As I asked in this thread: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showpost.php?p=733715&postcount=59

I need a little assistance. I won't be in Vegas again until April, but this morning I saw this article:

Can someone confirm this for me?

And though I personally cannot confirm this information there are posts on other Vegas message boards where people are reporting WiFi in Bellagio and Mirage. When I read this story about property wide WiFi in the MGM properties this sort of made me rethink my stay this April, since all other properties charge for the service. This may be a game changer for many people and their choices for Vegas hotels.

I've had wi-fi at Aria, Mirage and Bellagio - but that was in my room using my iPad. I never tried it in the common areas.

I wonder what the speeds are like. I know the article said that convention goers could pay for high(er)-speed access.

Of course, at MGM you do pay a daily resort fee, which includes room internet. Adding the rest of the area is nice, though many people just get their email via their smart phone and 3G/4G coverage.

As to April - between now and then, anything can happen. Gold Strike (MGM) in Tunica has had inroom wifi for a while now. Noticed lately that they have extended into some other parts of the hotel. It does require you to login and approve whatever the fine print is. But, no charge.

I was there last week. It was 256kb for free for two hours at various locations. Mirage for sure. MGM and Bellagio iirc.
This was on the casino floor. Note that it was for just 2 hours, but I was able to reconnect when I was back a week later.

MGM Resorts International will be offering free Wi-Fi at eight of its resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, the company announced today.
There will be no fee or password required to access the wireless local area network (LAN) via smart phones, laptops and tablets.

I can confirm Bellagio had free 256Kb access for two hours time limit in the casino.

How long would it take to log into VMB, read new messages, and type this post on 256kb?

It was quite speedy. I wouldn't stream audio or video, but basic web surfing was solid.
