

    Time : 3:!6
Avg bet :5,367 (must be all the 1k testing bets or they do something weird with free hands)
Theo : 13,931 (seems that Cosmo is slower....)
Win : 73,900 (that's a lot of tips since I only won 64k so far)

    Wynn

Time : 12:01 (I can quit at any time or start a fresh trip)
theo : 96,105 (might want to go for 100k or 125k though)
win : 94,600 (haha still in my favor, actual win is 110k + some cash)
avg bet : 8,742 (I think my 1k testing bets on certain games are bringing the avg lower, also played pai gow with mom at 300 bucks a hand, oh well don't really matter, theo is the important part)

1st bunch of photos are the penthouse, 2nd bunch are of the wraparound

    Excellent Update!!!

Have you normally started new trips in the middle of a visit? I understand why you would since you are up, but I'd think Wynn would look down at this and affect you later.

Thanks for the Cosmo pics. I'll be staying there next week. Maybe not the Penthouse but still in a nice suite anyway. I am loving your TR.

What floor is the 69th floor actually? The building isn't that tall. Nice win at Cosmo today. Good to see the steady gains even if they have been volatile.

They know I jump around, as long as they are number 1 on the list they don't worry about it. They only care about theo, not win/loss. The other casinos want to be number 1 on the list so they keep showing me rooms.

Being the first stop and where you are actually staying allows the casino to get more of your action.

Congrats on getting to 12:00 at the Wynn without giving them any of your money!

I think the smaller bets are wise until you hit a real hot streak. So far it seems like your wins are from the short sessions at games you don't usually play (roulette and blackjack).

Those big bets on cold streaks that have been saving you from big losses are bound to go the other way at some point. I'd rather have big money out when the table is hot than when it is cold.

You are right! I should bet small until I hit a hot streak...

    +1 to this!

Since you only need to hit about 30k more in theo at Wynn in order to get 22k in airfare it actually makes sense to give them your action even though you've reached your time requirement. Unless you still get the same % for airfare at this lower theo, then it doesn't matter.

We have Estiatorio Milos in NYC as well, it was right near my old office and I went there a few times. Its good here too but if they're opening a Greek restaurant in Vegas I wish they went for one with a menu of more inland type of traditional Greek food. Instead of what amounts to good but fairly standard seafood.

This seems like par for the course from the way everyone describes Cosmo and their incompetence on the casino side of the business.

At 100k theo it is 400k level or 5 tickets = 17.5k or 18k I think..., so if I'm going for 125k theo it will be only for 3% of the extra 100k front money + one ticket = 6-7k more I believe. But since this is the only place I can play craps and I have a ton of friends coming in this weekend, I think I will get there. The key question is whether to continue playing after the 125k theo since the next stop is 250k theo.

    Advantages to 250k theo are

    1. Jet ride round trip
    2. Extra 11k (not really that great)
    3. Auto free advance in most tournaments or special drawings
    4. All tips get picked up from room (about 5-6k)

From pure math perspective not worth it since I have 3 other properties to work on; from entertainment perspective I have to keep playing craps so this is the only place I can play. Curse you MGM!

It's not like you're going home in a couple days - you've got time to sit back and wait for it to happen.

Of course, it's easier said than done when you've been on a cold streak and one big bet can get you back above water.

    Natedog,

Stick with Wynn. You have managed NOT to give them any of your money so that in itself is a feat! Also since you enjoy craps so much and you can''t play at Cosmo, that should give you another reason.

    Keep up the good work!

I know you get higher limits on craps but are you still only allowed 3-4-5x odds?

Yes...better than Crown Melbourne, only 2x odds there.

I would push past the 125 level....you will start to feel obligated to make it and chasing the number is often a terrible thing. The craps play now and then throughout your trip will put you to the 125 level pretty easily, I'd focus on working the other properties and maximizing those programs on the bacc play.
