    Gambling in Vegas

I am with BeeeJay on the difference between gambling in Vegas and in other places. Our closest casino is about 3 hours away in Lake Charles, LA. We do drive over and play once in a while (they comp well enough--I can get a free room anytime but their food sucks...we bring our own) but it is just not the same as Vegas. So much difference in the vibe and variety. If we are losing are losing at one place, we can walk outside and have options in every direction.

I guess you could say low quality blow is what is available outside Vegas; gotta go there for the "good stuff"...

thanks Breanna, I'll try to respect the Palazzo and not leave too much of a mess since your coming shortly after me!:evillaugh

I keep bouncing between budget levels. Should I play more/less, etc. I may not be back til October and I already have that reserved at Caesars so I'm leaning towards it being pointless to play heavy (from the comp perspective), and also my friends are more $25 and less guys this trip so not sure I need to bring a big bankroll. It may serve me better to play at off places like Casino Royale and save my comp-earning play for a later trip. Sometimes you can only hurt your ADT.

Of course this analysis completely ignores the fact that for 22 straight trips I have made a plan to low-roll and ended up betting larger than planned while stumbling, bumbling, and fumbling chips everywhere in a method that is anything other than comp-efficient.

The one thing I can hang my hat on is that I am not "playing for comps"....no matter how hard I try!!!! :wink2::nono::evillaugh:evillaugh:nono::wink2:

    Wire It...

I say wire a good amount in case you decide to "go big" and then you'll have the option...

I know my best friend could easily play 10x (okay...100x) what I could; I would never want him to do anything less than what he wanted to do betting-wise just to stay in line with me.

If everyone has fun, how much does the disparity in bets really matter?

I also live about 30 minutes from Seminole hard rock. I go once in a while, but it's nothing like Vegas. They do take advantage of being the only game in town. No craps or roulette (thanks to Fl legislature that is still fighting with the Governor over having table games at all), $15 and up table minimums (mostly up), no free drinks, weak video poker, etc. I find myself just saving for trips to Vegas, or even Biloxi.

$10 minimum table rules can be a couple percentage points worse than $100 tables which is enough to be considered if you are going and playing a lot at those levels. A 0.16% house advantage BJ table vs. a 1.6% table, theoretically your bankroll should last 10 times longer.

What I decided to do is take a small amount with me and take a few debit cards in case I decide to go $3K a day instead of $1K.

Another option I considered is going small ball days 1 and 2 and then going real big day 3, which would be fun.

I have a one year ban there for the last 3 weeks now :( . So been wasting my time playing in poker games that are unsafe, raked too high and not fun at all to me. I am trying to get my summer schedule now so I can get everything together for some trips then. I am really trying to get out there for the april 23-26 and the big aria blackjack tourney. I really want to have one low roller trip alone, to see how its like and seee if i can handle it with my friends.

enjoy the april trip, we will be waiting patiently.

If you play in the high limit room its free drinks, also if you are playing at any table you can have the pit poss authorize the free drinks, and any host can as well. So you can still get free drinks, plus the plum lounge which is a nice change for that casino. Free real good food each day, unlimited top shelf (McCallan 25 for me) and 2 free hand rolled cigars each day. But, none the less I hate the place and won't be giving them any action for atleast another 11 months 2 weeks or so

I wouldn't risk more on bad odds; I guess I was considering similar odds like craps and roulette. BJ is a little different with the differing rules and Whackjack crap...

Sounds like you are ready either way!!

I didn't know that about the high limit room, I thought no free drinks might be part of their compact. But high limit room is a little out of my comfort zone.

I'm confused... aren't BJ rules the same regardless of the table min?

Hey BeeeJay, glad you enjoyed your trip to my home town, Omaha. I will be in Vegas the same time as you next week. Maybe I will stumble over to the Palazzo and buy you a drink! I am having the same thoughts as you as how to play this trip. I gambled my ass off at PHO and received an OK offer( 3 nights, 200 chips, 2 free show tickets to PeepShow, and 25 resort credit). I also gambled a little at Bellagio, and I nearly received the same deal there. I play Craps most of the time, 135-130 across, place the point, $5 each hard way, every roll, and take press every hit. Reading your post, you sound just like me.
