If I had a front-of-line pass at Disneyland, I'd probably just go thru Toy Story Mania over and over again trying to get a high score. It's a slot player's ride for sure!

Did natedog get stuck without the VIP pass to the Macker's Mom ride at Disneyland?

    Keep On Topic

Hey Guys, if you want to rag on Mackers Mom, please start a seperate thread. :nono:

IMHO, the banter is detracting from an otherwise excellent thread. :nworthy:

Back to Wynn and 1st time to Cosmo

So it was with mixed feelings that I return to Vegas from disneyland, worried about being hurt even more, but itching for more gambling because I just found out I will be stuck overseas for longer than I thought...(365 straight days possibly). I'm going to post pics of the villa and one pic of the chips at Cosmo, they make the color too similar, so hard to differentiate there.

So within two minutes of arriving at the south tower Villas at the Wynn, I head over to craps with my buddy, Dr. J. I shot like crap, couldn't make a pass, but Dr. J saved the day with 3 passes...so up 35k because I was pressing. Dr. J was confused why I won, since we had 4 no passes and only that 3 pass run, the reasoning was because I press press press. first hit it had 2k on line, 10k behind, 2nd hit was 3k on line, 15k behind, 4th hit was 4k on line, 16k behind....awesomeness!

So after that nice little hit at Wynn (15 m) , we went to the Cosmo to play for the first time.

Was not impressed in the beginning, because I had to find the host....and here comes the big rant....ok...I'm Asian...so I understand pairing an Asian host with me....but I speak pretty good English, so it is not too big a communication barrier....but it would make more sense to pair a host that speaks Mandarin since I speak Mandarin...they pair a Korean/Japanese speaking host to me that speaks so-so English. So I guess being Asian we are supposed to communicate somehow :)

Anyways, so I start playing craps....

The craps session at Cosmo started out ok, with a yo!

400 on horn high ace deuce, 100 on yo, makes 1940...plus pass line bet of 2k...nice!

Then it went downhill....couldn't make a pass....come bets don't repeat....everything sucked big time....

Was down pretty big (took 300k), until my Dr. J went to the bathroom....then my luck changed...started hitting numbers....until Dr. J came back...he put 10 bucks on the line and immediate 7 out.

So I tried an experiment, told Dr. J to sit out one hand....and made 3 passes....
go figure...then a shift change and Dr. J starts making a few passes, then the table goes cold again....it's hard on this table because it is so friggin long...

    Anyways -80k

So after that bad craps session we head to the Talon room at Cosmo to try some bac. The room was actually pretty busy, probably because of the bac tournament that they are holding.

There's this one guy in the room playing 100 dollars BJ, his voice carrier throughout the whole room, must be some kind of radio announcer or something...he kept talking about brothels and his fun in thailand (bald caucasian dude), threw me off my game sometimes....and my dealer (woman) kept rolling her eyes....

The bac table was pretty fun, because we started drinking the whiskey in the room...especially Dr. J!

This shift had 2 dealers at my table, a woman and a man. When the woman was there, we had great fun, caught a bunch of runs, and she made a ton from my bets on her pair pair tie....

When the guy came, he just murdered us, the cards turned so choppy it easy crazy....

So it went back and forth like this for a few shoes (3 hrs), until I caught on finally to the pattern and just bet heavily when the woman was there...we still missed now and then but my big bets started hitting. They only let me bet 60k and I was betting that for a few hands. I think I evened out on those, but were hitting hands for 45k, 30k, 18k, etc...

So soon I had made back part of my craps losses....but went on a bit of a dry run when the guy came back, so when the woman came again I was at 250k from my 300k for the day. Then I suddenly remembered that they owe me promo chips (another oversight by my host), so I call her over and ask her...she replies how much do you want...I say, call your boss because it was pre-arranged...sheesh....

Anyways, so she brings over my 20k in promo chips for coming to the property, and I proceed to lose 5k of it pretty quickly. Then I decide to take a bunch of free hands to place a big 15k bet....and an opportunity on 2nd bank comes and i pounce...boom!

I make the 15k remaining in promo chips last until I turn it into 35k, which is pretty good.

So down 15k at the Cosmo, up 35k at the Wynn for the day...all in all pretty good.

Theo was ridiculous though....now I understand why some of the board members here hate the Cosmo.

They rate craps at the Cosmo counting odds (that just mean it is worse for you because the theo will be low). So they gave me an average bet of 15k, which should have been about 22k with the odds, and for 1 hr play gave me 2k theo. Give me a friggin break. The same play at Wynn and MGM gets me at least 7-8k theo. So I told them to release the craps table....guess no more craps at Cosmo.

For bac, the avg bet they gave me before complaining is 2k....for crying out loud I was betting 60k a hand, 45k a hand etc etc....1k on pair tie pair...even the dealers made 5k!?!

So they had me at 4 hrs, 1975 avg bet, 10,267 theo. After an expletive text, it turned into 3:30 hrs (how could 1/2 hr disappear I don't know), avg 7228, theo 23554...a little better but wtf with the difference? I hate it when this happens because it just means if you don't complain you become the casino's bitch. Why can't they give you the correct rating the first time around, instead of you being forced to throw a hissy fit....?!?!?

Thanks guys and gals for sticking with me through my disneyland vacation....the saga continues....

    Side note

So Dr. J was my best man, and my best friend for a long time...but the guy is a high pressure Dr., so he drinks way too much. Today was no exception, after I colored up at the Cosmo, I waited 20m for this guy in the bathroom, it was hilarious...he kept texting me from in there puking his guts out :)

Also I saw the Amazing Race post on this thread, and Dr. J was just out here with his medical school friends, one of whom won the Amazing race! Nat and Tat I think their names were (2 female residents)

    Nate,

How did you like the way Cosmo treated you outside the host communication issue? Were the pit bosses and dealers pleasant?

Also, i am curious where in the Cosmo you were playing. In the new high limit area they have where the Platinum lounge used to be? Or in that ghost-town high limit area about halfway back from the strip on the main gambling floor?

The long craps table strikes me as odd for high limit. I've only seen that a few places like Golden Gate where it was extremely low limit. I thought at the time they did that to leverage the # of dealers on low limit by giving more space to make up the difference through larger # of players.

It seems like that might be an advantage having a longer table for a sliding method dice setter, as hitting the back wall would be more difficult.

Agree the $5K and $25K chips are far too similar. I would love to one day have this be a problem I could spend some time worrying about.:evillaugh

Sorry so many questions, no need to answer but if you have time I'm sure others wonder the same things.

How does the Cosmo room work for your family? Looks pretty fancy but I know my kids (and me after drinking) would have some run-ins with all those mirrored glass surfaces.

Good luck the rest of the trip, maybe you'll wrap things in a flourish of pressing!

Actually the pics are of the Wynn south tower villa, Cosmo doesn't have any room that can beat it, I will shoot some better pictures of the garden outside in the morning.

My bac table is in the Talon room, which is on the 2nd floor. The craps table is in the dice pit with all the others.

The 100 and 500 chips are too similar, and the 5000 and 25k chips are very similar too.

The pit bosses and dealers were all very friendly, but they usually are. I actually rarely see an unfriendly pit boss or dealer, because of the level I play at....although some are obviously friendlier than others. A surprising number of them are from the Wynn (one dealer said 120), and they remember me from there as well.

    This made me laugh

Natedog, your written english is very. very good. Almost impeccable.

Your comment about being teamed with an Asian host that is korean/Japanese is funny.

Remember, the Cosmo is owned by the Germans.

That mirrored room would be an ugly place to wake up in after drinking all night. It looked like the closet, but if I passed out in there it could be like a house of mirrors to get out.

Thank god Nate's back! My week can end on a high note.

Nate, as Skadoo said your written english is great. I have assumed based on your previous reports and comments that you were mainland China or taiwan, but weird that a casino wouldn't do a little extra research and pair you with an appropriate host. I have a friend whose family is El Salvadorian, and god forbid I (even jokingly) refer to her as guatemalan or from any other central american country. I can only imagine what its like with all of the Asian cultures.

Sucks to hear that it'll be a year before you can get back. What's your history with other gaming sites (Macau, Australia, etc)?

Nate, that Villa is amazing, although I agree that the mirrored closets are a bit over the top. Is the pool in your pictures private?

Also, I cannot believe how Cosmo blundered with their host assignment for you. "Hey, he's Asian, so surely our Asian host is the obvious choice!! Never mind that they are two completely different nationalities and have different native languages!!" They should be embarrassed!

My husband and I are heading out to Vegas tonight, but I will be keeping up with this awesome thread via my iPad. Very entertaining.
