I stayed there for a week back in 1997. I enjoyed it. A true resort that had everything you'd need/want back then. I had a 1st floor patio room right off of a private pool area. To get to it you'd walk down a hallway covered with classic Vegas photos from the 50's and 60's. It was older at the time, compared to the MGM super properties near it, but they embraced that in everything and offered a fantastic classic Vegas experience. No resort fee either. They had live entertainment and lounge type singers in several areas of the property each night. Great staff.

I bet none of that can be said now. :)

We stayed there last Nov, we really liked the room it was good size, what we did not like was the lack of food options, this may have change sense last November. Anywho if you want pictures of the rooms we have some in the trip report Mr. and Mrs. Vegas were on a mission from god.

If you're going on a comp or are a Hilton Honors member, Do not stand in the main registration line. To the right, there is a separate desk for Hilton Honors and invited guests.

Is that for any Honors member or just above a certain tier level?

Did they reopen it? They had removed it on my visit earlier this year. I asked and was told they might bring it back.

I stayed there for 2 nights on an emergency last minute stay after the Southwest Airlines fiasco cancelled my flight and I needed somewhere to stay. The room was fine but I was spoiled with the very nice rooms I had been staying in previously so that may have made me a little more judgmental. No fridge but the bed was nice and comfy so that was all I really cared about.

The casino was dead basically the entire time and as a slot player they had no unique slots so I did my gambling elsewhere for those 2 days.

I believe the separate desk to the right was open but they were just taking people from the regular line and I saw no signage to indicate it was a comp/honors line.

I literally walked in there a month ago and thought it should just be closed rather than operated in it's current state. It's rough.

That's kind of what I figured. It doesn't look the same at all when you drive past it.

I just don't see anything happening until the new owner takes control. I'd think that would be happening soonish?

yikes new owners again? They seem to change owners every couple years or so. It's sad, the place was pretty cool after they remodeled in 2010 or whenever, but then the first ownership change happened and it fell right off. Lot's of potential if they could find an owner to stick around long enough with a solid management team.

Last I gambled there was in 2018, the place was empty and we honestly woke the dealer up at the blackjack table. Last I was there in general was Feb 2020, I saw Mitch Fatel was gonna be at the Laugh Factory so I swung by in the afternoon to buy tickets then again later that evening for the show, and the place was just as dead as it was in 2018. The show itself was great and there was a decent crowd, but it's like everyone just vanished as soon as it ended.

We just stayed there for 2 nights at the end of September. We were comped so that is the only reason I would stay there. The casino was fine but the drink service was very slow. While we were there, it was quite busy in the casino. I think there was a convention of some kind going on. All of the employees we encountered were very friendly.

Our room was standard and we had a view of the Excalibur and Luxor. We went to the pool both days and there were a few other people sitting around. The good thing was that beer was $20.00 for a bucket! There were a couple of closed swim up blackjack tables. The last time we stayed at the Trop, back in about 2018, those tables were open and people were playing.

It actually made me a little sad thinking about how the resort was back in it's heyday. If you need to use the washroom, you go back inside the building and enter this space that is very desolate that obviously used to be a much busier spot. Everything was all closed up and it was very quiet - eerie almost. There is another pool there that is totally closed up and a fence has been put up around it. You can see through the fence though and again, it looks really sad. The path to the wedding chapel looks like it hasn't been used in years. There were weeds growing and it looked like it hadn't had any maintenance done for awhile.

I want to like the Tropicana because it's old school and it's a classic. But I'm hoping that the new owners spruce it up and bring it back to some of it's former glory.
