When I very first started going to Vegas in the 90's I stayed at the GN and loved it. I lived in Denver and we went 4-5 times a year. The play was good, the entertainment was fun and I play at the other casinos I like downtown as well so I was always central. But I learned over time they didn't seem to care as much about my play and it was harder to earn comps so I branched out. I still sometimes stay there a couple days on a week trip just kind of an old times feel for me as for some reason I love to stay in the gold tower and come out of the elevators right in the casino. I know its weird but it makes me smile. Over all these years I try staying different places to get other feels. From places on the strip to staying at the Cannery. Now I mostly stay at the MSS or the Cal have done a couple nights at 4Q and even tried the Plaza last year I had a great Luxe room with a killer view of the Circa pool . Gary treated me right and I enjoyed my stay. I even Stayed at Binions a couple decades ago and it was interesting to say the least LOL. I'm planning a trip in November and wanted to try a couple new places since i'm solo and I find it kinda fun to have a moving day and stay at two different places. I booked two days in a Gold tower room for Wednesday and Thursday and then I booked the ELco for Friday to Monday in a mountain view room. So long story long I'm really having second thoughts on the Nugget and considering trying a Golden Gate suite or maybe a studio room at the DTG. What are your guy's thoughts on those two options. Or Is there some other place downtown that could be fun and cool to try ? I'm in for all opinions.
    Thank You

I honestly love the GG suite and think it's better then rooms at GN of comparable monetary amounts. Give it a shot and let us know how you like it.

@Here2Learn I'm kinda leaning that way. But I did just call them to ask about parking and the Gal said its 25 $ a day to park even for guests ??! I asked again and She said yes its 25 bucks. I have to have a car since I do a bit of work when I'm in town . I'm not cheap I was just surprised. I think she said Valet was 15 , I would do that and give the guy the other 10 so at least someone is working for it I guess.

Parking's definitely become a premium item downtown.

Does them refer to Golden Gate, Golden Nugget or ElCo?

I will second the GG suite. Very very nice product. Only thing I would caution on is how the bathroom/shower is set up. For me its a fantastic room for me on solo trips. If i was there with another, the lack of privacy could be a bit of an issue. Check out some room reviews if you aren't aware of what I'm talking about. But for my money the GG suite is one of the top products downtown. Because not only is it a nice room but the quality of the furnishings is superior to a lot of newer ones, such as the DTG which feels very IKEA

Last time I was at GG (which has been about 18 months) there was a surface lot caddy-corner to the property where you could park either free or a few bucks a day. A friend of mine parked there when he came DT to gambol. Quite possibly it isn't there anymore, but I know this seems to be how Stevens properties work. I never drive myself, but when I was looking into Circa its 25/day self-park or 7.50/day valet. Whatever...

great points everyone. Thanks for the thoughts.
I don't have a host there @bluesdude but good point, I'm sure if I played enough I could get a back side comp. Not a whale but I do bring a decent bankroll to play.

I'm sure you can get it comped with a decent amount of play. I know at the 2nd tier of the players card parking is free. That is one of the only benefits that differentiates the tiers. That said, unless something has changed, your hotel room key gets you out of the garage with no charge. A couple caveats though... I am always on a room comp and my stays have always been at the D. I can't imagine the policies are that different under the same ownership though unless the GG garage is owned by a 3rd party.

The suites at Golden Gate are quite nice and close to elevators so very convenient. Another vote for them here.

In my opinion, it's always good to try new places downtown. It's really a no lose situation (well..). What I mean by that is it's a small enough area that if you end up at a new place you don't like, you really only have to sleep there. That's one of the reasons I like it.

$25 to park at GG? Yuck. Within year ago, I was still using their valet which was free in the back. Would just tip as usual when I would leave.

It's good to try new places anywhere, as far as I'm concerned! Not every spot is to everyone's taste, but worst case, you don't like it and know that going forward.

So I dug a little deeper and read through the resort fee explanation during my booking and it says it covers the parking right in the paragraph that pops up. I went ahead and booked the Golden Gate suite for two days while I'm in Vegas in November and cancelled the reservation I had for the Golden Nugget. Thanks for the help and encouragement everyone.
