So I'm over 24 hours without a cigarette and I'm doing ok -- however when I'm in the car driving it is the worst. I just want to go through the motions of smoking...but not have any of the harmful side effects.

Has anyone here used the vapor E-Cigs? My husband has brought a couple of the really cheap ones home from the drugstore but they didn't last very long. I was looking for a good one, that has several different "flavors" to choose from but won't break the bank.

I don't think I'll use them all the time but maybe it would be nice to have in the car when I feel the urge come on. Does anyone know a good brand and where to get one? Have you had success with them?

    Vape vape

We quit smoking almost 3 years ago with "personal vaporizers" (electric cigarette).

We wanted to quit smoking.....on the other hand, the LAST thing we wanted to do was quit smoking. We loved smoking! Thanks to our PV's--we did BOTH!!

I haven't smoked an "analog" cig since June 25, 2009 (Pete a few days less)! The EASIEST way to quit I've ever seen!! I got a grandma at my son's swim class to switch--40 years/2 packs/day--stopped smoking the day she got her e cig. I gave one to my Dad --it took him a couple of months to get off analogs --but he did it! (been tobacco free over 2 years) My Mom is thrilled--if only for "quiet mornings without all that god awful hacking!!"

It's all the nicotine you love without all the tar & poisons! (It's not the nicotine that kills you, it's the 3000 other ingredients & smoke) Amazing!!
We went through 3 models before we found the right "vape".
If you NEED one that is the size & shape of analog---the joyetech 510 is the best.
Anyone who smokes more than a pack a day should get an EGO. Those are the two we use to this day, and we consider them the best.

Here's a decent forum to read:

    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

Vaping is very much like smoking but without the stink &
    death!
I like it BETTER than smoking and I did that for 23 years! We don't cough
anymore and are saving TONS of money. You can take what was a nasty habit and
turn it into a fun new hobby!! LOL
    Healthier and not so smelly,
    Julia (& Pete)

wow thanks! I've been smoking since I was 18, I'm 35 now. I don't really want one when I'm at home but to/from work in the car is when I want it the most and during a stressful work day.... and I can't imagine how I would feel in a casino without lighting up! LOL

Where can I order the type you mention above? I saw some on www.e-cig.com and then found another type called "Green Smoke"?? I just don't want to waste my money.

Thanks so much, it's great that this has worked for you I'm hoping it works for us!

    the right e cig

I've ordered from this guy before--I trust this site:

    http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/e-cigarette-starter-kits/joyetech-510-starter-kit/

He has good e-juice as well--you can get your "brand" or various fruit flavors, etc.

Use your vape whenever you want to! They don't hurt you or anyone around you and they don't stink.
If smoking were safe and cheap, everyone would do it! Welcome to the future!

I quit smoking through my wallet. After a decade of trying every January 1st, I committed to quitting. I bet everybody at work I would quit for a year. They knew I couldn't do it because I'd tried so many times before and failed.

Bet amounts totaled $2,100, everybody jumped on the bandwagon, knowing I would fail again.

I made it!!!!!!!!!!! After the year I went to everyone who made a bet and said keep your money. I was just so happy to have kicked the habit.

I honestly think if I lit one up today, I'd be back on them and that was 15 years ago. 1-2 packs a day.

I banked $40 per week and put it in a slush fund after I quit and surprised my wife with an all inclusive trip to St Kitts. Amazing how much money just goes up in smoke.

    Best of luck to you!!

Full disclosure: I still own stock in PM & MO and both have been great investments over the last 20 years.

I started vaping exactly 4 weeks ago and haven't so much as craved a real cigarette since. Not only have I noticed my lungs and sense of smell improving, I've saved a ton of money. (A pack of cigarettes cost anywhere from $7 - $10 around here).

And I second the recommendation of the ECF. I've been lurking there awhile, and there's a lot of great information.

    Good luck!

I'll agree with you on the 510, have had it for probably a year now, and it works really well. Although I haven't quit smoking real cigarettes, the e cig definitely helps. I can go days without having a real smoke and just puff on the ecig, but my down fall is when I start drinking!! The ecig just doesn't cut it for me when I'm drunk so I have a regular one.

The best part of ecigs are all the flavors. There's literally 100s of different kinds to choose from. Right now my favorite is chocolate mint, and banana.

I'm going to spoil the party on this one...

Just FYI, I quit smoking 6 yrs ago after smoking for about 15 yrs

Smoking is two things, an addiction AND a habit. You have to break both the addiction and the habit, or all you are doing is substituting one habit for another habit, or one crutch for another crutch, which many addicts do. Go to an AA meeting and you realize quickly they've replaced alcohol with caffeine and nicotine.

Don't substitute one habit for another habit, and who knows what they're going to find out about the vapor cigs in a few years.

The number one step in quitting is being "over it." You have to be mentally done with smoking. Forced quitting while you mentally want to smoke is just a temp quitting, you will go back. Same as an alcoholic or drug addict who outwardly says they want to quit, but mentally wants another drink or another hit. They can go to drug programs over and over, but unless they're "over it" and truly want to quit, they won't, it'll just be a revolving door of on/off/on/off using.

Once you decide that you're over it, and can say "I will never smoke again" and that "I don't do that any more," I recommend you use the patch....nicoderm. Follow the program exactly, don't think after a couple weeks "I got this" and go off the program, follow it to the end. They say it takes at minimum, 30 days to break a habit, that's why programs are 30-45 days. You need to get past that 30 day mark, and you do it by weening off the nicotine (via patch) and breaking the habits of after dinner, while driving, when drinking, with coffee, when you wake up....you have to learn to think and say "I don't do that anymore"...

By using the fake smoke during all the usual habitual times, you're not breaking your habit, you're just substituting one for another, and that'll make it that much easier to "slip" at some point and be back on the smoking wagon.

Break all ties...both the nicotine AND the habit, or you're just setting yourself up for failure

Thanks for the sermon, but not everyone wants to quit. Have you ever tried an ecig? Plenty of people I know have been on them for more than a year and don't light up anymore. They would never have quit at all without the ecig. I just don't like the smoke and the smell. I don't have to explain or justify my personal habits to anyone. Reminds me of when people ask how much of a credit card hold a hotel asks for and get a lecture on why they should have a giant credit card limit.

I started smoking when I was 12. I was a 3 pack a day smoker. I smoked, coughed and puked. It got embarrassing. We had to pull over in the car so I could cough up my cookies. I had quit a few times only to start again. The last time I started smoking was at a bar in Laughlin. A friend was smoking my brand. My husband and I both lite up. When my daughter was expecting my first Grand Child, (5 years ago) we all quit cold turkey. About the same time I found out I had a autoimmune disease that has been linked to smoking. My doctor said he was glad I quit because my disease would be more severe and possibly more deformities. My Mother in law quit about the same time. She smoked those ultra light cigarettes that she thought where safe. She did not quit in time. A year later she was diagnosed with COPD. We watched her die a ugly death. I think I needed to watch so I don't think about smoking again. I really liked smoking. Good Luck to anyone trying to quit.

I just felt a earthquake. Anyone else feel it?

I gave up cigarettes a few years back and now only enjoy cigars. I don't smoke every day, sometimes I go weeks without one. I know it is no where near healthy, but I do believe that I traded and unhealthy habit (more than a pack a day) for a slightly less unhealthy habit. I enjoy them and have no intention on quitting, but I have no desire to go back to cigarettes and I don't feel the need to smoke something every 2 hours at work.

 Keep up the good work. Quitting is difficult. I smoked for 39 years and tried many times to quit. I finally quit by being hypnotized. To me it doesn't matter how one quits but rather that one does quit. Good luck.

So I haven't smoked since this past Thursday. Yes, I want to...badly but I'm trying to do this for my kids. And, the fact that my husband hasn't smoked in almost 2 weeks now -- well, I don't want to be the "loser" parent that caves in first. I'm pretty sure I'm over the physical addiction because I'm not having any serious withdrawals but I get the urge to go outside of the house to smoke....I even walk out there and forget, then wonder why the hell I'm standing outside my garage...I have no cigarettes!

My husband is giving my Dad the money he would've been spending on smokes each week and saving up for -- YUP, their Vegas trip in September!

I would really like to try the e-cigs even if it's just for now and then -- when my kids are fighting driving me nuts, husband nagging, dogs barking, birds screaming (that's what it's like in my house -- a zoo) and I get a little on edge. I just haven't gotten around to ordering one. Maybe if I do I'll just save it for Vegas..... LOL

You walk outside because of the habit.
If you're over the withdrawal, congratulations, now you work on the hardest part, the habit.
Just keep saying to yourself, "I don't do that anymore"
You can do this, just keep away from the habit, and go one minute, one hour, one day at a time....

I switched to an ecig about 1.5 years ago. I went with Blu because I like the "pack" to recharge the battery.

I still smoke regular cigs in Vegas because I can, but my husband and doctor are thrilled that I switched. No smell and my doctor said the vapors doesn't count as smoking. :)

You can find disposables around at stores like Walgreens. Try one & see what you think. With the kit I have I spend about 1/3 of what I did on cigarettes. Win win.

    Vape not smoke

"my doctor said the vapors doesn't count as smoking."

Any doctor who has seen how their patient's health improves the SAME as someone who quits cold turkey LOVES vapes. My doctor, my husband's doctor, my dad's doctor--all say "VAPE AWAY! Won't hurt ya!". We have a friend who is a nurse at a Cancer Center quit with a vape---now her boss (an oncologist) has her council the smoking patients and help THEM quit with vapes.

And Sonya, Blu's are not a great vape. If you invest in a good vape (510/EgO), you would not smoke real cigs in Vegas--you wouldn't be able to stand the damn things!

The money you save is a wonderful bonus! Our 2010 Vegas trip was solely financed by our old cig money (we are saving about $400/month versus analogs).
