I just read in the LVA newsletter that Gardunos in the Palms is closing. I loved the Sunday Margarita Brunch. Such a good deal for $16.99. We always enjoyed it there.

I have dinner and lunch there a few times and always enjoyed it. I will miss the place.

OMG! It was one of the reasons I go to Palms every trip and it was always my POV coupon play... This sucks, any mention of when it is closing?

    WOW, a surprise

The internet says a sports themed restaurant will go in by the end of this year.

Obviously, Gardunos is closing soon or it has closed.

Normally, I would call the Palms to inquire, but on my last call to inquire about my COMP in the sportsbook, the Palms VIP did not have anyway to contact Cantor Sports. I don't even know who is working the sportsbook at Cantor, something like Daniel Garcia. Obviously, I was not worthy of being passed to Cantor from Palms Sportsbook to Cantor.

My guess, the employees of Southpoint, which ran the Palms sportsbook, were not going to go out of their way to help Cantor and the new beancounters from CET.

I figure the Palms is trying to distance itself from anything and anyone.

Looks like my Palms days are over.

That is too bad, love the food there, isn't there another location in town somewhere?

Fiesta Rancho has the original Garduno's.

Any word on the LVA coupon?

Wonder why Mexican restaurants aren't as popular as other styles
of food within the various property communities.
Gardunos was the only Mexican place I've seen around...RIO tried
one for a while but it didn't last...
Where can you find real good Mexican food in Vegas?

(just looked below....lots of suggestions, THANKS)

The Mexican restaurant at the RIO was Bomboleo (sp?). It was good, I went there a couple of times around 2001/2002.

I did the margarita brunch at Gardunos every time I was in Vegas on a Sunday. I'll really miss it.

    Go!

Per a friend in Las Vegas (who asked when he was at Gardunos last week), "officially" no closing date has been set but it's not closed yet and probably won't close until the end of September.

A golfing buddy and I will be in Las Vegas June 1-6 and we plan on doing the Sunday brunch (June 3). If I can get any more detailed info on it's closing, I'll post again after I get back.

What would you expect to happen with the LVA coupon? It's 50% off at the Palms which is a lot more places than Gardunos. I won't expect anything to change with the coupon.

This is extremely upsetting - I always made sure to visit every Vegas trip and was just there a couple of weeks ago. The original location was in New Mexico but it closed down a couple of years ago. I think this was the last Garduno's left in the chain.

From what I read, Garduno's is not closing until the end of the year. so there is no need for anyone to cross it off their list just yet - if you enjoy the place as much as I do, visit it while you can. There is no reason for me to visit the Palms after Garduno's goes either. I don't know what these hotels are thinking - another Sports Bar/Ultralounge - EXACTLY what the Palms needs to attract business away from the Strip....uh - NOT.

I don't think anything will happen with the LVA coupon either - I only use it at Garduno's but plenty of people use it for the hotel room or the other restaurants on the premises. Now there will be no reason for me to ever join LVA again because I absolutely hate the message board (this one is so much better with a great bunch of members - unlike LVA where they can get downright vicious) and I don't have any use for the other coupons in the LVA book.

I'm the same way...the 50%OFF is about the only thing I use
out of that book too and I used if for my PALMS room.
Each board is a bit different...they all have their own personalities.
I'm still with LVA but don't run into any attitude...I know what ya mean though.
Sonya has a GREAT BOARD here, it's my favorite(and send her a few bucks now 'n then)
Good boards like this take a lot of work and involve some costs to keep them this way.
