It amazes me how some can be so easily scared by TSA. With all do respect their glorified mall security. No detain powers, no arrest powers. If law is broken they call airport police who can detain/arrest you.

Flying with cash isn’t a worry if doing it domestically.. Over the last 15 years have always carried cash granted not 6 figures but pretty close. TSA has never batted an eye.. (I do for back up carry bank receipt though)I get more attitude from the bank teller taking out 50k.. all I say when they ask what’s all that money for.. It’s my money mind your business..

    Back on topic..

Great trip report, even better win!

I think most love to tell winning sessions. I know I do. Last trip in June I was live trip reporting.. Nothing feels better being up 20k in 12 hours.. -35k the next 4 days thus the live report stopped..

UK once I get over you being a Kentucky fan wouldn’t mind gambling with you one time. Bac is slow to me but hey drinks and bullshitting would be cool. Ill show you how I get those sports book drink tickets!

Once again great trip report.. A plus like normal well done sir.

Actually, I play bac really fast. Its another reason I look for empty tables. My record was an entire shoe dealt in 24 minutes. A dealer adnd I at Mandalay decided we would see how fast we could play it. But usually I finish a shoe in about 40 minutes. A few older dealers have told me the way I play is how the game was dealt decades ago. Apparently, before it became a popular game in vegas with Asian gamblers peeling the cards slowly, it was a very popular game with mexican and south american gamblers and they turned the cards fast like I do. I only want a second or two of suspense on each hand, lol.

Also, something else about current bac conditions I forgot to mention in my report: MGM is now using preshuffled shoes. I don't know if its all mlife properties or just the Grand, but now, instead of waiting for the dealer to shuffle all the decks for a new shoe, the cards come out pre-shuffled. All you have to do is cut them and you are ready to go. I like that because it keeps the game moving! Still, I am a little surprised they are doing it after the controversy at Venetian a few years ago (they stopped using the pre-shuffled cards there after that kerfuffle)

Can you share any details about the Venetian Kerfluffle? I have not heard of this.

Yeah if you put the cash in and won, generally yes. But for big players, if you want electronic, you don’t get a check. You play on credit and get a wire back.

I can't remember how many years ago it was, but V/P used to use pre-shuffled shoes for baccarat. Then one day, they dealt a shoe where the cards were not suffled and came out sequentially. As soon as the gamblers in the high limit figured it out, the table filled up and soon everyone was betting the max. The casino lost a ton on the shoe. I can't recall for certain, but I think not all the players got paid (I guess because it was an error and no longer a game of chance). They stopped using the pre-shuffled shoes after that.

I assume MGM is using a different company to produce the pre-shuffled shoes. The cards still come out in the same little cardboard box they have aways used (the V/P pre-shuffled shoes came out in a little plastic tray)

I though wow this room is so fancy it comes with a little kid in it

then I thought maybe the people that had checked out prior forgot him because he was hiding around there and housekeeping missed him too, but no need to feel bad he looked to be having a blast

then I thought it might be a subtle reminder to not get too crazy in Vegas least something does not stay in Vegas and instead follows you for the next 18 years at least

I really enjoyed the report and the pics were great and of a lot of cool stuff

I always see your screen name as a guy from across the pond not a Kentucky fan....I was wondering a bit about the cash because no talk of declarations then someone else mentioned Kentucky and I realized why no declarations because well you are flying in the USA not out of country and into another so TSA needs to know nothing

as for the dirty old guy making a comment to your partner remind her of the adage that in Vegas the hookers try and dress like college girls and the college girls are dressed like hookers.....so perhaps she was dressed too conservatively and it threw his dirty old ass off a bit

I can’t profess to like this game myself, but as you point out, it seems the entire Asian community in the Far East and south east Asia love it. What I really cannot stand is how they “peel” the cards to reveal spots on the card to determine the number. Destroy the cards more like. Hate it! I guess they pay for the pack several times over per hand.

I once went to Macau with my friends from Singapore, who came with a junket organized to play Baccarat. We were set up in a private area in the Galaxy entertainment casino on Cotai Strip. I watched in disbelief (as I refused to play, and certainly not to their level), as they lost hand after hand. It was beyond ugly. I’ve never seen anyone go back for more credit than that evening. I remember storming off as I couldn’t watch anymore.

In Macau and Singapore, I have also witnessed people 4 deep over a table that was running hot for the players. Some crazy stuff over that game….

On the Monday night when we were tyring to avoid the HL crowd, there was one table with fourteen people at it. Whatever was happening, they were very excited!

I am strictly a blackjack player and I much prefer a hand shuffled shoe. First reason is it gives the table a chance to BS and take a break. The second reason is I have a bladder the size of a walnut and it gives me a chance to go take a leak. I must admit though, when you get on a hot streak the cards can't come out fast enough. UK, I have read this report three times now, it is one of the better ones and we all appreciate how you keep up with it and answer our questions.

At bac, even with the pre=shuffled shoe, there is still plenty of time for a quick break or bathroom run. Its funny, at BJ, I agree with you, I prefer the hand shuffle. The shuffle machine is too fast. But at bac, you have to wait for new cards every shoe, the dealer signing the box, removing and marking the old cards, and then finally shuffling. Its a long process, so the pre-shuffle is a nice convenience to speed it up a little

UK - Great report - thanks!

I think perhaps I gamble much like you did in your early years. I’ll have to give a negative progression style a try next trip. Thanks for explaining your approach.

By the way - those mansion pics were totally awesome. Thanks for sharing those.

Thank you for a great TR @UKFanatic ! Your last one was the first time I've ever heard about the Mansion so another one when you were staying there was awesome to read.

Congrats on the winning trip and great variety in gambling/family/fun time. Also, your Little Fanactic is adorable

    SPORTS BETTING CODA:

If you're not interested in sports betting, skip this entry.

As i wrote above, I started working on my NFL season future bets while I was out there and finished them up tonight. Too tired to write up a long explanation with my analysis, but here are my basic thoughts on the season and my wagers:

    Playoff Teams
    AFC East: Dolphins
    AFC North: Ravens
    AFC South: Titans
    AFC West: Chargers (top seed)
Wild Cards: Kansas City, and two of Buffalo, New England, Cleveland (I have all three of these teams at 10 wins)

NFC East: Dallas or DC (I have both at 8 wins; what a crappy division)
NFC North: Green Bay or Minnesota (I have both at 9 wins)
    NFC South: Tampa
NFC West: LA Rams (top seed)
Wild Cards: San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans

I have a higher power rating on Buffalo, KC, and Green Bay than the teams that I think will (or might in the case of Green Bay) beat them for the division. But the schedules favor the Fins, Chargers and Vikings. The other two that really surprised me when i crunched the numbers is the panthers (I have them at 9 wins) and Jags (7 wins). Even more surprising, the vegas lines are pretty close to those numbers. They were the teams this year that I predict will best exceed where their power rating says they should finish. Also, for the first time in the years I have been running my own analysis, I predict a team will go winless (the texans). But the return on that wager isn't enough to tempt me to bet it. Their best chance to win all year is probably week one!

For my bets, I found the lines on win totals to be pretty sharp this year. But I made more player props than in years past. part of me really thinks it could be an all-time season to bet the under on player props. with the grind of an extra game, plus potential covid problems, I would not be surprised by a bunch of under. In fact, an under on passing yards (Hurts) is my single largest wager of the season. Anywho, here are my futures bets:

    Cincy under 6.5 wins
    Detroit under 5.5 wins
    Houston under 3.5 wins
    Vegas under 7.5 wins
    Chargers over 8.5 wins
    Rams over 10.5 wins
    Fins over 8.5 wins
    Philly under 6.5 wins

Denver will not make the playoffs
Green Bay will not make the playoffs
    Rams will make the playoffs
Rams will lead the league in wins (14 to 1 payout on this one made the bet attractive)

Jalen Hurts under 3600 passing yards
Justin Herbert over 4500 passing yards
Robert Woods over 1000 receiving yards
Derrick Henry under 1525 rushing yards
Josh Jacobs under 1000 rushing yards

Ready for the season to get here Thursday!

a few thoughts on that debrief, (the good beginning part, msgs be like texts, sometimes don't read right)
besides choice of low HA game, phat BR, and self discipline,
our hero also had the positive karma of having a great time with his family,
with social/eating/non-gambling commitments that possibly reduced his chance of tilt degen time.

and same about not winning "enough" to walk away when at tiny stakes,
at my guppy level, I'm surviving, leaving up, or at least not broke, at these new $25 mins more than I ever did at $5 mins.
also something that comes with a lot of felted experiences, I suppose.

    Bravo on the TR,
