    My Trip Report

Had my 2nd vaccine and became (?) fully protected a week prior. Felt more comfortable whether true or not around others and certainly in close proximity without a mask  if others had been vaccinated as well. Nevertheless, it was a good trip. I have no idea how this will go as I am awaiting the same limo 77386A96-CEEF-4BE5-8C3E-10472BDE3979.jpeg (it’s a stretch) at 12:42 pm so I sit in my room to reflect.
I usually go live but @Ty was here at almost the same time and certainly the same days, so it would have been redundant :nono: to post observations simultaneously. I figure if I post something which is repetitive now, you may have already forgotten it was posted earlier.
I mentioned to @Ty about the lack of any recognition (like the lack of recall when I actually mentioned it) of anyone from the board identifying the green bracelets which signify vmb’ers or perhaps a thief who made off with one in the dead of night unknowingly advertising his/her sudden nobility He concurred. Also (a bit late to the party) we agreed face masks with the vmb logo would have been easily spotted in these times of COVID.
Nevertheless (NTL), we ran into 3 (THREE) :headbang: non-members (2 admitted lurkers) this trip alone + a member from (the great state of) Texas @Ty had met previously at the Boars Head Bar. The lurkers were from alameda, California and somewhere in Alaska. Both were familiar with the board and its members. We encouraged both to become active and provide insight from a new perspective. (You know who you are!!).
Another player was from Vancouver and was playing Keno in the “coffee shop” at California. After some conversation and sharing of information about the board he said he would check it out :) and probably join. He had a most interesting story about his assumed screen name but I’ll leave that for him to reveal.
Upon sitting next to this latter acquaintance, we agreed if anyone asked we would claim familial ties  so as to avoid the mandatory spacing. Cousin @Ty and I use this strategy at multiple casinos and so far so good. And as long as both are vaccinated it seems harmless. So far....:vomit:
Hopefully they will come forward in the next few weeks.
Fremont Street——living Large in America. Either more people are dressing in garments that they shouldn’t be adorned in or Americans in general are just larger than I recall in years past , it seems there are increasing numbers of people frequenting the area that apparently don’t know when to push back from the table. :feedme: It could be a result of what’s in the air though as I believe if you stood and just inhaled deeply over and over for 3-5 minutes  you’d find yourself taken from the state of Nevada to an altered state in short order. With which I have no problem in theory but with all the strollers / near nekkedness / buksters / et al.....it soon becomes an out of body experience. NTL, whomever the dolt was that suggested breakdancing be an Olympic sport should be slapped  upside the head. They’re backkkk! And louder than ever.
And there is a table in front of Binion’s with a guy / girl combo that claim they will be able to GUESS your name in 2 minutes  or less. How’s that work? So go! “Does your name begin with a letter in the first 1/2 of the alphabet or 2nd 1/2 of the alphabet?” I said that’s not it....(I thought they were going to guess my name, not ask me for help). Ok we start over. I get it now. They repeat the question and I ask which letter is the middle of the alphabet (so I answer correctly). (also there is no middle letter since 13 are first and 13 are last 1/2). This frustrates the guy as the clock is ticking and I’m asking questions.
It was fun but we agreed his sign needed some clarification.
@Ty and I were going to the D for blackjack and multiple winning hands using matchplay chips from swa flights. (more on that in another section of this ever lengthening report). @Ty is approached by a soon to be famous but not yet discovered :nworthy: artist, and thus has no agent for this trivial duty of advertising / distribution and there is a clear attempt to place the coveted CD in his hand which he seemed to politely but ignorantly refuse  (and probably regret not having the first edition in years to come of this soon to be rising star). We trudge on.
I question why he felt :ssst: it was @Ty who was thought to be appreciative of his music and not me. Did I appear disinterested or simply not the demographic from which his audience is derived? :( @Ty merely shrugged as we entered the D on our quest for a small part ownership in the Circa.
(any food references from this point will have to be cross referenced to @Ty ‘s trip report You’ll notice (no doubt) the quality of each picture and the impeccable lighting provided.......I must admit my iphone light is rather well suited o_O for such a task. We all have our places and apparently it has been recognized as a real talent...by some.
NTL, next up gambling, perusing, caruising, and other exciting topics INCLUDING how @Ty ‘s laser focus almost got us in deep doo-do at the 4 queens :)woot:)

Gambling—-good trip. I’d go chronological but it’s too difficult so we’ll just pretend it IS chronological as far as pictures posted. Also (it has been rumored an IRS type peruses the board for income not reported and I want to state clearly I always declare....”I declare!!”.....that’s me if you hear it in some casino) not all pictures of 4oak’s or straight flushes or the Royal are mine. @Ty needed to put “some coin” in at an undisclosed location and to speed the process we played on his card and I took pictures of my machine at the appropriate times but @Ty said it might be too confusing to stop, lean over and snap so to post in his report.
At first I thought this a convenient dodge of possible winnings being attributed to his bottom line but in hindsight it was his laser focus and further sight from the same hind found that to actually be a positive for both of us.

You don’t get any points for freeplay so I’ll do the bar. AND have an IPA.....mmmm. Ran it through and took the rest to the floor...... it sure what I did to duplicate but only won 1/2 as much as is shown....;)

Went to get some water after check in. Drank two over the course of 5 days just to stay hydrated. Apparently there is less water in beer these days than before.
went to the Circa to check odds and place some bets. They weren’t doing over/unders for NTL unti draft /schedule release. William hill was though. So made a baseball bet. Colorado scores in the bottom of the 9th to snatch victory for my defeat over Philadelphia. How DO they know? 87067B03-C57A-494F-B301-5B0FC293C878.jpeg 5DD0FBC0-5852-4B31-A346-72E2EA2F6BFE.jpeg 53F6367E-B433-4055-AC3D-9E194C70A138.jpeg FD18757D-A37A-4A0B-9D5F-42EDC1782477.jpeg 6F6FA6AE-DC27-440F-B3AB-A59373E4DA7C.jpeg FFE3DB21-C31F-4901-AC1C-00CCA980A2F8.jpeg E7C1F94F-5E72-406F-B3D1-3CAF7BB2DB5F.jpeg 97C89811-D49D-4195-B62E-D0FCAA8494F3.jpeg 6A0F228E-CFF2-4966-89C1-F685EAACC26C.jpeg 43A62896-3B18-4182-8015-52B7C9734457.jpeg
Then played some JoB to warm up the fingers. First day went well

Then to appease the haters I played ddb (and to tease as well) with a little jOb mixed in to throw off the flow.

Tried the escalator photos but I’m no @Ty. Better to stick with the lighting. ;)
Tried it 3x until the security guy sort of looked at me with THE look
on my last attempt but then the last trip had me focused on a suspicious individual with a man-purse at the foot of the moving stairs.....hmmm I thought.....could be the iRs guy purported to be about....:hmmm: 6E460598-6B33-4212-882F-FD2015628DB1.jpeg 94E281D2-C184-4104-92B0-73D3E7F3ED84.jpeg 379C5D76-EDAD-4A22-BE47-621FBCCA701B.jpeg A5169DB3-D17D-4133-88D0-1F4C1291485C.jpeg B1E6E40C-F0AE-4424-A665-A82668E3E8D4.jpeg A6E5689D-DCE8-4E8E-AD37-C9B595F4A7CF.jpeg 72C619A2-5A95-4388-90F7-EE5D779357D4.jpeg 0EAF83C2-9A31-4A88-9307-EF8AC36CA60B.jpeg 456215F8-879A-43D9-83AA-C315E1751467.jpeg

There was a slapper 52C71C04-1CC8-4314-AE4A-30C35E37B977.jpeg in the coffee shop so we went to the D to cash our match play chips with some unconventional strategy. This guy could play that machine like Jerry Lee could pound the ivories. My haul was 350$ in and 625$ out 88422F69-CEF6-47DA-9858-1F6A84BBB833.jpeg with 0 pushes, double downs, or splits.
Had 14 chips but @Ty had doubled earlier and ran out while I had one chip left so I slid a match play his way so he was still “in action”.
It was profitable. :) And so Sunday was much better than Saturday. :blowkiss:

Finally, it wasn’t a winning trip but could be depending on the future bets on the over under of NFL season totals. We’ll see. I hear from home one of the children has grown severely depressed in my absence. Hopefully I don’t return too late. But you know kids. They rebound quickly.

the wife made a cake for the host and a piece for me and the @Ty. we split a single piece (a guys gotta watch his weight) and planned on Lappert’s ice cream to douse the 2nd but never got around to it. Sinful and more than most.

Will tell the tale of woe later as to the almost con job while playing high dollar slots with @Ty. It’s kinda funny but kinda sad too. So beware and ALWAYS know your surroundings!!

I think I make that exact cake for hubby’s bday every year, it’s his favorite.

    Looks like another great trip!

    A few summary thoughts.....
It was good to finally have someone say “Hey, do those green wristbands have anything to do with the vmb ?” It’s been a long time and was quite satisfying.
Also made the acquaintance with a barback that works the sports bar in the mornings at the California. They don’t have real cream :wink2:available in the Market Street Cafe and I can’t drink coffee :nono: without it.
At the BHB, Oleg would fix me up :headbang:with a mixture of cream and Bailey’s to take into the buffet or when heading down the street to the EAT near :feedme: the container park.
I miss BHB more :cry:and more. But NTL, I would go in with the Silver card each morning and utilize it for acquiring a shot of Bailey’s :)prior to having breakfast.
The first day was “normal” as in here you go sir; sign here please.
The next day, same guy who also had a Haitian or Jamaican accent of some sort, and he asked if I was related to that Eddie Murphy guy.......all the while grinning and saying how funny :kill: he thought he was.
I winked and said I thought not but i WAS related to Archie Griffin
    (google him kids)
and he sorta chuckled and gave me my Bailey’s and off we went.
Well he must of asked the bartender who Archie was because Sunday he said, you funny too. o_O
I told him I really didn’t even know anyone from Ohio or at least not intimately, and I noticed his hand had become more heavy. By Monday, I was getting at least a double shot of Bailey’s  with a wink and a grin.
@Ty’s a pretty good guy to be around on a trip to Vegas and especially at the California. He has the shift and break times of every California waitress down somewhere in that brain of his and that helps a lot. And they know him. So it’s fun. And he’s generous :nworthy: with his time, knowledge, insight, and comps (when possible).
However, implementing the test of gullibility was fun to pass the time although it was somewhat at his expense. :bang:
The waitresses, (I guess like those in any casino, club, bar) can be quick and fast or slow and chatty. Not sure what it depends on but if engaged in conversation they usually had 2-4 minutes to chat at best. Plenty of time for the test. :lock:
Initially, one of the waitresses had said something to the effect “I just thought you were some ‘rich’ guy that came to vegas a lot” or something to that effect.
@Ty played it off and we laughed. So the next day was slow at some point and I was able to ask the same waitress if she was a lover of chicken. White meat, dark; wings or thighs? Oh yes. I do  like chicken.......well, you don’t know who this is do you? tilting my head toward @Ty. Glances go back and forth and she says, yeah, :ssst: no, what?
I said something to the effect, his dad set up the family business at a late stage of his life and knew he wasn’t going to see it through and decided his youngest son :D was ripe to take the reins after he was gone.
He grew the best chickens in Georgia, @Ty was his son; you following me here? You like chicken......he can set you up for a month with the coupons he carries. So head and eyes go back and forth between me and @Ty wondering what’s up, but inevitably they ask, :hmmm: “Is that really you ??”
And @Ty is too nice a guy to say no so I add, ask him for a coupon; he’s got a whole bunch. This type of conversation went on for a shift or two and usually before too much alcohol had been consumed.
I had told @Ty we (5 friends and their wives) would get together at home each year and cook on the grill and drink and have a whiskey tasting event (take a sip of 6 unlabeled whiskeys) and choose your favorite and have a double :drunk: in a glass to enjoy.
Also we played pasture golf. You cut out (mow) an area low for a tee box and another area (a bit larger) for a green. All about 85-125 yards in distance. You get two balls, and two :trophy: prize :trophy:categories; one for closest upon landing and one for closest upon coming to rest (after hitting rocks, stumps, or wayward wives).
    It is fun but only if you like golf, bar-b-cue, :cowboy: and whiskey. 4 like 100% of that, and 2 of us only like 66.6%. Anyway;
So after two or three waitresses don’t know what to think (is this guy really the heir to Tyson’s chicken), @Ty is beginning to cut into the conversation with THIS guy owns a golf course!!! It doesn't deflect the focus. We’re talking to waitresses and not to categorize but they are much more interested in chicken than golf.......so I got off lucky.
That’s about it for trivia. Going to get a cup of coffee and tell the tale of the turkey buzzards circling at the 4Q’s as their prey lay helpless. Or so it appeared

AND, apparently all is right with the world :snore: once again 73BB5A9E-DEC6-4A86-97F2-9BA511E3D3AB.jpeg

(a very small world in this case). :poke:

Ok. @Ty wants to put some $’s in during his stay this trip at the 4queens casino for future trip offers etc. It could take awhile as a solo so he needed help to complete the task in only half the time. AND their was the dangle of dinner :feedme: at Pizza Rock happy hour to those providing assistance.
Pick me!!! :lock: Pick me!! :lock: I shouted as he mulled his options.
Fortunately Pickens were slim and I got a test run for a possible part-time gig.:headbang: U-4-E-A.....
We head over to the 4 queens mid morning and proceed to scout out the 6/9 machines near the casino cage. Only 25 centers available. o_O
Good god we’d need an army. :(
@Tarpie had told us about some machines (also 6/9 but without the advertising) near the fishing game (that is almost as big as the back wall). BUT it’s off the beaten path, back in the boonies.
I have no clue. I follow @Ty past the entrance to the men’s room on our right and past King’s bar on our left and suddenly see what appears to be the entire Pacific Ocean on the wall.
The only machines open are those with the wall of water behind us. We commence but the glare is  distracting. We scope out the couple on the next row, facing us but on machines without the glare as we play; hoping for a departure so we can swoop down on their machines and escape the ocean’s  glare. The fishing game is actually exciting to witness as the players yell :wiggle: at the fishies and applaud :faint: when landing “the big one” and harkens back to what attracted me to signa derby the first time.....drunks (or soon to be) having fun. (Sigma was closed this trip by the way). :(
So we play awhile, merrily racking up points and about 20 minutes into it the couple had had enough (or maybe not  and had gone back to the room(?)) and vacated. We cashed out and spun around our respective corners to play. Only the end machines were capable of multi-denomination with the middle two being quarters only.
We had jockeyed seats around to sit side by side (as cousins are :D want to do) and left one orphaned between us (but closer to my ‘cousin’than me).
Play play play. Win win win. This is fun but I am paranoid in helping out here  I could wreck the bank account and not be hired for the full-time temporary gig if I go bankrupt.
However, I am seemingly unconscious as I glide through hand after hand  and move from 500-600-700-750$ on my machine.
It’s like the first time you “get it” and the clutch and accelerator are working smoothly on the motorcycle and instead of stalling out, you’re aimlessly tooling down the :biker: highway.....just without the girl on the back squeezing .:woohoo:......well anyway.
Then the first of several curious observations were made. One, then two guys came walking about, looking at the machines, pushing the play buttons or cash out buttons or something and moving on but with eyes darting about as they travel throughout the area.
And not just once :nono: around the block, but circling the same machines to my left then past the fishing game and to @Ty ‘s right and behind us somewhere.
Cocktails came around every 7-10 minutes or so but otherwise it was just people gawking at all the ginormous screens and the Flintstones / Willie Wonka type games; sit and play and get up and go. :p
But the circling begins again and this time a third “gentleman” has joined the party. @Ty was laser focused (he said later) and playing more like Mickey Gilley on this buttons than the guy we had seen in the coffee
    shop. :bang:
We were both doing quite well but you could almost feel the eyes on the prize. So to speak.
Reminded me of the old 20 mule team Borax western hosted by Ronald Reagan back in the black and white days which was usually about some pioneer family being stranded on the desert heading to the promised land of California if they could just get over that next ridge. :(
But then (just before the commercial) someone got a rattlesnake bite or broke a bone greasing an axle and was laid up :goofy: while help was summoned.
And inevitably the buzzards circled their prey waiting for the opportunity to feast at the expense of the poor helpless sodbuster.
So, the circling grew smaller in circumference and my machine showed over 800$ in what now appeared to be HUGE numbers in the corner of the screen.
My spidey sense was tingling (and I hate spiders) but I figured I’d just wait it out and kept looking over periodically to @Ty for eye :rolleyes2:contact. But it wasn’t going to be. He was (in his words) laser focused.
So after about 5-8 minutes of the circling and occasionally sitting a putting a tito stub into a machine (actually it was the first time I’d ever visibly observed someone place an 8 cent credit into a machine but he did, played one spin and cashed out.....this was my buzzard buddy  at 10 o’clock or so).
When trying to break the laser focus of @Ty I noticed someone (buzzard 2 (behind him about 12-14 feet) just sort of hanging out and I couldn’t actually figure his intent as I kept looking back at #1 and my machine credits which now appeared to be SCREAMING 900+.
Well the the game began. A tall lanky guy came and sat down in the chair between us. :hmmm: Everyone else just sorta hung out, looking at their nails or shoes or off in space but never any eye contact was made when attempted.
The tall guy says “How ya doing?” to @Ty and I didn’t hear his response. The guy was smoking a cigarette that had the odor of a hand roll composed of multiple butts  (if you know what I mean) (godawful is what I mean) where you field strip the tobacco from discarded cigarettes and make your own when enough has been accumulated.
    Rank is a good descriptor.
“You having any luck “ he asks again facing @Ty now. I am trying to eyeball #1 and watch this guy at the same time while #3 is out of my scope. “Just go started a minute ago” or something @Ty replied.
“You look like you’re doing ok” which was a weird thing to say as you have to look at someone’s total to make a judgement like that which is another clue this isn’t going to go well.
“When did you get your last Royal?” he asks @Ty the banter is now becoming bizarre :bang: for conversation. This guy is not digging for $’s to put in the machine or anything. Just smoking that smelly cigarette and talking. :pirate:
I get a tap on my left arm and a “Hey man” but I ignored and now am focused on my game and my buttons....especially the “cash out” button.
“I think you dropped that” he says and I ignore.
The guy between me and @Ty says, “Dude, I think you dropped that” and I said “Not me” without looking away from the screen. (these guys were very unpolished; I had on jeans and hadn’t gotten up for 25-30 minutes or so which made it highly unlikely I dropped anything)
Where’s the frickin’ cocktail waitress? ???
Just about then the guy between us sits up a little straighter like when the teacher walks in and you weren’t doing whatever it was you were supposed to be doing and looks about.
I hear a voice and a lady in blue walks to my left and has two 20’s in her hand. “Are these yours “ she asks as she waves them toward me.
    # 1 is easing away from the scene as the bad tough guy does when he’s at the Longbranch saloon and Marshall Dillon begins to massage the butt of his pistol and looks his way.
Oh, no ma’am. Not mine. She holds them so the light of my machine is behind them. She didn’t notice the 999+ credits had almost taken over the whole screen beckoning SOMEONE to take me!!!
She said “I think these are fake” and turns to walk away. #3 says “Those are mine” and -#2 says “Those are his lady”
She was having none of it and proceeded back out of the cave towards her supervisor or security.
Suddenly the skies cleared and buzzards flew no more.
We figured -#1 was going for the cash out button, while #2-3 would run interference if we tried to intercede. Their defense would be they are just uncoordinated bumblers and didn’t know which way to go and we got in the way and that guy stole the money and we don’t know him either. And we are sorry.
It was an eye opener. I recall back in the day with buckets of money you could distract (ask for a light or the time) and when the person turned away preoccupied the second person stole the change cup.
It could of gone badly but these guys weren’t real polished. They could’ve waited til I went to the bathroom (which was not infrequent) and returned to say I had dropped something. Or have one guy (not two or three) scope out potential victims. Whatever.
My concern is now I’ve got to talk to my wife and alert her to what went on and to be more careful which will inevitably lead to me having to have her surgically removed  at some point of our next trip.
Finally, these guys were obvious in behavior, dress, they way they “paraded” about and that stinky cigarette smell as to not being from New Jersey on a three day junket.
I’m not sure what cameras security was monitoring but it was pretty obvious the play calling was not good.
It wasn’t long after that we accomplished our task and went about our business elsewhere.
But a word to the wise......pay attention to your surroundings (it sounds corny but seriously) when in vegas. It can be anywhere but for us it was at the 4 Queens. By no means is it isolated only to that property either. :ssst:

Well I thought I was through but showed the wife all the photos etc from the trip and she said wait....blow that one up. So we looked closer and she spotted the bag on the guys leg as I was going down the escalator and told me about it.
After retrieving a catalog from the trash she showed me the offer from Brighton’s and their willingness to have a sales rep visit your location with samples. THIS 31875149-3282-417E-BF0E-FF3C1B740A4C.jpeg was the monogrammed shoulder bag the salesman would be toting all the “fine wares” within.
Obviously he knew @Ty ‘s route each morning on the escalator and was laying in wait....hmmm....:poke:

Also a good example of why to avoid having too much sitting in a machine. I've seen some playing with thousands  in a machine. I guess I could see if they were in high limit.

Forgive me but I kinda got derailed with the woman waving the twenties. Was she an employee and why would #3 say they were his if they were fake? These guys were definitely up to no good. Glad nothing bad happened. I'm sure your spidey sense was triggered with these guys.
