    Hi, right now I have a comps at the Luxor and Flamingo in Sept. 2 nights free at Flamingo, 1 free and disounted at Luxor.

    Here's the run down. I have $60 Sat and COMP at Luxor in Tower Deluxe and then Mon and Tues COMPS at Flamingo. Never stayed at Flamingo but free is free. So we are splitting our trip 2 nights at the Flamingo and 2 at either the Luxor or Monte Carlo where I can get $72 for Sat night and 1 night Comped. Both Luxor and Monte Carlo have resort fees. Would you take the Luxor for lower rate or Monte Carlo?

    Thanks.

    I haven't stayed at either but I like the location of Monte Carlo better.

    Monte Carlo... much better pool area, better casino, better dining options, and better location.

    The Luxor is fine, I just choose MC for those reasons.

    HOWEVER... Luxor does have direct access to Mandalay Bay which is by far my favorite casino...

    I think the MC casino is way better than the Luxor's casino. MC seems to be less worn down. The Pub at MC has a great selection of beers. I also think their location is better.

    So I'd go with the Monte Carlo.

    Luxor

    I know, we stayed at Mandalay last trip... comped 2 out of 3 nights in spa suite, was upgraded to larger suite when asking at check in. We were told it would be $20 charge, there was no charge and no resort fees except for the one night we paid. That was amazing and we love Mandalay Bay. Unfortunatley there is a convention in there during this trip and the rates are over $250 a night for regular room. So I will weigh the pros and cons of Luxor vs MC. I have stayed at both in the past. Luxor is ok... MC is better location but casino is small. Easy to get to rooms, but I hear bathrooms are outdated. Pool is fine at either property for us.

    102,197 square feet (90,000 according to some references) is now considered small? What about TI, Ballys, Paris, NYNY, Tropicana?

    Monte Carlo's casino seems less worn down than Luxor?

    The Luxor casino was remodeled a few years back... MC wasn't.... One of the biggest complaints about MC, besides room renovations being needed, and the blah nature of the place, is that their casino is run down.....

    Like Luxor or hate it, the casino is newer than MC's. With that being said, I like MC better as well, because Luxor is a cheap PH/ Ikea knockoff that just doesn't do it for me anymore.

    I've stayed in both places, and while I like both, my favorite Casino is the MC.

    To the previous posters comments, Luxor's casino has been renovated, but it just doesn't have as a good of a feel to me as the MC does. I like Luxor's location to the MB.

    I'm with the others. I like both places, but definitely prefer the MC over the Luxor. Really like the food court right next to the casino. 5 minutes to eat a slice of pizza and back to gambling, always enjoy that convenience.

    If you are getting 2 nights, you might be able to get 4. Login and put check the MONTHLY calendar, and do NOT use your offers. See what you get.

    if it were up to me id pay the extra 12 and stay at monte carlo

    location is everything. Luxor is nice but its fairly away from the main strip.

    Monte carlos is closer to the flamingo so 12 extra bucks is worth it.

    MC vs. Luxor continues

    I 'm going to think about this.. my folks just stayed at MC and were disappointed in the rooms lately... I have stayed only in suites at Luxor and had regular room upgraded to tower suites both times for free, as recently a 1 yr ago. Those are quite nice... I am currently in Tower Deluxe may get upgraded.. seems they have tons of room and it's rarely been an issue.... Not my favorite location either, but we do have a car and love Mandalay... so I know MC has easier access to rooms, but bathrooms are teenie... like the MC location better, so will weight it out... and I appreciate all of your input.

    The wife and I stayed at the Luxor last fall in a tower deluxe room for 2 nights then moved to the MC
    for three nights in a deluxe room on the 19th floor. I liked the MC casino and it's location but much preferred the Luxor room.

    I stayed at the Luxor once about 6 years ago and hated it. The elevators took a long time, service staff was unfriendly and I didn't like the casino area. I don't think I even really played in it after being let down by the front desk. Went to the Venetian to gamble and watch Phantom. Never stayed at Monte Carlo, never played either, but you are right in the middle of the action.

    Both are virtually the same to me, but at least Luxor's casino is a little updated. But Monte Carlo has a better location and is attached to City Center. I'd probably go with Luxor just because it's cheaper.

    Monte Carlo all the way...

    Monte Carlo is showing its age, but it has the following going for it:

    1. Good reasonable room rates;
    2. Location
    3. Pool, lazy river, and wave pool;
    4. Nice casino layout;
    5. Food court (if that's your thing) and some decent restaurants (I really like Dragon Noodle); and
    6. Minus5 Ice Bar (my wife and I went there last year and had a fun time).

    After our last stay there I have to go with Luxor, I am still wondering if some of the negatives I have read on here about the Pyramid are the same Luxor we stayed at, great stay with great service in every aspect. MC started doing some renovations last fall that I hoped would help bring it to it's potential, sadly it's still just a kinda depressing vibe to me. But I prefer the South end so location does play into the decision as well.

    Monte Carlo NYE

    I've read comments about Monte Carlo's rooms being dated. But how bad can they be? I ask because I'm thinking about staying for 4 days over NYE.

    Reasons:

    1. I've never stayed there
    2. Location
    3. Price

    I've gotten spoiled and most of my Strip offers have dried up so I will have to pay for a room for the first time in a long while.
    I'm afraid if I wait too long to book and not lock something in now I'll be sorry. Also the Casino has been renovated.
