So on my recent trip to Vegas earlier this month I stayed downtown for a day. I took a stumble into The D to check out all the work that has been done and i noticed a few thing (some good and some that i found questionable). i just wanted to post my opinions and get the boards take on what they thought about the place.

*Overall--- the place looks really, really nice. Very clean and inviting.
*The bar (on the first floor)---- i liked the long bar with all the TVs.... it looked awesome. I just wonder if you could find a seat if there was a good game on.
*Drink service -- A+ service. I was playing upstairs at sigma derby and a couple of slots and the CW was definately on her A game.
*Table games --- Really multiple $25 table games???? downtown???? It seemed like nobody was playing at the tables and the place had a decent crowd (for 11am)..... what happened to downtown being the place to find low min tables?
Music ---- Whats the deal with the music blaring at the tables --- like the entire first floor is a party pit. (again i went in at 11am not 9pm)

So whats your take on The D?

Went in The D last march the weekend the Long Bar opened, during March Madness. Loved watching the games there, but HATED the too loud music. It was still a work in progress at the time and have not stayed since the days of Fitz. Will be back in March again, I hope they turn it down. Been watching rates but so far Plaza has had the best price so far.

    The D escalator

Over Halloween weekend I rode the new escalator from Fremont St. up to the Vue Bar. I am wondering if they regret putting it in. It had to cost a lot, and there was NO ONE riding it. We stood at the top with drinks, and there were maybe a half dozen people that came up it in that hour, and that was a busy Saturday night. There was a security person at the top with a clicker, counting people.

We were booked here a week ago. Really spiffed up the place. Loved the long bar. The room was also spiffed up nice. Done in red/black/silver. Had a Kureig coffee maker in the room for you coffee buffs. Like all the new stuff done. Music too loud at night. Hope it brings in new revenue for them

A friend is staying there next week, while I am at the GN. But they called to confirm something with ttheir reservation and found out that all the resturants on the 2nd floor are currently closed. No explaination was given...perhaps they are finally starting to renovate the 2nd floor???? I posted something on their FB page but no response was given in 3 days.

I love the looks of it but haven't stayed there since it was the Fitz. But I did notice as others have mentioned how loud the music now is 24/7. I like to be able to chat with the dealers and other players at the tables and found that very difficult now. Other than that, I'm a fan.

We stayed at The D two nights in August. The room had new carpet, flat screen, and very comfortable bed. The casino floor looked fresh and clean with the Long Bar. We didn't gamble there (no particular reason) and never even noticed the loud music when walking in and out. At least it wasn't bothersome to us. We would stay there again.

we stayed at the d in september and really enjoyed it.

the cafe` restaurant was still open then but they were already making changes to the menu that didn`t seem too popular.one thing that is so nice about downtown is you can just stroll over to magnolia`s at four queens or pretty much anywhere else.
the main floor casino was nice but we also thought the music was too loud.

the room was great and brand new but there was no coffee maker.

We also liked having a safe at The D so we didn't have to walk all around downtown, including to the El Cortez, with all our money.

It was fun going upstairs and playing machines that still dropped coins instead of tickets, but a good portion of the upstairs was blocked off for construction.

I found the Vintage Vegas section extremely disappointing. Other than Sigma Derby and some video poker slots, it looked like every other downtown casino. There are pockets of the El Cortez that are far more vintage than the D's Vintage Vegas.

But I do like the look of the long bar, and enjoyed my coney dog. I wouldn't call the music blaring, but it is louder than anywhere else downtown.

The coney dog place is its own restaurant on the other side of the casino from the long bar.

We checked out the D during the grand opening events and it was pretty packed but wow was that music LOUD! I didn't notice any $25 tables other than the mini bac table with one guy playing it. I don't think I'd enjoy baccarat with the music so loud.

I went in there last weekend. To me they are trying to hard to make it into a Strip style place. It is nice, don't get me wrong- but I like downtowns vintage feel.

The music for starters. To me it just had a "feel" of a strip style place. Like I said, it is nice- just not like Golden Gate or El Cortez feel to it now.

Ok was just curious. After the interview on Vegas Gang with Derek Stevens he made it seem like he had no intention of making it a strip like property. He seems to get what it takes to be successful in Fremont and is very vested in the success of the entire area.

Was there over the labor Weekend in Sept a couple months ago and was able to play some $3 black jack. It was only at one table (further row in the rear, closest the to the long bar) and had a great time. Had to wait for a couple spots to open up, but was glad to find low limits there.

I stayed at the D four nights in October and was impressed with the improvements. The room/bed/housekeeping/ etc. were excellent--had no complaints at all.

Had a good time in the Casino--really liked the Long Bar. The music is loud IMO-- first floor, but got used to it and also spent most of the time on the second level. Hope to be back in January.

I loved the vibe at the D. Didn't get a chance to play Bj which is a bummer. Spent a few hours playing Sigma derby drink service was fast.
