It's a long walk to get to Ballys from L.V. Street

I do like staying at Ballys but you have to walk a long ways to get outside
to Las Vegas street or return to Ballys. Another choice is to walk through
the Paris hotel to go to L.V. street or return back to Ballys. "WHEW".

I stayed there recently and I had a choice to walk outside of Ballys or
walk towards the Paris hotel walk-way to get to the Las Vegas street.
It is a super long walk for senior me. I wear great walking shoes but my
knees and toes were hurting after awhile. I noticed one of my toes turned
black from walking so much. It did clear up after I got home.

If you have "limited walking problems"..... I don't think that Ballys is a
good place to stay at unless you have a scooter to take you everywhere.

This information is for people who have never stayed there and don't like
to walk much to get to their hotel rooms.

Bally's used to have moving walkways in and out of the entrance. They don't anymore?:confused2:

I understand that not everyone has the same needs or ability, but it has always been my assumption that everything in Vegas is a long walk. Even if the walk to the strip is short, then what??

You think the walk at Bally's is bad. Then don't stay at the MGM. That's the one thing I didn't like staying there. The walk from the room to the Strip took forever!! And the walk to the pool area.

I suspect part of the problem is that the moving walkway seems to be in a non-moving state quite a bit of the time :)

we timed our walk from our mgm room to the blvd and our bally's room to the blvd. they were pretty close in time with mgm being about 5 minutes, and bally's was about 6 min. i think these are great times compared to bellagio and other hotels set farther back (then again, i am not aware of any shortcuts). i think if someone has mobility issues, they're gonna have trouble with a lot of the hotels.

Most hotels require LOTS of walking. As the original post, it might be a nicer walk going through Paris, but by time you walk through there and finally get to the strip, you will have walked way more than walking straight out the front of Ballys. Then again, it depends where you are going - North or South.

I'm surprised so many of the seniors I see in Vegas make it around as well as they do considering the size of some of the resorts, but I suppose slot machines and keno make for quite the motivator!

My grandmother seemed to be able to handle it okay but at the same time we had a car so we weren't on a walking vacation.

Still lots of walking, even inside the hotel. If you use a car and do valet, then it does cut down on some walking, depending on where you are going. From Paris to Bellagio is still gonna be a long walk - assume you would not take the car.

For anyone with ANY mobility issues, I would highly recommend a scooter. They are not unreasonably priced & can be rented from either the concierge (at least at CET props) or directly from Universal Mobility (as well as others). I believe it ran about $150 for a 5 day chunk - slightly higher per day for shorter periods of time.

When we had a conference at MGM (my first trip to LV) it was 1000 steps from the door of our room to the conference center entry (one way). Well that 10,000 steps a day you are supposed to walk - we had that down in no time every day.

As far as Ballys directly - asking for South Tower vs. North would help somewhat. And also make sure you request a room close to the elevator no matter which tower (that North Tower hallway can be VERY LONG).

The moving walkway is about 50/50 in working. With the scooter we often went out the side door (Flamingo Rd) & then headed towards the strip that way.

She didn't have a problem with that. And with the casino layout, you don't waste a lot of steps getting from the room to the entrance. In fact we walked from Bally's to Harrah's a few times that trip and it was okay. But it was her first trip with someone with a car and once she got used to the idea, she started to prefer driving.

Those long walks in and out of those large Strip properties are why we prefer to stay downtown. A change of scenery, a visit to a new casino or restaurant takes only a few minutes ... not to mention the affordable full-pay VP.

    Limited Walking

I have stayed at the Tropicana and it is the best hotel for "limited walking
people" because you walk in and the elevators are located within a few
steps to go to your room near the elevator.

The Local bus stop is also located right in front of the hotel and also across
    the street.

I have never stayed at Bill's Gambling Saloon but I notice the elevators
are located near the front desk and the Casino is small and easy to walk
    to L.V. Street.

I like to conserve my energy as much as possible because once I go shopping
or go visit a hotel to have fun at I will have the energy to get there and get
    back to my hotel.
I do take breaks and sit down on a bench and relax before I start walking again.
I never visit the MGM or other larger hotels because I know I can walk in
but having to leave the hotel will be a super long walk to walk around and
then leave the hotel and then have to maybe walk one long block to get to
    a bus stop.
I do have a lot of fun in Vegas and maybe some day I will have to rent a
scooter but meanwhile I will try to stay at smaller hotels. LucyR.

For people with mobility issues, the best places on the strip are Bill's and Casino Royale, both of which are cheap, clean, and mere seconds from elevator to sidewalk. But I've made the move downtown for the same reasons and with greater options. A frequent traveling companion has difficulty walking and loves downtown for this reason.

I usually stay at Bally's and find the easiest way to the strip is to walk out the front doors, through valet, down the few stairs, across the driveway, up a few steps, around the walkway escelators, then (if they're working) ride the last moving walk way to the street or by pass it as well. The escalators seem to add distance and time.

If you have a car, self park by the sports book (off Flamingo & Audrie) and enter the casino that way. If you're staying in that tower (the one that is closest to Flamingo, North tower?), take the elevator up to your floor from there and by pass the casino (is this blasphemy?). Then get your chips from your room and return to the casino. whew!

I just got back Friday night from Bally's. The moving walkway going IN was broken, LOL. It is usually the one going out they don't want working.

It's true that almost every Strip hotel requires a lot of walking, except for somewhere really tiny like Bill's.

Still, Bally's always annoys me on principle. WHY is the casino so far from the Strip? Why exactly did they keep all that wasted space in front of the building?

I would love to see a remodel that brought the casino right out to the Strip. Seems like such a waste of property.
