Using Another Players Hotel Comp Question

I am planning a trip in December and my sister in law is offering me her 3 night comp at a mid strip hotel. (She will not be coming with me)

She said that she would make the reservation with both our names, and then I would be able to register and check in to the room.

Has anyone else done this? Does it work?

I would hate to get denied and then have to go search for a last minute room. Maybe I could make a back up reservation just in case.

I've read others on the forum who have gotten rooms for their friends but they were their to register for the room.

 

I think you are SOL. I've added other people to a comp when I had no intention of using the room after I double booked, but I had to check in to get the comp. Saying they were arriving before me still would NOT allow them to check in.

Adding the other name allows others to charge to the room, or get a replacement room card etc.

At least that is how it works downtown at Boyd properties.

Yes, with the key there being that the person for whom the offer is for is actually there at the time of check in.

So what would work is if your sister was also going if she booked the room in her and your names and then she checked both of you in and then gave you both room keys.

Since the offer is in your sister's name what will almost certainly happen is when you get to the front desk either:
a) they will tell you to come back when your sister arrives
or
b) they will let you check in but at the standard rate, then when your sister arrives she can come to the front desk, prove her identity, and then they will modify the reservation to the one she was sent the offer for.

But since your sister will technically never arrive that trip...

You have to remember: with millions of visitors to Las Vegas every month this isn't some new ingenious plan you two have come up with, its probably something each hotel sees attempted multiple times every day.

 

Sorry, but your answer is very confusing and only right part of the time. Not sure why you say she has to have a room at two properties.

Better way to say it is that SHE must check in, then give you the keys. She can also check in, and add your name to the room. Either way, she has to be there. Where she decides to stay does not matter unless she were to stay at a sister property. We have booked at room at other properties/groups multiple times for family and friends. But, they can not go there and use our comps without us.

Meanwhile, if it is your sister, and she trusts another female that may look something like her, that person could use your sister's ID and credit card to check in. Not saying it is legal, but it can be done.

 

Another thing you should both consider is how her non-play there may affect her comps as well. Even if you use her card, you would need to bet at her level, not to negatively affect her rating.

 

I don't see ow you would get a room without her being their. Just pay for a room you can afford.

 

Do you look anything like her? If so, if you have her ID and a credit card, it would work. You'd just have to pretend to be her when checking in.
(note: I am not condoning this activity).

Does she have a COMP account at the casino or is this something she got in the mail?

If she does not have a casino host, then I would say you cannot use the COMP.

I am allowed to call up the Palms and make reservations for others and have it taken out of my comp. I arrange this through the host and it works fine. The payment for this comes directly out of my COMP account. I have done this multiple times where I have stayed at my home while my friends have gone to Las Vegas.

The reservation is made under their name and my name. I do it this way so when I call up I can check to make sure everything is going copasetic for my friends.

They do have to give their credit card when checking in for room charges. I won't cover their room charges.

 

Yes, some people have been able to do this via their host. I am guessing those that have accomplished this are at a fairly high level of play.

And they will not be looking at the ID like the TSA will. BUT I have had them check the signature on the credit card very closely - so if poster doesn't pay attention & doesn't sign to match they might question her.

Maybe. I stopped signing credit cards some 10-15 years ago. Maybe more. Those little spaces they give you, and a slick surface make it close to impossible (for me anyways) to sign it anywhere near my normal scribble.

We charge maybe $4-$5k a month and never had an issue with the signature being checked. Maybe about 3% of the time somebody says something about you should sign it. When we call in to activate they usually say that.

Actually, Paris let this happen. I added my mom to the room and she checked in and out without me ever being there. so depends but not worth the risk IMO. I was in vegas, just didn't wanna go down there at the moment they wanted to check in..

 

I did this at Aria and they let my friend check in for me under my comp. I just told them that he would be there before I arrived(which was true). I emailed reservations or vip services I think and they wrote back that while they normally dont allow this, that they would make an exception and let my friend check in. It worked out great and I never had to check in and went straight to the room. So I would try to get it figured out before hand instead of showing up not being sure if you can use the room or not.
