God no. Social media is just toxic. It’s just baffling some of the things I see on there.

"If something is free, you're not the customer; you're the product."

People want to participate on the web (see also: this message board) and interact with their friends, so why not offer that? Otherwise it would be all shouted down from above like network TV or cable TV, or newspapers without a comments section.

The ads by Google or Facebook that dominate the market are not some Faustian bargain - we don't have to click them.

Unless you are trying to sell something, why would you go to the trouble of using social media when 99% of it consists of people posting these 3 files. You can just open one of them up every couple of hours and be all caught up with what's going on.

I might. In a way, I already do. I pay for YouTube premium to get rid of the adds and also to be able to play YouTube on the background (especially when I’m in the car that’s quite handy).

No! It would be the perfect excuse for me to dump FB completely. I've taken it off my bookmarks bar and now maybe check it once a week. Dumping it would be better. I signed up thinking it was good to see what my nieces & nephews were up to, but I've come to realize their interests and mine don't overlap.

My vote is: "[Insert (in)appropriate colorful language here], No!"

Throw me in with the "I only use FB for MyVegas." crowd. I only play MV because I can get free stuff. If I had to start paying for it, that would defeat the whole purpose.

ETA: What is this "twitter" you speak of? :poke:

I'd contribute to get rid of some of them. (not LVMB)
Those and mobile phones have destroyed a lot of civility. (and no I'm not that old)

I'd be glad to pay if I was granted the option to control how all my data is collected and used.

Not going to lie I miss the MySpace days. It was much more tame back then. Now your average idiot has a platform to spew their garbage.

Like most here, NO. I use FB rarely now. I don't have any other social media accounts. I'm not especially against them it's more that I work in IT and I spend very little time near electronic devices when I am not getting paid to do do (apart from VMB). As for paying for it, given that we are the product it is illogical to pay for it.

I don't use FB or Twitter now. This and a couple other VEGAS Sites are as close as I get to unsocial media. So NO.

I voted yes but see I'm in the extreme minority
    Two reasons:

    1. I love Twitter and save lots of info, memes, funny videos, etc. to my bookmarks. Unfortunately there's no easy way to organize those bookmarks. Twitter Blue (their new paid service) allows you to create folders to manage the bookmarks. It's only available in Canada and Australia right now, but if the price is right when it launches in the US, that feature might be valuable enough for me to pay.

    2. I could see myself paying for social media along the lines of Facebook or Instagram IF it guaranteed I wouldn't be tracked and served creepy interest-based ads. That's a big if; I can't see any new competitors being successful enough to draw people away from Facebook/IG. I doubt FB would give up its data gathering operation for a membership fee, and even if they did, I wouldn't take them at their word.

I use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), but I won't pay to use them. I've found FB to be good for keeping in touch with friends and colleagues who are scattered all over the US and abroad, as well as for MyVegas. FB also has a number of users groups related to some of my hobbies which are pretty good. I started using Instagram when I got into 360 photography, since there are a lot others on Instagram (pros and amateurs) with similar interests. As for Twitter, it can be as toxic as you're willing to make it, but I block any and all toxic followers so my followers list tends to be sparse compared to some who have thousands and thousands of followers. LOL

No sir, Only Fans has never been a free site. Sure you can set up a free account, but anything worth anything is extra.
