Lookin to make a trip with some buddys and instead of gambling all day figured we would rent out a cabana for a day.

How much do these cost? I usually stay at CET properties but just throw out any prices you know!

    Thanks guys

MGM just changed their cabana pricing from a flat fee for the cabana rental to a food and beverage minimum. For a Friday/Saturday/Sunday the food and beverage minimum is $600, and there is no fee for the cabana itself.

    MGM itself, the whole chain?

Just checked on a cabana at M-Bay and they want around that, with no food included. Crazy!

I have a cabana at hardrock next Monday for $500, food and booze minimum, which i like better the a flat fee, you get to spend it (on over priced food and booze) but your there and spending anyway... I was told there are three levels $250, $500 and $750, all the same cabana size but all about location. We have a group of 4 so its not bad.

Plus there have the Cantor Gaming Mobile Gaming Device, for sports book and some other games that lets me put in my bets from the pool area...

Last Year at The Mirage, it was $400 a day, weekday. If you are interested in CET properties, you can't go wrong w/ a Pool Villa (different than cabanas) at Paris. I was there 2 years ago, and the cost was around $300 - $350 a day, I believe.

My post was focused solely on the MGM Grand (have a cabana reserved on a Friday in late June). I don't know if the other MGM properties are transitioning from a flat fee to a F&B minimum. I wish they all had F$B minimum. Flat fee is just a waste of money IMO.

    BackStage Pass

... and if you're working on points in their new rewards-program (BackStage Pass), the $$$ you spend at the cabana and other areas of the property are counted as 10X points. :peace:

Good thread. I'm starting to look at this for my trip in September and was wondering about rough pricing. Normally with just me and one other person it's not an option financially, but as a wedding/honeymoon trip, it might be worth it one day since we plan on making at least a couple of them strictly relaxation days by the pool.

Depending on who comes out and how long they stay, we might even be able to do a group thing to keep costs lower. $500 or so for just the two of us is pricey...but maybe we'll do well with the wedding gifts! lol

Or just charge everything to your room and be sure they have the card number. It's one of the things I love about their new program, but find interesting from a gaming perspective.

If I play slots I get one-(1) point for each $1 played, but if I go buy a t-shirt and a hat in the HRH store for say $70, I get 10X points for 700 points. For "comp" purposes, I'm sure gaming points are separated from the general expenditure points, but this really works for a guy like me who isn't the biggest gambler, but spends a lot of $$$ on the room, food, etc. at the property. I often host my business dinners there and now get serious points, where before it was ONLY about gaming.

A level of 10x points surprises me, but it doesn't surprise me that actual dollars handed over for purchases get you better credit than dollars gambled. With straight purchases, they know exactly what they're getting from you and can easily calculate how much they're giving you in return based on what you spend before you even lay the money down. And obviously comps based on points cost them fractions of what a visitor spends in actual dollars, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense.

With gambled money, on the other hand, they have their percentages and such they're betting on, but there's the chance of you winning and walking away with your winnings on top of whatever points you've earned. There's technically no "guarantee" that the casino won't lose money on the transaction, and no real way of figuring out a concrete payback before the transaction takes place.

    Just some thoughts.

F&D minimum for a cabana sounds like a much better deal! Mirage is like $400, but if that was F&D minimum, I would probably be all over that. At least I get all of the cabana amenities and drinks and food on top of that!

Only downside is folks who are alone, a couple and/or don't drink
I guess they up-charge from what you did buy to what the minimum is?

That is true, but if you are going to pay the $400 anyway hypothetically. You can take care of that with a bottle of alcohol in Vegas and lunch ;)

How about this, some cabana's come with a bottle of booze and mixers, if you don't drink, can you keep the bottle of booze? Take to your room and then home in your checked bag?

Well I would like to imagine the bottle of booze if yours to keep as you paid for it, but bringing an open bottle in your suitcase... Is that even legal to carry around in public (outside of the Vegas strip?)

Too bad it is just MGM and Hard Rock that do this. Anybody know of any other props that do the food and drink minimum?

I'm starting to get keen on the idea of a cabana at Flamingo mid-week while my group of four are there Friday-Friday in mid-August. I'm outside the US so calling to ask isn't terribly efficient, but does anyone have any idea how much it might run us?

I'd probably be happy to sit there drinking and snacking all day for ~$100-150 a head, especially if what I've read about swim-up blackjack is true!

To guarantee a great deal, I make sure to charge everything to the Underhill's.
