I was playing at Cherokee earlier this week and heard two bigwigs discussing electronic changes to the machines. I know I heard them say that when changes were installed the player would order beverages through the keyboard on the machine. I "think" I heard part of a discussion that handpays may be handled in some form through the machine but I could have completely misunderstood that portion of their conversation. As soon as they recognized I could hear them they moved away from me. Sorry my sleuthing skills stink.

A few different casinos have the option to get W2-g via the machine. Cosmo is one of them. You do have to set it up in advance, but very handy for people that get multiple ones in a day.

A number of CET casinos have the drink order from the machine which works out great.

Not sure they would do drinks via the slots because there are no free drinks in Cherokee

They've had this at the now Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati since the time it opened as a Binions, you order whatever alcohol drink you want and then pay the waitress when they bring it too you. Works really well.

I just know Cherokee has been pay first. It is the largest casino outside of Vegas in the CET family and I can see lots of issues with the young crowd telling the server I am not paying 8 bucks for that shot of Fireball take it back, then what do they do. Just my 2 cents

It's their largest one in the world period. Their largest in the state of Nevada is Caesars Palace, which is just under 65% the size of the Harrah's Cherokee casino. And just for fun, Harrah's AC, Horshoe Baltimore, and a couple others are also larger casinos than any CZR property in Vegas.

Interesting question, I would have never thought of that. Next time I venture down, I'll have to ask the server how they deal with that, never would have crossed my mind.

They have this at Horseshoe Council Bluffs.

Just select "beverages", then "beer", then "Bud Light" and the service is usually prompt.

I think an even bigger issue is that people move from slot to slot and tracking them down can be tough if drink service is not fast.

In Council Bluffs they trust you to pay up. :) Actually, a couple of times they have said "I thought you were Diamond, it's comp" when I am only a lowly Plat. If you are playing with a card, I would assume that they would know if you changed machines. In any case, I have changed from one VP machine to a nearby one and they have found me. :)

My estimate is that it's usually about 5 minutes (in the daytime at least) from hit the button to drink in hand.

Is Iowa a state where a casino can give out free drinks (like Nevada) ? If not, how is it that they can comp a Diamond member? Doesn't EVERYBODY have to pay?

The bottom line appears to be that at this day, hour, minute and second, free drinks are allowed.

However (comma) for a long time after the local and native casinos opened, they were saying that it was illegal to give out free drinks. Then various freebees started to appear. Diamond (and equivalent at Ameristar) players get free drinks in the Diamond Lounge, at the bars, and on the floors. They were, for a while, having Free Beer Friday at Harrah's and free beer in the buffets on certain occasions. Currently, I am getting two free drink tickets per week as a Platinum.

I think a good idea would be to deduct the cost straight off of your bankroll in that machine.

They’ve always charged me beforehand then bring the drinks. Always have to pre-pay there.
