    My Trip Report

Just got home this morning after four nights at the Mansion at MGM Grand. There was no way I was going to try a live report of this trip. Still, I decided to try a little summary write up since I know VMBers like to read about and see stuff that they may not otherwise have the chance to experience (at least, I like that). I’m a bit exhausted, so no idea what I actually remember from the long weekend or how coherent this write up will be. I will try and summarize in parts. Let’s go ….

The plan for the trip started pretty simply. My partner wanted a late summer vegas getaway and she had convinced her parents to come join us and watch the little fanatic during the evening she and I went out. I’m always up for a vegas trip so I asked her where they wanted to stay. Knowing she was still envious after missing out on my previous Mansion trip last year, she asked about MGM Grand. We both agreed the skylofts are not a good idea for the little guy (way too much slippery marble everywhere). I said it couldn’t hurt to ask my host about the Mansion. So I did and he said no problem! He set up the whole family in a two bedroom villa and we excitedly planned for this trip for two months! In truth, there wasn;t a ton of planning. We knew we wanted a dinner at Robuchon. The in laws wanted to go see a show. And we all wanted a lot of pool time. Since it was too cold to enjoy the pool during my previous Mansion visit, that plan sounded great to me.

We flew to vegas Friday evening. The flight departed about an hour late. The in laws were scheduled to meet us in vegas 90 minutes after our flight arrived, so the flight delay wasn’t a bad thing. It was otherwise uneventful and we all got there close to the same time. After landing, our driver was waiting for us at baggage claim. We got our luggage, piled into an MGM escalade, and headed to the Mansion.

After we arrived and got out of the car, I could tell my partner was blown away. Even though she has experienced plenty of higher end stuff with me in vegas, the mansion entrance is an entirely different experience. The bellman took our bags while reception welcomed us with drinks, walked us through the atrium, and up to villa 25 on the second floor. Let’s get to what you care about. Here are pics of the absurdly large villa:

I think I heard an echo in this entrance hallway

I learned this weekend that the little fanatic is definitely not a music prodigy

I really love the monster sized couch

And this TV was as good a place as any to watch Bobs Burgers reruns

Seriously, this bedroom was larger than my first condo, lol

The closet might have been larger too:

It includes a motorized tie rack, which prompted my partner to comment that if you are brining thirty different ties to vegas, you're really not doing it right lol

Gotta love a bathroom with heated floors! One more pic

The villa was freaking huge. It was almost the size my house, lol. The baby loved it and immediately started running around everywhere. This two bedroom villa was a bit different than the one bedroom I stayed in last time. I really loved the media room with giant comfy couch. But otherwise, I think I actually liked the one bedroom better. This place was so big, there were seriously a few moments this weekend where we were wandering around looking for each other (or the little fanatic). Plus, the bedroom TV in the one bedroom was better and the veranda in the one bedroom was far superior. The veranda in this villa was much smaller and didn’t have any furniture to sit on. That was a little disappointing. But come in! I was in the freaking Mansion so I wasn’t going to complain.

We ordered some room service and unpacked. The in laws arrived right when the butlers were setting up the food. The meal was very good, but, to my surprise, there were a couple small problems I never would have expected. First, one of our sides we ordered from room service was not delivered. Not a big deal. We didn’t even call them about it. Still, for a hotel that prides itself on its service, that was a surprise. Second, there were a few flies in our villa as we ate. We live in the South, so a couple flies in summer aren’t going to bother us. But we did learn as the weekend went along, there was a serious fly problem in the mansion! Especially in the mornings we would encounter a swarm of them between the ground floor elevator and the atrium. I have no idea what they could do about that, but again, it definitely not what we expected.

We all ate and relaxed and caught up. After the meal, I stepped on the veranda to get a few pics of the atrium:

At that point, it was almost midnight. The rest of the family wanted to sleep, but I headed down to the high limit room to play a little before bed. I went by the cage to make sure my line was open. It was, but only for 100k. I thought I had asked my host well before the trip to increase it to 200k. I knew my host, though, is out dealing with family medical issues, so there was zero chance I was going to bug him about my line. Still, it caused me to pause and debate how big to play. I hate asking for a TTO, so I really didn’t want to exceed my line. So part of me thought I should play small and conservative. No. Screw that! I’m at the Mansion! Let’s gamble! Took out a marker for 80k and found and empty bac table.

I don’t remember any particularly memorable hands. But overall, it went well! My wagers varied between as low as $500 and as large as $7000. I quickly got up 12k, was soon down 14k, and eventually found myself up five figures again after a shoe and a half. At that point, I had been up for almost 22 hours straight and decided it was time for bed. I crept back to the Mansion and took a few more pics once there:

I crawled into bed exhausted. My partner and the baby were already fast asleep. Took me forever to fall asleep and the little fanatic, of course, woke up at 7am. So I was exhausted to start the weekend, but everything was going well. Will hopefully write more soon ….

That is a a crazy, crazy villa. I can tell it is high end everything. I mentioned "The Mansion" to my new neighbors, I didn't even know they like to gamble. Come to find out they have stayed there several times. I said let me tag along the next time you go. Enjoy your beautiful digs and hopefully you won't have to up your credit. Good luck.

It looks more like a high end private residence than a hotel. Many hotels say they are going for a “residential” look/feel, this one achieves it. The room reminds me in some ways of Four Seasons Biltmore/Santa Barbara. Thanks for the pics!

That's a really good description. I mentioned in my report form last year how the Mansion even sounds different when you get out of the car. Since its set away from everything, it really doesn;t feel like Vegas, yet vegas is just a few steps away if you want that experience too

Trust me UK that is the only way I will ever see the inside of one of those places. I don't think my 7k marker would qualify. My wife noticed the foyer tile is the same tile we have in our master bath. Kathy, my wife, has an interior designers license and she commented on the curtains ,carpet, plants, vases, furniture, towels, well basically everything. It is all high end stuff. Absolutely beautiful. Now run up to Walmart and buy a couple of fly swatters. Just kidding, coming from Florida we are used to it..

I always enjoy seeing how the beautiful people do Vegas. ;) Ardee taught me that the proper food for such a room is chicken wings and sliders so the butlers ask, "Would you like more ranch for your wings, ma'am." :haha:

And I loved the little sneak peek of my favorite future VMBer making tracks around the villa.
