The night before we were due to leave, I went to the Mlife desk at Aria, to have some of my point-play converted to free-play, she said that would be no problem, so we (my husband and myself) were on our way up to the room, when my step son calls and says some lady from some mlifer place...lol just called the room and needs you to go see her, so back down on the elevator we go, she said I just have a question? she said did you dine at the Rainforest Cafe (MGM) 3 times, while on your visit, she said "I see you are due to check out tomorrow", I said "no" our first and only meal there, since this visit, was this afternoon!! she said I kind of thought so, because I see the same charge for $97.60 3 times charged to your room!! I have to say she was the kindest person!! she had to call the MGM directly to get it taken care of, they credited the overage, I said I debated to have any of my point play converted, she said "I guess it was a good thing you did" I said I wouldn't have wanted to deal with this when checking out, since we usually check out via the TV She apologized profusely! " I said it's not your fault and you were kind enough to get it taken care of. It taught me, that from here out out, to double check my bill from now on.

I started doing this recently after reading a number of stories similar to yours.
Wasn't aware you can view the bill on the TV.
We actually do it each night to ensure no "special" charges.

I had a similar situation when staying at NYNY a couple years ago. I didn't notice a double-charge from America Restaurant until arriving home and looking through our "travel folder" (which we keep all receipts and billing statements in from our trip). It was a duplicate charge of around $35.:grrr:

It was my own fault for not checking it before we left the hotel, but rest assured---it will NOT happen on our next visit in February 2013.

Convert to free play? What is this all about? Am I missing something?

By the way, thanks for the heads up. Worth double checking the bill.

LV....I'm not sure about checking the bill on TV, what I was saying is we always check out via our room/tv, except for the past 2 trips, since we paid cash for any incidentals, so of course we would check out at the front desk, to get our deposit back. I'm the one who keeps receipts and such, my husband tosses everything out, he said I bet you'll be checking this from now on! I said "sure will". I thought by putting my experience on here, it may be a reminder for everyone to be careful and double check all charges before checking out, of course we would have known about it upon checking out the following morning, since I keep track of all expenses/budget.

nostress...yes you can convert point-play to free-play, I wasn't sure about this as well, until I went to the mlife desk and asked if I could convert some of my point-play to free-play, as I've heard previously that this could be done, the rep said sure! I said is this something I could do through the slot machine, she said no, it would have to be done through the mlife desk. This was at Aria. You know what's been my experience in having a players card/mlife with MGM INTL since like the year 2000, is that everyone gives you a different answer with mlife! I'm the kind of person that says to myself "Why aren't all these Mlife reps from all MGM properties put together in a room and give them all the same extensive training, so that everyone one of them will know what they are doing and have the same answer"! yeah I know "only in a perfect world"

With those touch screens and computers I guess sort of like double posting I bet someone just kept charging you!?!? You know Evoni had a similar situation at I think Bellagio and she caught it on the TV before check out. I hadn't ever checked crap I just leave! Not any longer....I think I'll check the TV and go down like you did and just ask when the desk isn't busy.

You know the server at the Rainforest Cafe said too me, "I'm gonna have to put it under your husband's name, since the other name had multiple names" I'm not sure why this is he said..ugh! I said "my name is "hyphenated" and it's put in the system that way, the hotel went by my ID, yeah I know what an idiot for having a hyphenated name, I'll be changing it soon, anyway I told my husband that should've been a flag for me to check the charge, however we had a copy of the receipt, the charges were correct. I feel when we have situations like this, it makes one a little more careful, whether it be Vegas or elsewhere while on vacation, it's a good reminder to everyone going on vacation to double check their bill/charges/etc.

Naah, I just forgot about it. It wasn't until a few weeks after we arrived home and I knew it was my fault for not checking sooner.

I didn't ask for it to be credited. Lesson learned.

I know about the point play to slot play that you do on the machine. Never heard about it for Express Comps.

If that is true, all of those with thousands of dollars of express comps should cash them out. What is the ratio? If I have $1,000 in EC, do I get $1,000 in freeplay?

Granted it's been close to a year, but I could have sworn that at the Aria I converted my point play to free play right on the slot machine.

Express comps can not be converted to free play.

The OP is confused and is confusing other people.

You 100% can convert points in to POINTPLAY right at the machine in any MGM Resort property, you do not need to go to the players club to do that.

I have converted points in to Pointplay right at the machine in EVERY single LV MGM resort property, I have never did this at the players club.

    1000 points= $10 POINTPLAY

Some MGM Resort machines even let you convert in 500 point increments= $5 POINTPLAY (I have done the 500 points= $5 POINTPLAY in the high limit room at MB)

Again, THERE IS NO NEED TO GO TO THE PLAYERS CLUB TO CONVERT POINTS INTO POINTPLAY.

That was confusing to me also. But a very good reminder. I ALWAYS room charge at CET hotels & then apply comps at check-out after I verify the charge list. In all of my trips I have only had one issue but it just served to reinforce to me that I was doing the right thing.

In November I had a split stay - normally you wouldn't have to check-out but since I did a room charge I knew they were going to run it on my CC that morning if I didn't go down & apply comps. In the middle of the night - around 2 a.m. I had stopped at the tiny shop at Paris by elevators to get some juice or KK donut holes in case my blood sugar got low. They couldn't get room charge to run. So they sent me across to ??leJournal (the bigger shop). She tried it 3 times & it wouldn't go thru. Another fellow had problems with his c.c. also. She figured they were doing their 'totalling'. So I just paid cash. When I looked on the screen the next morning I had at least 3 charges for the $3.95 or $4.95 item on my room charge summary. So I went downstairs & went to the check-out desk (with my receipt that said cash). He was very nice but had me go back to leJournal. They called the supervisor & she went thru the room charge slips for the previous night upstairs (downstairs? - wherever they hide!) & of course none for me. So they fixed it right away & I went back to check-out desk & he applied comps for the remaining balance.

It wasn't much - especially when you compare to what you spend at slots, but it would have been somewhere between $12 - $18 (can't remember exactly how many & how much) - that is basically breakfast for me or two full meals at Earl.

I always check the screen - at least every second day - to make sure everything is right. Had I just 'swiped' my card at the register vs. room charging it would have told me it failed but still taken it off my comp dollars. So I ALWAYS room charge.

Actually, the OP never talked about converting express comps into free play. She said converting point play into free play. Maybe that's not the correct terminology, but it basically means being able to use your points as free play, or point play.

I never said that she said you can change EC into Pointplay. I was simply pointing out to nostresshere that you cant do it. I did say the OP was confusing since her post was.
And you dont convert pointplay in to freeplay, with MGMR you convert points into pointplay.

Okay, this is where I was confused. Turns out nothing has changed.

You may get FREEPLAY as a promo and download that on the slot machine. As you play, you earn points that can be converted to slotplay. This is normally done right at the slot machine. These points are not the Tier points, or express comps points. Looks like the Mlife rep at Aria was wrong. It is possible maybe there was something goofy or special on the OP's account, or just the rep was stupid.

When I jumped it, I did not read closely and thought it was something I was missing. Turns out the only think I am missing is the $1,000 I brought to the casino with me.

Josie You got it right! Thank you! My express comps were never mentioned, also I only stated what the rep stated too me, about being able to convert my point-play into free-play, I never mentioned "activating" my free-play, the rep said when your "converting" not "activating" it needs to be done at the mlife desk. I've always just used free play I've never had my point play converted before, I'm just glad to know it can be done and my express comps in tact. Anyway thank you again.

The MLife rep that you interacted with is wrong. I'm in an MGM Resort on the Strip about 4-5 times a week. Mandalay Bay, Bellagio and Aria usually.

The points are converted at the slot machine at EVERY MGM Resort property that I have ever played at (I've played at and converted points at all of the MGM resorts in Las Vegas), there is no need to go to the MLife desk to convert and activate points in to pointplay.

Here is how it is done.

You go to a slot machine, put your card in, The machine will say
"Hello <Insert Your Name Here> we are finding your information". Then it will say "Welcome <Your name here>! Your point balance is 1234.

You then press enter or OK. Then it will ask for your pin code, Enter your pin code. The screen will then say Press #1 for Pointplay, Press 2 for Freeplay or press 3 for account balances (Freeplay and Express comp balances).

After you press 1 for POINTPLAY it will say press 1 to convert 1000 points in to $10 Pointplay, Press 2 to convert 2500 points into $25 Pointplay etc.

After you press #1 it will say "Press OK to confirm 1000 points to $10 Pointplay. After you press OK you will hear a shrill beep and the $10 in Pointplay will be converted AND activated.

Let's say you're at a penny machine. You bet 40 cents and hit nothing. 40 cents will then be subtracted from your pointplay total ($10 or $25 or whatever you converted and confirmed) and added to your machine cash balance.

Let's say you play 40 cents and win $1 on the spin or play. The $1 will then be added to your cash balance and then the amount of your bet (.40 cents) will be removed from the current amount of pointplay that was converted and activated and added to your cash balance in the machine.

It's actually an easy process. I could video it next time i'm at MB, The B or Aria if you'd like.

I generally prefer to use cash more than anything. Vegas hotels are know to over charge
