So I finished a trip back on the 5th. Stayed at MC for 5 nights, most of my play was at mLife properties (mainly MC and NYNY). I checked my balances pretty regularly, and it seems that my table play wasn't put up there, but my new addiction (Video Poker) generated a ton of TCs. I went from virtually none to over 30k in about 6 hours of VP on the last couple of days. Got about $20 in ECs, and about $5 in point play (no clue what this is).

All in all I went from Sapphire to Pearl, and about 40k away from Gold. Probably would have gotten there if I had stuck to VP and not played craps ($10-20 pass line, 2-3x odds behind, 2-4 units on 3 numbers) and BJ (roughly ~15-20 average bet). Oh well I had fun and came back with some cash in my pocket, though down for the trip.

So my question is, what realistically should I expect? Reduced rate? Comp room? Nothing? My next Vegas trip won't be until March, but I am probably hitting the Beau in Biloxi in late October for a Bday trip, that is unless the local poker room proves to be as profitable over the next month or two as it has been since I got back from Vegas.

The slots and V/P track accurately, and immediately. Play on tables requires a human to input it, and usually a fair amount of play. That probably relates to lack of points.

That $5 point play is for play on most slots and vp. Consider if like freeplay.

Offers? Hard to say. Will not be alot, but usually takes some time. And offers for next March? Nobdy can tell. The marketing machine revs us, and slows down often.

If you go to Beau, you make rack up some more play and better offers.

You won't get jack. Sorry. I'm Platinum and regularly put up 50 000 points on a trip and I seldom get any kind of offers. The current best offer I have is two free nights at MGM or lower end properties of 1-2 nights then casino rate. Thanks but no thanks!. I just phone a host at the property where I want to stay at and see what they will do. So far I am batting 100% with free rooms at Mirage and Bellagio. Phone em and see. All they can say is no.

Forgot to add I am normally a .50 or $1 VP player who occasionally gets drunk and chases on the $2 or $5 machines. I am batting .000 on those for qauds!

Gaggles, you and BeeJay are the reason I took a shot at VP. All I can say is screw you. I am freaking addicted now.

But thanks for the input guys. I really didn't expect much. Particularly after learning that I wasn't playing high enough at the table games to get rated.

I'm confused on this line. It seems by your recount you were playing (assuming at a $10 craps table) about $32-44 a roll. Would that not be enough to get you points/rated at MGM resorts? Or were you referring to the play on BJ

You should have earned WAYYYY more than $5 in pointplay with 30k earned points......

You sure that you didn't burn some of your accumulated pointplay?

Glad we could be of assistance and welcome to the demanding mistress known as VP. We are certain to lose in the long run, but those hits in the interim sure are sweet.

From what I understand, it was either that my pass line bet wasn't high enough (One boxman told me $25/min for any craps pass bet or BJ bet was the min) or that I didn't play long enough. Admittedly there were a couple of 20-30 minute sessions but for the most part I was at a craps table for an hour or 2 each time I played. I don't know if the place bets count or not.

There is a chance. However I am new to the rewards card's ways and wouldn't have known I was doing it when I did. Doesn't that require PIN entry? I don't even know my PIN....

Oh and Gaggles, she is a fickle mistress. I have a handfull of pics of Quads on my phone (mostly the triple play machine with the "Dream Card"), but in my 8 or so 4 card Royals I never hit that 5th card...

Yes, point play requires your PIN. If you don't know it, you haven't used any. Still, 30k points= a helluva lot more than $5 in point play. Something aint right here.

The only other thing that I think I could have gained TCs on was when I checked out. Total hotel charges were ~$1k. Everything else was gaming. I really only played VP, Craps (usually bought in for $300 and played as I said earlier), and BJ (same as craps)

I believe 1k in room charges is 25k tier credits so your gaming got you only about 15000 tier credits which is why the point play is so low

Did you go see a host before you checked out to get your room charges reduced?

Straight up $20 in ECs is not even $175 in theo. Not going to get you much. Sounds like most of your TCs were from retail.

And there is my lightbulb moment. Thanks guys! Knew I wasn't grasping something. so 25TCs for every dollar spent in room charges? Helluva a way to move up the chain without realizing it I guess...

Thought I'd give an update since I have seen others like me (low rollers, $2k or less per trip) asking questions.

In the past couple of weeks I have gotten an email from NYNY for 2 free nights based on their calendar through the end of February. Can only be used once. The offer includes $25 in Freeplay and 20% off at a few restaurants. Also I got one from MC for: 50% off Current Rates Sunday - Thursday, and 20% off Current Rates for Friday - Saturday, and 2-for-1 Tickets to Any MGM Resorts Show.

All in all better than what I was expecting. I am planning on taking advantage of the NYNY offer and have found a couple of weekends, Sat-Tues, that work with the calendar and flights out of my hometown for $275 (which I can knock down with Skymiles).

Hopefully I can keep most of the bankroll this go around, b/c I have a 4-5 nighter planned for the opening weekend of the NCAA tournament next year.

Yeah, you can get TCs for other spending at MGM resorts too if you show your card (shows, spas, the NYNY roller coaster, most restaurants & buffets, etc.). Just spending $1,000 is enough to move a person from Sapphire to Pearl, so you can see why having a Pearl card isn't that big of a deal.

I go to Vegas not only for the gaming but also for interesting restaurants and I see a show a per night (sometimes two), so I get about as many TCs from the peripheral stuff as I do from gambling.
