From TMZ a few hours ago

I think she would be a perfect fit for PH

Britney Spears is in "serious talks" to move to Las Vegas and headline a "Celine" type show -- TMZ has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell us ... Britney and her people are talking about establishing residency for the singer in Sin City and are also in talks with one of the hotels to do a "big, nightly show."

We're told the negotiations are with one of the CAESARS group properties, and they have "been wooing her for awhile."

As we first reported ... Britney has cleared the decks by quitting "X Factor" and is in the studio recording her 8th album.

Our sources say there is "a lot of interest" in Britney's camp over a Vegas move, and -- obviously -- a lot of interest on the Vegas side of headlining a show.

Celine Dion scored nearly $100 mil a year for her gig. Our sources think Britney could do even better.

TMZ has been feeding lies to the press, courtesy of Britneys publicity machine. Brit was about to be let go from X-Factor. They allowed her the opportunity to leave and claim it was her own decision. Ratings for the show dropped dramatically since she came aboard, and the show was ordered to cut expenses or face cancellation. And since she was paid $15 million to just sit in a chair and listen to actual singers show their skills, it was an easy chop. She never even performed a song like her contract required. The closest she got to one was struggling through an awful backstage performance of "Happy Birthday":

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0d4kNGvdNVg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I agree that PH would be a good fit. She loves Vegas anyway, and was always causing trouble while there, getting into fights with paparazzi at the Wynn, getting drunk with Criss Angel, and staggering through her big comeback at the Palms in 2007.

She'd bring in a big crowd, but it would probably lead to a relapse of her mental breakdown. And since she's about to announce the breakup of her engagement to her manager/conservator Jason Trawick, these will be troubled times. (Update: she announced her breakup a few hours after I posted this. That's him next to her in the video above).

If the show happens at all, it'll more than likely be a rocky road.

i could see the younger, weekend crowd of 20- and 30-something women who grew up listening to her, and the 20- and 30-something gay men who grew up listening to her having interest in her show. would she be as big of a draw as celine or elton at caesar's? doubt it. but she'd have enough of an audience to justify her residency. would it be big enough to satisfy her ego? good question.

that will teach me to make assumptions. i just assumed that you weren't part of the 20- and 30- something crowd i spoke of. i thought you were older than that demograpic. my bad.

Though not 20-30 or gay, put me in the crowd that can "tap a toe" to some Britney!!! Don't know if I'd go see her, but my kids were of the age when she was BIG and her songs were ALWAYS playin' around the house. Not bad to look at either... Her "dark" year(s) were kinda awful to watch, but seems like she's back on the "up & up" again.

when you mention tapping a toe, why is it that i think of larry craig?

now back to your regularly scheduled program:

she's what, all of about 30. she got a start at a young age, sold tons of CDs and still has a significant following, although i'm puzzled by it.

as we see more artists gaining residencies in vegas, it's not surprising that they're starting to skew younger.

i bet we see a lot more of these in 2013. it's like 6:5 blackjack, if one casino determines it's a good idea, many will follow.

how long before we see a justin bieber residency? and i'm not joking when i ask that.

Not a prob. I'll be 50 next month, but my musical tastes skew on the young side. That being said, most of the gay men in our age group prefer singers who can actually sing. But the trending towards big name residencies is wonderful. So where the heck is Tina Turner? Donna Summer would have been awesome.

If she does end up in Vegas I'd be willing to bet the majority of people who go to her show will say it's not very good. Even though Brit has always been criticized for being a lip syncer (and rightfully so) she supposedly always put on a great show. As she got older and into trouble she became incredibly lazy. You saw that in her performances as well. Any time she had to perform on a show she always looked lost and unmotivated to be there. She still seems like that person to me. She doesn't seem passionate about anything...she seems medicated.

I think Britney could put on quite the production, but I'd only pay the big bucks to see someone who can actually sing, and who is actually singing in the show (harder and harder to come by these days). Cee Lo can't sing but is kinda entertaining and seems to be able to sell tickets in Vegas.

Even if she were singing topless I wouldn't see this trainwreck. Now if she took over headlining duties at Peepshow I'd have front row tickets.

How about we get some rock bands to do residencies in some of the smaller theatres around town. Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, the newly reformed Soundgarden, etc. Guns N Roses is a joke with it really Axl and his hired guns. Def Leopard....shouldn't they be playing down on Fremont with the rest of the hasbeen 80s rockers?

Her kids are pretty close to school age now. And she's kind of fragile. I think a residency would be a good way for her to keep working but have more stability and keep the kids in school and stable. Another talented but fragile performer who should have a residency in Vegas is Susan Boyle.

That's not a bad idea. She could play opposite nights from Taylor Kitsch at Bally's......he's gone from an announced few weeks to a few months' extension.

I think she is too much of a flake to be trusted with a residency. I see a lot of canceled shows. I think she would be a complete flop in Vegas.

2 of the worst nights of my life were at Britney Spears concerts with my kids. I know I am old, but that noise was just excrutiating. The effects were pretty cool though, and the kids loved it at the time. But they are mid-20's now, and have moved on and have no interest in her whatsoever. I wonder who her audience actually would be?

Now, Stevie Wonder is a great idea! That man puts on an amazing show and leaves you feeling joyful. We took our son at 17 and he also thought it was a great show, and I know he would see him again as would I. That's an entertainer with a wide appeal!

She can call her new show Velvet Umbrella Circus.

"I need to get to Vegas, y'all. Let me in!"

I'm 30 something male that would hit on her. Maybe not sit through a concert though to close the deal. That would be asking too much.
