The last two stays at MSS, they had almost continuous classic rock going in the casino area.

The music has really improved at the Four Queens in the last year or so. It's now classic rock and some newer stuff instead of that easy listening mix they used to play - I think it was 'the Blend' on XM.

Not a satellite radio guy, but now that you mention it, that might have been what MSS had on also. Whatever it was, the Cal had on the same station.

    Fools Gold,
I did not discover that there was better booze at the D bar. But I did not ask either. The waitress who served me said the "well drink only " rule was throughout the casino.

I'd be attracted to the Guiness at the Gold Spike if they had any decent VP there or a live poker game.

I loved the Sunset Wheat at the Flamingo poker room.
I love the Black Chip Porter at MSS as well.

But usually I don't drink beer. The Golden Nugget poker room served me best downtown.

The surprise for me at the D and at El Cortez poker room is that it was not a choice of second best in booze. It was tenth best and terrible. I drink second best whiskey and rum and all sorts of whatever often here at home. Often I can't tell the difference. So I was surprised that I could not tolerate what they brought me. I'll post what I did for booze at the El Cortez on another thread. It is funny.

    Dewey,

The Long Bar has top shelf across the spectrum.... Goose, Ketel, Bombay Sapphire, Makers, Woodford etc..... If you are betting max bet on VP, you are comped whatever they have in their vast selection of bottles. The bottles are on display, so check and see if your beverage of choice will offset the inferior paytables. For me, top shelf booze, instead of Crystal Palace or Two Fingers is the deal maker. Besides, the royal is progressive, and 4OAK pays the same on DDB, so i'm happy.

On the floor at the D, you get well.

Thanks Nick. Interesting move to get people on that low paytable.
Interesting addition to what I learned as well and it may explain why people are drawn to play at the Long Bar. The trick I guess is to play slow.
    Thanks.
Say, what is the DDB paytable. I've only recorded the Bonus Poker?

Dewey, thanks for the review, great job. I have a question how much play say 5 coins .25 vp for 3 hours at the 4 Queens would that get you a room offer? I have played there in the past but usually for an hour or an hour and a half, but I made a point to play for 3 hours in early June.

I think you should get mailings.
If you don't, call and ask for the host telephone number.
It depends on how much you gambled over the course of your "trip" At least that is what they told me. That would be different than places that do a daily average.
Also, Binions play is on a separate computer. So if you took their offer of $24 a night from the live poker room, and only played live poker, that would not show on your Four Queens records. At least not until they get around to combining the cards. So I could book a room for a few nights at the poker rate, play only live poker, butt that booking into one of my 3 free nights and maybe keep the same room and still not stretch out what looks like a "trip" at the Four Queens.
They won't assign you a particular host, but if you tell them that you don't seem to be getting mailings and want to check if you have any offers, they can look you up and will tell you. Often I don't get the mailings, but the offers are there. They can also tell you when they expect the mailings to come out, and this last time they actually booked me at a low rate in expectation of a coming offer so I had the insurance of the booking just in case. I double booked, but the mailings came through.
Generally I get one offer good for one time use in say three months time that will include freeplay and sometimes free food. Then in an ajoining month there will be an offer of a free slot tournament with a couple breakfasts (one just continental but another a small buffet). So I book my air to overlap two months and most of the time get 6 free nights, three in each month.

The issue is that the mailings come late, so you have to insure with another booking somewhere which you will cancel last minute once the Four Queens get out their offer.

What I meant was it used to be the Blend.

    I think its different now.

Good question.... I only remember that the premium hands (of course) all play the usual 400 4OAK, 800 A with 2,3,4 etc. The bottom level payouts were lower, but I can't remember.... Might be due to the grotesque amounts of Makers Mark that I enjoyed last trip.

Great post! I liked the D when I went in April. Loved the look and the vibe. Will definetly go back in on my upcoming trip. The dancers were good to see while playing craps. Makes the game much more fun. The dealers and pit bosses were also very friendly as well.

Well, I am glad this generated so much informed discussion. Nice photos Leerawhide. This is nothing like the old room I stayed in. Were I to go with my wife, I'd pick this over the basic. Solo, I just go for the cheapest. Perhaps over time they will all be renovated especially when they have to compete with The Grand and perhaps with Binions again. Perhaps then, however, the $15 a night charge will just be a memory.

Did you ask for a renovated room? I wonder if these are hard to get?

They charge a bit more for a renovated room. We'll be checking in Saturday. Nice size bathroom vanity. It will make the bathroom at Bill's appear even smaller.

I booked the room on the D's website, it was only $10 more on that day
Nice feature are the lamps on the nightstands, both lamps have 2 outlets each for charging the phone, ipad ect.

The D has a nice little pool too

One thing other people have commented on is how slow valet is, they are.
