After reading some of the latest Trip Advisor reviews of Flamingo, we are going to cancel with them. Has anyone experienced a problem receiving your refund? We are 3 weeks away from our trip. We will be booking elsewhere. Tia

you prepaid your reservation through Flamingo directly?
there should be no problem with your refund unless for some reason your reservation had a non cancellable feature or penalty. otherwise, this far out you should have no problem with receiving a refund

Thank you. We booked through the hotel. So, I guess no worries then.

Always smart to book direct.....cancelling should be easy. I have always done mine on line with refund received in a few days.

Probably talking about the single night they charge with most reservations as a deposit.

Those reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.

Yes, reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.

Everyone's idea's about rooms, food etc. are different.

I also wouldn't change a reservation due to Tripadvisor reviews. Looking at the current ones there, the issues mainly seem to be with with housekeeping, which is going to be just about everywhere right now.

Especially TripAdvisor, which can be a useful resource, but generally speaking, people are there to complain. The average person isn't sitting down to praise a property.

With online reviews in general, I just tend to look for trends. For restaurants, for example, the "I didn't like this" reviews are pretty useless (my girlfriend haaaaaates Hattie B's because she thinks it's way too spicy). But if 20 reviews all basically say the same thing, that's something I pay attention to.

Agree, but several recent reviews here also haven't been flattering.
I'd say it does tends to attract a younger party/pool crowd. Less time to clean and wear is going to show up a lot more in rooms that have been abused or partied in.

It's called the dirty bird for a reason. Flamingo and Rio are definitely bottom of the barrel CET Vegas properties these days. Bally's or Linq would be good alternatives.

What about the posts here on VMB? Seems pretty negative for the Flamingo lately. Still much more useful discussion and information than other places.

Due to a family emergency I cancelled Flamingo online 2 days before a trip either late last year or early this year and I initially didn't get the deposit refunded. My cancellation was before the 48 hour deadline.

So I called CET and they said the computer still looked at the old pre-covid 72 hour deadline and that I should call in if it's within 72 hours. I thought that was very strange but I did get my deposit back after I called. If I ever have to cancel last minute like that again I will always call.

I'm at the Flamingo in a couple weeks, don't really matter about reviews, I've had both good and bad experiences previously at all of the CET properties. It's central location is the best so it's plenty tolerable for me.

Have stayed at the Flamingo a few times (most recently this past March), and the only complaint I have is being forced to use the kiosks at check-in. We ended up having to wait in a different line to check-in with a person, since we needed to use a different CC than the one we booked with. Maybe if their Diamond Check-in room was open, it would be better. Other than that, really liked the Flamingo rooms (most recently updated) and definitely a great location.

First 3 nights comped at Aria, now I think we may book the other 5 at Vdara.

Oh, I usually do, but it seems to be quite the same for there wherever I look. I know most people would rather post a complaint than a compliment.

Yes, and I do, but I've always used it and so far its not steered me wrong, along with my own judgement.
