My Chevy S-10 was bought in 1998.
It has 136,000 on it.....and some rust.
    .
I had to buy an automatic ( wife can't drive manual )
with 4 doors ( so the baby seat will fit easier ).
    .
I started out looking at "certified used" dealer cars.
    THE PRICES WERE OUTRAGEOUS !!!!!!!
For $2,000 more I bought a brand new car -- instead
of last year's model w/ 30,000 miles on it.
All dealerships used cars were ridiculously priced.:grrr:
    .
I was up against a time limit --- and I was on my
    week's vacation -- so I shopped around.....quickly.
    .
    I buy a Hyundai.
I think I'm done at the dealership until......now I have to meet
    w/ the Finance Guy:rolleyes2:
He tries to sell me 4 options and is SHOCKED when I say "no".
If I took some of these options my monthly payment
would have risen by at least $150 per month !!!!
One thing I understand "New cars get old, at some point."
I was at the dealership for 4 hours doing paperwork !!!!:vomit:
    .
I waxed the car + will scotch guard it this week.
    .
See my other post about what happens next ---

Bought my Accord in June of 98. 231,000+ on it now and still going fine.

I shudder to think of prices when I do finally have to replace it.

Nice going on the free Vegas trip.

My first car (a 1992 model I bought in 1993) was used. My 2nd & 3rd (current) car were both new because the price of used cars was so close to the new versions. Yikes! I paid off my current car last fall and, knock wood, it's going strong. Both my previous cars lasted over 100,000 miles.....

Which Hyundai did you get? My husband and in-laws love that brand. My husband had a Sonata for 5 years and just bought a Genesis this year. My in-laws both have a Hyundai minivan - they had one Hyundai and one Honda and traded the Honda for a 2nd Hyundai....

Used car prices are at an all time high. Its a rare time when it often makes more sense to buy new. I was shopping for a truck last fall, was looking at used in the 2007 to 2008 range, all around $20K or so. The good ones were selling quickly, often before I could even get to the lot.

I ended up buying a new one for 7K off sticker, paying only $24K for brand new.

The finance guy wasnt truly shocked, they are trained to portray that emotion.

I bought the "Accent" model -
    I believe it's their cheapest.
They made some nice improvements over
    last year's model.
It's probably the roomiest front seat of any
small sedan I've tried to sit in.
My wife's corolla --- it's torture for me to try
    and get into.
    I'm 6 ft 200 lbs.
    .
Red exterior w/ mustard yellow interior.
    .
I'm gonna hate leaving it at the train station lot !!!!:grrr:

I think I'd get a Hyundai if I was buying my own car. My current company car is a BMW 320d (all company cars are diesel in the UK, in fact, most new cars are). A friend has a Hyundai something or other and the quality is great. I think I'll get an Audi A5 when my lease is up in August - might as well take advantage of being able to have a nice car courtesy of my employer while I can. Company car schemes are getting rarer and rarer in the UK.

I bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and love it. It has tons more options on it than my 2000 Accord had.

Congrats on the new wheels! This is why I buy online. The transaction proper takes about 10 minutes. Can't beat the price, at least in our car-mad market.

We shopped for a used one not too long ago and yes the prices are surprisingly high. Some of the newer car prices make it tough not to buy new if you can handle some of the smaller cars.

That is why my 81 F100 will get a new engine, some body work and a coat of paint. My 87 F250 is due for a little body work and a coat of paint.

I recently rented a 2012 Hyundai Sorrento SUV, front wheel drive, and was very impressed with the size, comfort, power, quiet and fuel economy. The six speed transmission lets the V6 engine turn about 1600 rpm at 55 mph and the display indicated 28 mpg. The only downside is my wife now wants one in the driveway.
