The 4Q had a system outage this morning. The card readers were not showing any earned points or comp dollars. Club said points were accruing though. When I left around 12:30pm, they were shutting down most of the VP machines and the slot club was closed.

Didn't 4 Queens have such an outage prior to the COVID shutdown which messed up their systems for a week or so?

I think most of QQQQ’s computer system(s) went on the fritz early last year (pre-COVID); the machines themselves, the slot club, the reservation system, all affected - allegedly due to ransomware  There’s been a couple slot-club specific issues since then but if they’re shutting VP machines down it may be a bad sign :hmmm:

4Q computer problems were late February/early March 2020. The rumor (on VMB) was ransom ware. After slots/VP turned back on, there were problems with paying with points at restaurants, cashing out points, balances updating on screen, etc. Club said points were accruing, but you couldn't do anything with them. Club was open sporadically. After one session of play there, I played somewhere else the last 3 days during the first week of March 2020 just to be sure; the shutdown hit a few weeks later. I never heard if it was fixed before the shutdown or during. I also would be interested in updates from VMBers in town.

Interested to see if this is related to last year's issues as well. Judging by their website, they do not place technology very high on their list of priorities.

LasVegasAdvisor news item says the weather caused a power outage downtown and 4Q's slots went down early Wednesday a.m. That probably is a better scenario (though not a ringing endorsement of 4Q technology) than another outside attack. Hopefully rebooting (unless their backup was the infected version) gets everything back to normal before VegasSchemer's trip Friday.

Many executive types consider systems to be a black hole into which they continuously throw money, and not a set of tools to help them make money!

When you are at the 4Q Club getting your free play loaded, ask them if they did in fact extend expiration of comp/points to 12-31-21 for people who haven't been back in over a year. I don't think anyone has posted confirmation straight from the horse's mouth yet. I am curious about Binions, too (if you hit that promo as well).

I think it's time for the Four Queens IT department to invest in a power strip with surge protection.

My wife and I were there on Tuesday afternoon when the system went down. We couldn’t get a voucher out of a slot machine. We had to wait over an hour for an attendant to come give us a hand pay. It was a madhouse there with people following slot attendants around trying to get them to come to their machines. I have no idea what caused the problems.

Interesting that you were there Tuesday when the system went down, but Don, DDS, was there Wednesday morning. The storm supposedly was wee hours of Wednesday, so maybe that wasn't the reason. Waiting for attendants to pay off machines was an issue last year when their systems went down. Sounds like any time their system goes down (for whatever reason) the recovery is a nightmare. I hope VegasSchemer is doing daily updates.
