Wynn/Encore Pools - What's the deal?

My wife likes to sunbathe and I'm trying to get the lowdown on the pools at the Wynn/Encore. We have a Encore Panoramic (non-tower) room at the end of July. All of the threads on this topic are from 2009. I'm looking for more updated info.

Here's what I've learned so far:

The Wynn has a large pool area with insufficient cocktail staff on crowded weekends. For the "tower" guests, they have a VIP pool area above the main pool to allow them to thumb their noses at the less fortunate below. There is a bridge over the main pool the links the VIP areas together (and presumably so they can spit on the commoners below). It takes approximately nine minutes to walk from the Encore tower suites to the VIP pool area. It is uncouth for VIP people to swim, so the VIP pools are very shallow and more decorative than functional. They serve as devices from which to orient lounge chairs.

The Encore Beach Club is a pay for admission area where younglings can perform their mating calls and various mating rituals to extremely loud music. The music is so loud and continuous that it affects the ability to sleep for anyone on the first 30 floors of Encore near the club. Admission requires six-pack abs for men and bikinis for women. Outdoor showers provide impetus for guests to perform public mating calls, much to the pleasure of fellow guests and staff. I believe that this area is "European" style adults only. Ear plugs are available and the overpriced bar. No cameras allowed.

Here's where I need more info about...

There appears to be another pool area for the Encore guests only. It is smaller than the Wynn main pool, and may possibly be "European" style adults only as well (need clarification). It comprises two pools, a rectangular pool between the eastside lounge and Brahms, and a semi-circular pool surrounding the Island Bar and Casino located outside (and part of?) the XS night club.

Can anyone clarify this? Are the two pools at Encore one, or seperate? Do they have names? What is the "scene" at the Encore pools?

 

We have never been to the Wynn pools or the Encore Beach Club, but have spent a lot of time at the Encore pools. There are two. The rectangular one is the regular pool, the other is the European pool. We spend most of our time at the European pool. We've always found the service to be great and really like the vibe. It's kind of laid back. I recommend getting a cabana if you don't mind spending the money. We always have a blast!

Encore has 2 pools that are similar to the two 2 Wynn pools. I agree with the data points you have, I'd add though that almost all places have insufficient wait staff for busy weekends, Wynn isn't special there.

 

the wynn and the encore both have two pools. they are not attached and the back pools are adult pools. they each have a bar right next to them. the drinks at encore were coming strong and fast and had friendly bartenders. The pool vibe at encore was laid back and calm compared to the rest of vegas. no screaming or splashing kids except for me. easy to relax or nap as it was not loud at all but at times it was almost too mellow.

 

Here's a few more points of interest:

The EBC is not a euro/toppless pool, there is a posted (pool attire) dress code and it's not a pool to go "sunbathe" at, it's a party of mostly early 20 yr olds grooving to loud EDM. If I was 21 again, I think it'd probably be a blast but at 57....not so much.

The euro pools at both Wynn and Encore are very nice and pretty laid back during the week but get a lot louder (they bring in DJ's) for Fri, Sat & Sun

If you're at Encore, I'm guessing she'll like the Euro pool unless she doesn't mind some kids splashing around then either pool will do.

You may have been joking (hard to tell on a msg board sometimes) but I really don't think there's anything snooty about the Tower Suite pool area...it's just like the rest of Vegas (and the world for that matter) in that you can always upgrade to a more private accomodation and level of service if that's a persons "thing". My motto for anyone is "it's your vacation so do it the way you want for what flips your switch".

That's one of the great things about Wynncore....it has something for everyone and even if some parts are not your thing (like for us, we're not nighclub peeps) it's still fun to see what others are doing and watch (as you say) "the mating ritual" of the younger generation.

I think you'll love the resort and your bride will love the Euro pool...great music (weekdays anyway for me) and service.

we just spent 4 days at encore, three of which we went to the pool. we did not go over to the european pool. we found the wait staff to be exceptional while we were there. i think i only saw one kid during the three days. the pool temperature was the best. i have found in the past that vegas pools are almost too cold to enjoy but the encore's pool is heated i believe.

 

Agreed. For those who have the means, it's just another way to relax and keep the peace & quiet. No shame in that.

What I loved about Wynncore is now pretty much gone thanks to the direction the property is going (not bad, just not my style). It's why I now stay with MO. Does that make me an 'uppity VIP?' No. It makes me someone who knows what I want and I'm willing to pay for it.
