What are the usual table limits for Bac in Talon, and how friendly would you think the dealers would be for a newbie just looking to play a few hands for the experience?

Considering playing 4 or 5 hands on a empty table this trip just for shits and giggles. Obviously would only do this at an empty table during a slower time. I know I can do whatever I feel like, but it won’t be as fun if they’re giving me side eye.

Also, just realized the HL bar has $5 full pay according to VPfree. I usually play the machine in HL slots when I’m feeling spicy, but I might give that a try on the next trip since I’m planning on more $5 play. I’ve never considered the bar because I’ve never walked through HL, plus if I bust through my usual $500 buy-in in a flash I don’t have someone watching me slink away in shame in HL slots (other than the occasional host/attendant).

Finally got up, hit the gym, showered, and placed more nba bets. Two infers, one over, and laying the Suns. Going to play a few hands and then walk around. Casino is pretty quiet now

Talon room is usually $500 but I have seen $300 midweek. Give it a shot. The dealers there are very friendly and helpful. Go I. The morning and you will have the room to yourself

And yes, the tables high limit has full pay VP. It’s where I played Thursday night. Also great staff at that bar

Thanks! $300 would be perfect, as I could stomach 5 straight losses for $1500 much easier than I could $2500. Probably see how the rest of the gambling goes for a few days then give it a shot if the bankroll is in decent shape. We’ve walked through in the morning a few times, but never really lingered too long. Seems we’ve missed out on some interesting art.

Good to hear the staff at the HL bar is cool. Since there are usually a decent amount of people in HL most of the time I’ve never really walked around to check things out in there.

Good luck with the rest of your play. Looking forward to the Zuma report.

While we are on the subject I am one of those guys who never varies from basic strategy. The other night I am in the HL room at the Hard Rock in Tampa. I am in first base and my wife is in second base, the guy at the end has 15K out. The dealer is showing a ten. I hit a soft 18 vs the ten and draw an ace for a soft 19. My wife hits a hard 15 and draws a 6 for a 21. The guy at the end stays on a 16. The dealer flips over a hard 16 and then draws a 7 for a 23. The next hand the 15k guys stays on a hard 15 and he saves the table.

I find it interesting that if the table allows surrender nobody has a problem with people not hitting hard 15 and 16 against a ten value card when they surrender. For that matter when you surrender a pair of eights against a ten value rather than split.

I call it selective memory. You remember when you lose because of bad play but not when you win. I must say I get a lot of raised eyebrows when I double my soft 18 or hit it when it is appropriate.

    Great report, keep on winning.

I am in the Talon room now and I am the only gambler here. You should have no problem with an empty room if you come by some morning

Quick update. Got out of control and lost 10k in the high limit. I pulled out a 25k chip to keep playing when I realized I had forgotten to ask for a nonsmoking table. So I asked and the supervisor refused! WTF! So I immediately grabbed my chip and went to Talon room. Guess what, they gave me a nonsmoking table lol.

First shoe I won back my 10k. Shuffling now for the next shoe. Going to play a few more hands and then head downstairs to look for @TIMSPEED

So I finished up 10k in the Talon room which made up for the high limit loss. Then hurried downstairs to the slot high limit before my lunch reservation. Didn’t see @TIMSPEED but I may have missed you as I rushed through. Now waiting for my table at Henry. The host said it’s a two hour wait for those without reservations. Yikes! It is a lot busier than this morning

Lunch was basically the same as yesterday, but better quality at Henry than Overlook

After lunch, I wanted some fresh air. Still too cold to enjoy the pool so I decided to walk. I headed over to Linq hoping to find the item I am shopping for. No luck on that front. Linq was packed! So we’re most of the sidewalks. I will be very curious what the Vegas stats are for this month. Anywho, pics from the walk

Fashion question for you. I don't pay attention to the old rule of "no white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day" but I'm curious, are folk dressed in heavy duty summer clothing or are they still covered up? Just curious as to your overall impressions.

Per weather.com it will be 80s and some 90s when I'm there but as I'm trying to further cut down on my packing I'm debating whether I should take out some of the white linen pieces packed as it may look to "summery", even in early May though it will be (for me), hot.

I would say I am mostly seeing spring clothing. Its in the seventies today, but the desert wind is making it feel a lot colder than that. I walked to Linq and back in t-shirt and shorts and was entirely comfortable. Not cold nor sweaty. Probably because I was moving. But now I am sitting on my shady balcony and shivering!

I think this temp is about ten degrees below average for this time of year. Supposed to be back up to 90 by next weekend

So after my stroll down LVB, I walked back in Cosmo and decided to play a little more. Went back to Talon room and started a fresh bac shoe. It started poorly, lol. Seven if the first eight hands were player. Not great for me. So I sent most of the shoe battling back from that early hole. By the en, there were a couple good bank runs and bank eventually ended up with more wins than player. After paying the commission and tipping the dealer, I was up another $2800.

Now, I am back in the rom taking a break. I am considering canceling my Zuma reservation. Lunch was so filling I am not sure I have another big meal in me. Besdies, if I do, I can spend my comps on ore milkbar to take home. Going to wait an hour or two and then decide. But for now, its time to rest

A couple other random observations from the Strip:

*Last night and today I saw a lot fewer costumed characters for photo ops but a ton more ladies in the showgirl outfits. The most I have ever seen. Not sure why they have taken over the Strip but they have.

*The religious fanatics are out wth their bullhorn in front of the grand bazar shops telling me how I am going to hell. Thanks for the update guys. I am back in my room on the balcony and I can still hear them a little. That's one powerful bullhorn lol

*Maybe I need to look at investing in gaming stocks again. I am not in any presently and have not monitored them recently. Maybe I will do some research at home. Because it seems like weekend in vegas are back. Thursday night was slow, but the weekend has seen crowds near the pre-pandemic levels. No idea what kind of money people are spending, but I assume a lot of them are like me insofar as if you kept your job for the past year, you're probably sitting on a lot of money you couldn't spend going out for the past year. Just a thought
