Honestly, anywhere you want. I've had Thanksgiving solo at Picasso, takeout from Catch, bartop at Holstein's, and tons of others. It really just depends on what kind of food you're looking for.

My only caveat is that there are some places that aren't really conducive to solo dining because of the portion sizes (NOT because of the service). Carbone and Blossom are both best with a bunch of people, for example.

I eat solo all the time, usually at the bar. The thing I like about sitting at the bar is that there is usually no wait to get seated and there's no need to make reservations, especially for dinner, which is very convenient.

These are the ones that I've done the most.

    Sinatra
    Mon Ami Gabi
    China Poblano
    Grand Lux
    Terrace Pointe Cafe
    Blue Ribbon
    Holstein's
    Chica
    Lavo
    Bouchon
    Smith & Wollensky
    The Henry

There are more, but these are the restaurants that I enjoy the most for solo dining.

One restaurant that I really enjoy eating at a table while dining solo is LAVO, if I can get a table outside overlooking the fountains.

For downtown I love eating at the bar at Triple George.

Agreed on almost all counts. I'll say that I've had amazing service at Picasso despite a couple misses on the main course, I've had good service at Catch (though I know people there), and Beauty & Essex kind of bugged me when the first time I went the server came out and said, "Welcome to Beauty & Essex, where our head chef is celebrity Chris Santos, who you might recognize from television's 'Chopped'." Show, don't tell. Bavette's is phenomenal.

I like the food at Yellowtail, but D+ is pretty spot-on for service. Last time I was there, they brought out my rolls right away, but took an hour to get my gf's nigiri. And while I get that it takes a lot of skill to learn how to prepare, it shouldn't take that much time.

With the limited restaurants, Vegas being busy and many restaurants now reserved way ahead of time... Are you still making reservations as a solo diner? Ive looked at some of the restaurants and they have some availability for 2 guests but not one. Are you guys booking two and showing up solo?

I made reservations for almost all of my meals. If the website didn't offer reservations for 1, but did for 2, then I called up.

    I am mostly, yes.

And if they will accept an online rez for two at time I want to go solo, i book for two and tell them upon arrival... it's the same size table.

What has the restaurant reaction been when you show up and tell them that? I'm also a solo traveler and have thought about that tactic, but haven't tried it. I'm worried about the restaurant just denying me at that point.

What are they going to say... we dont want your business? No soup for you!?

If they're jerks about it, I dont want to patronize their business anyway.

I used that tactic at Catch and, perhaps coincidentally, they were jerks. Outside at check-in, they encouraged me to sit at bar, I declined....they sent me down the flower tunnel where a hostess greeted me with "just one?" they tried to put me at the bar. I declined again then she sat me at a bar high top. As I settled in, a host came up to me and accused "did you just sit here yourself?!" I replied no, but he declared the high top table reserved and moved me to a dining room booth next to a staff entry. Waitstaff literally balanced trays on my booth as they reached for the door handle. I felt rushed through my meal. Too bad... I thought the food fantastic.

My experience at Catch was similar when it came to the service level.. the host and bartender were both awful when it came to my take-out order. The food was very good but not sure if I ever want to stop by again due to the awful service I received.

I don't eat by myself, especially in Vegas. However, I'm not a fan of restaurants denying tables to solo diners. There are some solo diners (like myself) who probably order more food and drinks than what most couples might order. If the person wants a table, give them a table, especially if they are willing to wait.

Yes, exactly. Some restaurants do that, which is why I've been reluctant to try it. Many restaurants will tell you straight out that if your reservation or party has changed, it may be canceled. People think that means due to an increase in people that the restaurant can't handle, but in practice it can go both ways. If there's a waitlist for tables and they can readily replace what turns out to be a solo diner with a larger party that fits at that same table, some places do. My ex-wife was a chef, and I know hers and a few other restaurants here do that. Or at least they did pre-covid when it wasn't the diner's market that it is now.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to start giving that a try. I'm also not a fan of sitting at a bar for fine dining.

I take several solo trips a year and the Grand Lux at Palazzo is my favorite solo dining spot. The waiter even told me they specialize in late night solo diners

I think its extraordinarily unlikely in LV, when the table size is the same. I pity the restaurant that does that me.

That's why I was asking! Thanks, I'll likely try it on a future trip.

I've done the book for two but show up solo many times in Vegas. The only place that gave me attitude about it was Andiamo. I haven't been back since Circa opened and I have more choices for using my my F&B credit - it's a pity there were a few things on the menu I loved.
