    My Trip Report

    The pretrip -
My buddy Mike and I planned this trip around Easter, 2 weeks or so before the trip his married girlfriend forbid him to go....believe that shit? So, Da Tuna goes solo...

Flight was a 1/2 hour late
    Checked into venezia suite
    Went downtown to el cortez
Went to cortez cafe, service was slow as hell. The food was nothing to write home about, but not terrible. Decided to give them some action so I went to club cortez and joined. Sat down at a $25 minimum table, donated $400 in an hour and a half.
Left el cortez, caught a cab to IP. Signed up for a players club card. Walked around the entire casino and couldn't find a 3/2 table so I left. Started walking to Venetian and stopped in casino royale, went to the wheel of fortune slots, put in a hundred and doubled it. A little background on me, I'm not a slot guy. Period. I am, however, a sucker for the wheel of fortune spin. I'm not in it for the million dollar progressive, I'm not in it to line up the symbols... I just want to spin the fuckin wheel.
*So, I cash out the $200 and on my way to the venetian.
I get on a $15 minimum table and lost $300.
I decided to go to the bar and play some VP. It wasn't as glorious as this board made it seem. Lost $200 fairly quickly. While I was sitting there a guy comes up to me and starts talking football (I was wearing my Richard Dent jersey). It turns out he's a year older than me, we went to the same highschool and he's good friends with a couple of my friends and my brother in law. He got married at the venetian earlier in the day (sucker) so I went ahead and picked up his tab for his drinks.
Went to the room for the night, it's been a long day and the losses are starting to frustrate me.
Woke up at 7AM which is sleeping in for me considering that's 9AM central. Go downstairs and grab a coffee before walking into the casino. I sit down at another $15 table with a dealer (who I won't name), I put bets up for him several times and I swear the guy was tipping his hand to me or he was just a very good player himself. Since I was tipping him that often, the pit boss let me know that he was rating me at $25 a hand. He told me the name of the game is "take care of his dealers and he'll take care of me". I went up $800 in a short amount of time so I asked the pit boss to raise the table limit to $25. I kept getting people sitting down for 1 or 2 hands with fifteen or thirty dollars and completely fucking up the shoe for me. I don't understand why people do that, jump in for one hand and leave? For the rest of the day I sat at this table playing $25/$50/$100 a hand. When I say the rest of the day, that's no exageration. The only times I left were to go to the bathroom and to eat twice. I finished the session +$2200. not bad for someone like me, I went down there with $3,000 total so I was really happy. Went up to the room and fell asleep around 11PM.
**Next morning (monday) I went downstairs for my coffee before I went in the casino. I was wearing a shirt that had the bears symbol with the words "the good" next to it, right underneath that it has the packers symbol with the words " the bad" next to it and underneath that it has a vikings symbol with the words "the ugly" next to it. This shirt was a conversation starter to say the least. I sat down at a $25 table and started playing $50 a hand. The pit boss was great, originally from Pitsburgh, big steelers fan. He and I were just busting this cowboys fan's balls for what seemed like 4 hours. I decided I had to leave the Venetian and see what was going on outside. I caught a cab to Bills because.... fuck walking in a100 degree whether. I wasn't getting a good vibe in their casino. I like Bill's, it just wasn't the right day. I walked over to Flamingo to play some BJ, mostly because I wanted to spread my play around being new to having a players card (signed up for all of them this trip). I sat down at a $25 table and played for about 2 1/2-3 hours before leaving down $600. I don't know if that was enough to generate an offer but I guess we'll see. I went to Margaritaville for lunch, i really wanted to try those nachos I hear so much about. I went to the bar and told the man I wanted the nachos, he pointed over at this giant stack and told me thats what was left after two people ate them. I couldn't bring myself to order them after that. I refused to be "that guy", you know, the 300lb guy alone, at the bar, with nachos stacked about 3' tall in front of him. I opted for the steak fajitas. They were good, not great...
*Started walking back to Venetian, popped back in to Casino Royale to do another hit and run to their wheel of fortune machine. The machine took its hundred dollars back.
*Got back to the Venetian and played Bj (same limits) for the rest of the night. I got a text from my brothers wifes brother (got that?) telling me the plans for his bachelor party are starting to come around and it's gonna be in Vegas, do I want in? I called him and he found it funny that I was already in Vegas. He asked me if I knew how to get a cheaper rate. That got me thinking so I walked over to the host by casino credit and asked him if he could look at my play and tell me what kind of offers I could expect. He told me that the bare minimum is $25 a hand for 4 hours, he said i currently had 22 1/2 hours so I will definately be getting room offers but he didn't know what tier (not sure what that means). I asked him if my play warranted having a host and he said absolutely and handed me his card. Is that really how it's done? I always assumed hosts were assigned for some reason.*
So I go back to the table and start thinking about the bachelor party trip. There's no fuckin way the wife lets me take back to back trips without her....UNLESS....she associates my solo trips with me winning (considering i lost my ass when she was with me last Feb.). So off to Caesars forums I go. Picked her up the second biggest "sporty bag" from Louis Vuitton. She's been telling me for about two years how much she wants that purse. So now, everytime she looks at the purse she'll remember how she got it. I told her that I lost everything but $250 and am currently on the plane home about to surprise her (I'll let you know how it goes).
Went to bed that night around 12.
Woke up this morning, got my coffee and went to the Bj table. Like a dumb ass I gave them back $900. Went upstairs, packed my stuff and headed to the airport.

    Some thoughts...
•While the venetian is a great hotel (by far my new favorite), the venezia tower sucks. 2 elevators and several hallways to get to the room. I would stay in venezia again if that was the only thing left in the venetian. It wasn't bad enough to deter me from staying there if it came down to it.
•This trip confirmed to me that if for some reason California, Illinois and Canada weren't allowed to go to vegas, the place would shut down in a week.
•American Airlines....who the fuck wants to see Leap Year? Who is in charge of picking these movies?
•Nobody loves Vegas more than the Chinese. Not racist, just an observation...

    Thanks for reading!

Nice report my friend. I too am a sucker for the WOF spin. Your blackjack win makes me want to play it again, I had gotten away from that game.

--Quick thing on being "that guy" I had about $180 in comps ready to expire at the Taj Mahal, so I'm sitting in my suite and order room service. A grilled cheese on Rye and 2 bottles of V.O. The dude comes up with a HUGE bucket of ice, lots of glasses, swizzle sticks, expecting an awesome party to find.....me watching tv in my shorts. I too can be..That guy. Remember people talk about "that guy" they never forget "that guy" better than vanishing like a fart in the wind!

Update: landed at ohare and my wife and kids were waiting for me at the bottom of the escalator by baggage claim. I had my luggage and Louis bag behind me, when I got to the bottom I pulled it around to show her...she almost collapsed. Told her about the september trip while I had her in the moment and she told me its no problem. +1 Tuna

is it too early to call the V and ask about a room for september or should I wait the four weeks to see the offers? How long does it take for the BJ points to register on the internet, I logged on and it only showed slot points...suggestions and any answers to these questions (and questions in the TR) are appreciated!

nice report! In addition to California, Ill., and Canada keeping Vegas in business, I would add Texas to that list as well. More often than not, new people I meet at the tables are from Texas.

nope, you read that right. She's married, dating him on the side and forbid him to go.

for giggles I called V this morning because I'm anxious to set up the september trip. They rated my average @ $35 for 25 hours and 19 minutes

Hilarious! Is your buddy an Elephant Man/Rocky Dennis/Shrek compilation where he couldn't get laid at frat party full of drunken Freshmen?

No, believe it or not he's above average looking, does very well for himself but he's always put himself in relationships filled with drama. He is not married to answer that question.

Did you ask about offers when you called the V......I know I currently have a V/P offer that is good for as many trips as desired 4 comped nights until the end of September. The great thing about Club Grazie is just before one offer expires, they send another.
btw, your friend needs his head read......I wouldn't "forbid" my husband to do something. I can't imagine why a guy would take that from someone who is married to someone else! He should have told her he wanted to run his trip by her husband to see if he'd mind him being out of town for a few days. I'm guessing that would have shut her up.

I did ask about offers, they said I should be seeing them in about 4 weeks. I don't know if there's a way to see them sooner, if there is, someone please tell me how...I really want to set this September trip up ASAP.

You're right about my buddy, I've tried to tell him this several times, he doesn't listen. I've been caught up in a dysfunctional relationship before and didn't listen when my friends told me to get out so I try not to judge him...he's not making that easy though.
