Going to Blackhawk in June and staying at Ameristar. Looks like there are several casinos in near proximity to each other. Can anyone tell me if they are walking distance? Trying to determine if we need to rent a car or just Uber from Denver airport and be able to walk to the other casinos. Car rentals prices seem high right now so if we don't need one we don't want to waste the money. Staying 3 nights and the rental prices are greater than uber to/from the airport.

All of the casinos in Blackhawk are within walking distance. There is a also a free shuttle that circulates between them. I believe there is a shuttle to the casinos in Central City, a mile up the hill as well. If you don't plan to leave Blackhawk, you won't need a car. That said, an Uber is going to cost a fortune. There are buses that travel to Blackhawk from around the Denver metro area. You might want to check into that.

Everything in Blackhawk is in walking distance (although Monarch to say, Saratoga, is a hike), and everything in Central City is within walking distance. But the two are not in walking distance of each other, really.

Keep in mind you are above 8000 feet, and if you are not used to the altitude you might get a little out of breath, especially walking that far.

I have played and stayed at Ameristar, many a times.
It's my go to place. I currently am a Preferred Level Player.

As stated, Black Hawk is sorta like downtown LV, but all along the mountain, and it starts at Monarch (the newest hotel) and goes UPHILL to Saratoga and more.

Shuttles run up the street from BH to Central City (1 mile uphill)

Once you are in Ameristar, you can just cross the street over to The Lodge or Mardi Gras. Then, walk down to Lady Luck, Isle of Capri, and Monarch.
Then take the free shuttle back up the hill!

Here is my first and newest 2021 Royal from 2 weeks ago @ Ameristar:

@MGinCO It sounds like you have some experience with BH. What kind of offers would one expect to get on say $10k/day coin in on VP at the various BH casinos?

You would start getting cash back Free Play , dining offers, and comp rooms at hotel casinos.

10k at one place would be a lot.
At Ameristar, it takes $15 in to get one tier credit.

Great info MGinCO. Thanks! Sounds like we really don't need to pay for a rental car. We are from Chicago and go to the Ameristar in East Chicago, IN and Hollywood in Joliet, IL (both MyChoice) so we were able to get Ameristar Blackhawk comp'd so we thought we'd give it a try. The properties here are nothing special so now that we can travel pretty freely Blackhawk looked fun.

FYI: Monarch has the latest and greatest rooftop pool and spa.
I starting playing there again, in hopes of getting some comped nights, and see what their rooms look like.

Last time at Ameristar (pre Covid) they needed to update the slots. Same ones as always and little change. Visit the Monarch, they have some expensive remodel and updates and should hopefully have a newer variety of slots.
Ameristar is top notch for Blackhawk, you will enjoy your stay.

What's the VP lineup at Monarch? VPFree2 says they have NSUD at quarters up to dollars. Are those machines still there?

Not sure. There is alot of VP machines now on the firrst floor, I saw many demon's and a lot of people playing.
I only look for DDB or TDB.

And as I wasn't walking too well, and machines taken, I did not really get a good look.

MGinCO are there any casinos in particular you recommend other than Ameristar and Momarch?

I like Mardi Gras, been playing there since they opened.
Alot of ppl like The Lodge, right next door.

I got my 1st 2 comped nights, from Monarch, when I got back from LV.
I would like to take them up on it, but I do too many PT sessions in the early am, on my off days.
And I just got moved to 12 hr DAY Shifts, and need to get adjusted to this.

I am going to try a sm day trip to Monarch on Memorial Sunday!
    No masks anymore.

@willowox Regarding transportation between airport and Blackhawk, I recommend checking a couple of car services as this may be same price or cheaper than Uber/Lyft and a nicer set of wheels. We’ve used this service for airport transportation a couple of times, no issues. https://www.twobrotherstransportation.com/

I also highly recommend the steakhouse at Monarch. It is, by far, the best of the steakhouse options IMHO. We also love Lucille Malones at Gilpin. They’re $8.88 fried shrimp special is delightful.

    Enjoy your adventure!

Hi MGinCO, I am going to BlackHawk in July and we are planning on staying at Monarch. Would suggest Monarch or Ameristar? I have never been to Black Hawk before, looking forward to it. We go to Idaho Springs every time we go to Colorado for Beau Jo's.
