As a new, gold-level TR member staying in a comped room for the first time, do I have a chance to get room charges comped upon check-out if I did a good amount of gambling there? How does this work? Should I ask the check-out clerk or talk to a Total Rewards counter clerk?

Basically unless you are a super High Roller, you will only have the rewards credits applied that you have on your card. Always use your card when playing basically - although maybe avoid it if you are only playing 10 min on the last morning before you go to airport. They can do this st checkout.

Thanks. I guess there would be no benefit to charging stuff to my room then. I do know to use my TR when buying stuff for extra reward credits.

It never hurts to charge stuff to your room and check with the hosts when you leave to see if anything can come off. If you get on a big heater, you may end up gambling more than normal and generate extra comps.

If you charge it to your room and you don't get it comped, you can always pay it when you check out.

I would definitely charge to the room and then call at check out. I was just in Vegas and wish I had charged more to the room. I don't have a host and have never asked for an account review before, but I did this time. Not only did she take off all my charges (used up my RC's and then comped the balance), but said she wanted to be my host and to call her next time I want to make a reservation. Totally surprised since I did not think I played at that level. (Although I did go on a heater at the craps table one night for 10 points in a row...)

When you say to check with the hosts, are you referring to the clerks at the Total Rewards counter?

No, the hosts in the host office. You could ask the TR counter folks to put you in touch with the host on duty -- they'll know where to send you.

Certainly, you have a chance to get charges comped above and beyond RCs. The threshold seems to be if you earn about 1000 Tier points per day to get anything at all in the way of discretionary comps. 2-3000 tier points per day will earn you SUBSTANTIAL discretionary comps, several hundred dollars worth in fact.

Speaking with the TR clerk will not help with this--You do need to speak with a host--if you do not have one, just call the operator from your room and ask to be connected with the casino host. Ask them to look at your play to see if they can pick up any of your charges. If you have not played enough, they will tell you, and it will cost 30 seconds of your time. If you have--your charges will magically disappear.
