    My Trip Report

    Hi everyone,

Well we or should I say "I" (snort) decided that we would stay at the Bellagio. Beautiful, beautiful hotel I ended up booking a room with a fountain view. With all the promo codes out there we paid a pretty good rate. The room was worth every penny as the fountain show was amazing during the day and evening, and the view of the strip was really nice too. The TV in our room played music that was synchronized with the fountain show. On a side note when we checked in that Saturday the hotel was sold out for the weekend so if you want a lake front view I personally think it's worth paying the extra. Also, if you can try not to check in/out between 12:00 - 2:00. Holy crap the line ups to check in/out are "really, really" long.

The hotel room was really nice, bathroom was really big. Everything you've read about their beds is true. The bed was the most comfy bed I have ever slept on, and the pillows were amazing. The best part of the room is that we didn't have to get out of bed to open and close the shears and drapes it was all done by remote that was next to the bed. I sure want to get that at home.

It was hot, hot, hot when we were there last week (110 plus during the day) Toured most of the hotels on the strip. The nicest was the Wynn (got 2 free buffets) and the most disgusting and dirtiest was Hooters. The Palazzo/Venetian had a horrible smell being pumped into the casino. What the heck is up with this? We also found the Flamingo stunk like coconuts.

We went to see Elton John's Red Piano show at the Colosseum, Caesars Palace - excellent concert. I didn't realize that he was so short and fat - LOL. The only thing that ticked us off was a bottled water and a drink cost us 20.00 - nuts They were also charging 7.50 for a super small box of popcorn.

We also went to see Jersey Boys at the Palazzo (300.00 for two tickets). It's the life story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. This is a must see the show was amazing, and it was worth every penny. The lead in the show sang exactly like Franki Valli...

Sherry --- Sherry baby sherry ---- sherry baby
sherry --- baby ---- sherry can you come out tonight
come come, come out tonight, come, come, come out tonight

All in all Vegas was pretty good. We're still tired from all the walking.

    Couple of things....

Two coffee's and a muffin at our hotel cost us 18.00 -worst coffee in the world next to Starbucks. We could not find a decent cup of coffee in Vegas. I guess we're spoiled here in Canada as Tim Hortons coffee rocks.

The dinner buffet at the Bellagio for two was 60.00, and breakfast was 40ish (best buffet for breakfast/dinner). We got 4 days worth of line passes for signing up for a players card at the Bellagio. It also helped that we were hotel guests at the Bellagio. So glad we got this as the dinner line up was crazy - we sure got a lot of dirty looks going thru the line pass line - LOL

Bottled water was 6.00 - go to the ABC store it's .99

Mini Bar at the Bellagio is really expensive - go to the ABC store it's cheaper.

The Wynn buffet is not bad. We found lunch and dinner was the same. I personally thought the Bellagio was 100 times better.

The food at Planet Hollywood (Planet Dailies)was pretty good. They make the best strawberry mojito's.

The Fashion Outlet mall rocks. Miracle mile is just ok.

We found the best place for slots was at Planet Hollywood. Played there most days until three in the morning. I was having a blast playing HooDoo the cat slot machine. Pay outs are a heck of lot higher at Planet Hollywood than at the Bellagio or Caesars. Does anyone ever win at these two casinos?

This is a personal thing.... At 2 in the morning there were people pushing around strollers these poor kids were crying - what the heck is wrong with these parents. Also, during the day they were crying because it was so hot. Sorry but I don't think Vegas is for kids. This is why there's Disney World for them.

Thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to answer my questions, and thanks for posting the promo codes. The codes saved us a lot of money. Thanks again it was greatly appreciated.

I just booked our next vacation. We're heading off to Punta Cana for two weeks in Jan/09. Vegas will be on the list again for next year.

Very nice report. I see it was your first trip to vegas...congrats!!! As you found out prices vary depending on hotel and what "area" of hotel you are at. Personally, I hit the vending machine in my hotel before heading out for a bottled water or soda. Any show or pool area will rob you blind for any drink. Have something before the show, hit gift shop for drink after...same thing with the pool areas bring your own water from the vending machine. You also were staying at a high end hotel, makes drink prices worse. Sure you can get a drink for a tip while gambling...but let's face it, they are not very large, and you can wait forever for service. I carry a bottle around with me all day.

I would love a room at Bellagio with a view of the fountains, but I am too cheap. Thanks for the headsup on the buffets..I was planning on doing Bellagio and Wynn both.

First time I went to Disney and Vegas both, I was hit with sticker shock for basics. I have just learned how to get around it..lol.

I haven't tried the slots at Planet Ho since the reopening of the hotel...maybe I will give them a whirl this trip also, Fashion Show Outlet great place...hubby likes to hit the Apple store.

Glad you had a great time...welcome to adult Disney Land!

Thanks for the TR. If you think the beds at Bellagio are comfy try the beds at Wynn. They seriously are the most comfortable beds ever!!

Nice TR. Maybe someday I'll say at the Bellagio. I totally agree with the odor at the Venetian and Palazzo... I ended up leaving.

Great report. I agree with you about the beds at the Bellagio. I might only get 5 hours of sleep but I felt so rested that it seemed like I got 9 hours. I agree with you about small children and Vegas. They just don't go together; and, why would you bring a small child to Vegas? How much fun can you have when you have a small child to look after?

Stayed at the Palazzo & Hard Rock in April this yr

I thought the Palazzo was outstanding- I really did not notice an odor. The room was beautiful. Had sunken living room with a big ass tv and then the bedroom had another big ass tv and the the bathroom had a smaller ass tv (in case you didn't want to miss am news@!@ Ha L oved the remote control drapes - but it was too far to see the fountains. We were up high over TI but they were redoing the show.We Stayed 3 nites comp at Palazzo and 2 nites comp the Hard Rock. Not real sure how this came about but it did and we said Helllllll yeallll we'll come. The beds were very comfortable at both places but more better at Palazzo In the bathroom at Palazzzo there is an awesome shower- I could of lived there. We were there in April and I am ready to go AGAIN NOW but I probably wont' for a while. I did win $718.00 on a Deal or No Deal penny macihne playing the max. That was exciting!!!!

Any way you guys have fun. See ya sometime. Neon

Agreed about Bellagio's buffet being superior to Wynn's.
Also with you on the kids being toted around at all hours of the night.

Wonderful TR especially you did almost exactly what I plan to do in 2 days! We will be at the B for the first time, seeing Bette (already seen Elton) & The Jersey Boys. We also landed tics to Spamalot at the Plazzo (sorry to hear about the smell). Just wondering, did you do the 150 point thing at the Wynn for the 2 buffets? Thanks for sharing.

Yes we did the 150 point thing and we won on the spin for signing up for the card. Didn't even know we got to 150 points until after we did the spin. If I recall the free buffet is only good for 24 hrs. If you go back within a reasonable time after it has expired they said they will extent it.
You'll love Jersey Boys the lead who plays Franki Valli is amazing. Hubby didn't want to see it because he thought it would be dumb and annoying listening to the Four Season songs. Didn't help that I was singing Sherry all day - LOL. In the long run he was really impressed and glad we went to see it as he really enjoyed it.

Just remember to go to the Wynn for Spamalot not the Palazzo.

I don't know if it's just us, but I can't really pin point the scent (Lavender perhaps) at the Palazzo & Venetian as it hits you as soon as you open the doors and gets worse once you get into the casino.

Thanks for the TR. I also REALLY loved Jersey Boys. I couldn't stop singing the songs -- ended up buying the CD on Amazon.com and it was alot cheaper than the one they sell at the theater. This is a must show for everyone!

Also agree about the kids. That's one of my biggest peeves about Vegas and I can't help but give parents a pointedly dirty look. Those poor, poor screaming and crying babies!

I get many comps from the Palazzo which is great because that's by far my favorite hotel... I like it more than Wynn. I know what you mean about the smell, but I like it. Funny, sometimes I smell it in my luggage when I get home!

I am not 100 percent positive but I think the buffet at Wynn is good for 24 hours once you activate it, if you don't activate I think you have like 12 months or something.
