I know this seems like a dumb question on the surface, because we all want MORE, but lets be realistic - once I get there and do it up... by that 3rd morning I am starting to feel a little battered.

My last two trips, I did 3 nights. I had 4 nights booked for one of them, but me and my friend both just had to scale it back to 3. It was December though, didn't have a pool retreat at the time.

This time I just feel like I want the 4th because it gives the flexibility to spend an entire evening Downtown, instead of rushing it in PLUS I really want that Saturday night in Vegas as opposed to leaving Saturday to get the cheaper flights. Its an extra chunk of change to do the Sunday departure as you all know.

What is your guys preference? Do you just need 3 nights, or do you like to up it an extra night..

I have tried 3, 4, and 5. I have found 3 too short, never get everything in and feel rushed. I tried 5 and it was honestly too long for me, I love LV but it was just too much. 4 is my sweet spot, it allows me to get everything in without feeling rushed, but I dont feel like I have been there too long.

I've done as little as 3 nights and as many as 7. The thing is, I am just as wore out on a 3 day trip as 7. The reason why is that when I only have three nights in Vegas, I'm going hard all three nights. Drinking, gambling, little sleep, drinking, etc. On my 7 night trips, I know I have plenty of time to do whatever I want, so I spend more time relaxing around the pool, usually have a night or two in the middle to call it an early night and relax in my room, etc. I also usually throw in a day trip that eats up most a day for me. For me the ideal amount is probably 5 nights. Long enough that you're not trying to cram too much in, but those 7 day trips you still need a big bankroll as you still will wind up at the tables a lot.

I don't think there are many here that go to Vegas for 7 nights and are balls to the wall the whole 7 nights like those who hit Vegas for the weekend do. Having the extra time let's you feel like you can slow things down a bit.

4 for us. We have done 5s, but that last day is just too much. We would never do 3, not worth the travel/airport hassles. So, for us 4 is perfect.

I prefer 5 nights, but 4 at the least. The flight is relatively long and airfare is way too expensive to only stay for 3 nights.

This is a good point. In the last year airfare has went from around a $250 average for me, to currently being closer to $400-450 for me. Granted in the grand scheme of things $200 more isn't much (probably 1/2 hour at the tables) but it still makes it hard to pull the trigger on three day long weekend type trips.

Flying from the east coast with no direct nonstops makes you tired the first day and takes all day the last day.I like to spend 8-9 days, without worrying about rushing anywhere, anytme.....get up when I wake, eat when i get hungry.....see a show when I get the inkling.....you get the pic!

3 nights is just right for me. My first trip to Vegas was 5 nights, and it was too much.

I average several trips per year with 7 or 8 nights being the optimum stay. Like others have said, travel time, expense, and hassles are a big part of the equation.

Somehow I seem to agree with everyone's points here, even the ones that contradict each other.

It never seems like enough, but I also go full bore to try to squeeze as much Vegas in as I can, no matter what the time limit. I was just talking to my buddy about taking a slow (read:sober) day on our next trip, just to keep the batteries charged and maybe see some things we normally wouldn't. Last trip on the last day I was so out of it I just couldn't think straight, even without the booze.

I know I was not making sense, but I can remember only one funny highlight.

As I was drying my hands in the restroom, something seemed a little off. Why was drying my hands so difficult? And then it hit me. I had gone through the hand-washing ritual (something I have done several times a day for over 3 decades) missing one ingredient. Water. Uhhhhhh....... :goofy:

7 nights. We like to drive around looking at different things. This breaks up the gambling a bit. I still play a lot of craps, though!

Coming across several time zones makes your last night a short one, because of an early departure going home. Five nights, leaving the morning of the sixth day, is ideal. With the time change working in my favor the first day, I arrive well before check-in time, and get the benefit of a full day of activity. You also get the price advantage of mid week on the hotel rates. Another plus for the five day stay.

Yeah I dont know if I could handle a week stay, unless I was with the best group or person you really could enjoy that with - or alone sadly.

Looks like I will do the 4 nights, getting there early on my first day. Will give a little time to do some things I haven't done on the past trips. I need to see the Titanic exhibition, would like to go check out Riv/Circus Circus only because I have never been (not that I am missing a whole lot), spend a full evening downtown, and go check out the Pawn shop.

I went to these last month because I hadn't been to either in over a decade. They were disappointing even for my very modest expectations.

Because we fly in from the east coast our usual stay has lately been 10 days.

3 doesn't seem like enough - but 4 can end up being too many. I did 4 last time, back down to 3 this time.

We only go once a year so 6/7 nights for us. Airfare, rental car are too expensive for us to go more. Travel makes me sick so it takes me until day 3 to feel human. I did a 3 nighter once and will never do it again, the travel involved is just too long and exhausting for me to stay that short a time. That being said, "Your" way of doing Vegas can play into your decision. I am not a partier, I can see those who live closer/ go more often and party the whole time ready to drop dead after 3 nights.

9 nights works out well coming from Florida. Even that doesn't seem like enough as the misses and I are never ready to leave Vegas. As a matter of fact on the last day of our trip we both sort of mope around and don't say very much. On several occasions we have actually tried to extend our stay but the air fare was too much. lol
