The course is too long now for stiffs like Furyk, Zach Johnson, and Stricker.

They wouldn't even give Stricker then win if he had low score because his tears would stain the floor of the Butler Cabin green. I can just see him blowing his nose on Jim Nantz' suit handkerchief.

Els is still fighting that pull, not a good shot on #12, #13. Still like him a lot, he is my second choice. If he was 25 to 30-1 I would like him a lot better.

Still no one picked my choice.

I asked the scratch golfer here and he said Tiger will shoot 40 under. LOL. Tiger will shoot anything 40 OR UNDER that breathes.

 

Camilo Villegas has been playing well but i can't pronounce his name so hard to bet on him
I kind of like Kim at 40-1

 

Beeejay, do you golf much? you really seem to know the weak points of osme of these golfers, as well as the shots needed on certain holes at Augusta.

Did not look at the odds list to try to decipher who you have your eye on, but I think Villegas also has a shot as he is long, has won and finished high this year, is brash, cocky, and I do not think the nerves affect him like they do for Sergio.

 

Im a 10 but I play maybe 2-3 times a year max now.

Camillo doesnt have the fast green putting skill necessaru to win at Augusta. You may recall his playoff loss to Paul Casy in WGC match play he missed a 23 inch putt to win the match and go to the finals. Other than that he has the proper game and wins but needs maybe 5 more years and a few higher showings in majors.

i am much more a golf fan than player. a lot depends on weather conditions as well. the effect of the groove rule changes will be more apparant at Masters than anywhere else so far. looking for a lot of balls from 2nd cut going thru back of greens which spells double bogie at Augusta. BIG advantage for someone depending on weather.

Well if I wasn't so happily married I woulda ***SPRUNG*** for that open first class seat next to me for this tall lean scamp, but alas I'll stick with my Grade A wife and kids.

A good primer for Vegas hooker conversations though. Peanut I may need you to escort me to lunch on Monday for my own safety! lol.

T-19 hrs, actually feeling a twinge of excitement.

And oh yes.....so I am debating my bets for the Masters. I think the most fun would be to go $200 on 5 different guys. Golf is just so low percentage that it would be most fun that way. 28*$200 is still a nice bone. Another method I might go with is 5 $200 bets and 1 $1,000 bet on Ogilvy, but only if things go really well. I'll have to make a plan with complex decison tree I can ignore after drop one of alcohol hits my tongue.

Ogilvy is a good choice at 28/1. He's won a lot of tournaments with strong fields. He doesn't hit the ball very straight off the tee, but that's not much of a concern at Augusta. He does putt well and makes lot's of birdies. He's never done much at the Masters before, but maybe this will be his year.

The TV ratings are going to be off the chart this year because of you know who. It should be a fun tournament. Have a good trip.

 

Yes, the course is playing longer and the guys I mentioned might be on the shorter side but, the short games for Stricker and Johnson are GREAT. The grooves shouldn't bother them that much. I would put Stricker up against almost anyone on any greens.


Ogilvy is a good pick and good luck with him winning it for you....

Stricker is the best putter in the world right now. That can't hurt matters. My only negative for him is that he is a "keep it in play" guy off the tee, by no means short, all these guys I am calling short are long hitters, but with the mega long course now, and the lack of open-style penalties for innaccuracy, I think the real bombers, the longest 5 or 6 guys who are real players, not JB HOlmes or Bubba Watson, I mean Mickelson, Els, Woods, Ogilvy, maybe Vijay, complete games but bomb and gouge guys basically. I think they have an advantage. Weather could change this though. If its dry those guys like Furyk get roll and minmize the difference because the bomb and gougers can't use trajectory to hold greens, you HAVE to use spin and the Furyk, Zach Johnson type might have a chance.

All my analysis is probably worthless, its all who gets lucky with the putts dropping, which is why the best guy ever wins 25% of the time.

 

I think you are right about the bomb and gouge guys having an advantage over those keep it in play types. With the new grooves playing from the fairway will be an advantage. Like you said the first cut or second cut would have the balls roll through the green.

I believe we could debate this for a very long time and the winner will be some guy that gets hot for 4 rounds and becomes a household name. (Zach Johnson)

 

it just depends, if it is wet there won't be enough roll for the shorter guys and the bomb and gougers will be able to stop it from rough with trajectory as opposed to spin.

i doubt it will be a guy like zach or that one lefty for a long while again, its a man sized course now.

 

After all this speculation, someone like Miguel Angel Jimenez will probably win.

 

T-7 hrs....putting final touches on packing, then off to work for a short day.

The clock always moves like molassess on the last day. At least I got in a solid 9 hrs sleep last night for the first time in about a month. no kids with stomach aches or ear infections...what a fluke, the gambling gods must know ill need my wits about me to hit 3 royals, 2 4oak, and untold bj's!

Els is dialed in right now. You can break me off a taste of your winnings after you cash that ticket for $2,000...

 

so $1,000 on Ogilvy and $500 on Els perhaps, depending how the weekend goes. If I hit that progressive at NYNY, add a zero to each.

 

I'd say go with Ogilvy and as a long shot, Mike Weir ... Go Canada!
