@JL125 I go in streaks... Lately it’s been pass line betting but I’m going to hit the don’ts in a couple days. But lately, it’s always hot on the opposite of what I bet so we’ll see!

In my past trips to Vegas I only bet the Pass Line. I noticed that the PSO shooters were way more common than the 30 minute heater shooters but I did not understand the Don't Pass/Don't Come side. With all the action going on in the game, I did not want to ask the dealers for help in learning it. This Reno trip I am going to take the time to learn it even if I have to play at a table by myself.

I had a practice session last night on a little table a friend loaned me. My son and a friend of mine were playing the Pass Line and I was playing the Don't and dealing as good as I could. After 20 to 30 minutes I was up about half my buy in. They were down about a quarter of their buy in. I did get hammered on a few comeout rolls when a seven was rolled 5 times in a row. After my 3rd time losing I told myself " Hey dipshit, quit betting on the Don't Pass line. Just bet the don't come after the point is set." My observation is that the Don't is pretty easy once you live through the Come Out roll. I was basically playing a Don't 3 point Molly with full odds. I did get a few poibts knocked off but you don't get wiped out all at once like a 7 can do to you on the Pass Line side.

I understand if a gamblers fallacy makes you feel like its easier to win on the DC after a point has been established, but the chances a seven is rolled on your DC come out is exactly the same as a seven being rolled on the shooter's come out roll. It really makes no difference.

For any betting system, there is a roll or sequence of rolls which will render a loss else the casinos would not be around. This applies to all casino games.

If you’re looking for a way to play and maintain a good portion of your bankroll, you can always play the DP and then place bet the point. I’d say play a (minimum as I don’t know your normal play level) $12 DP and place the point for 2 units as well ($10 4/5/9/10 or $12 6/8) and just roll the dice. Barring a come out 7 or 11, you are going to either break even or make a few bucks.

If you want to throw a few dollars on a come out “any 7s” then you can transfer the the bad number to 11 and the bar 12. This will drain your bankroll faster, but can allow you table time for awhile. If you’re playing this way and seeking any comps - don’t expect it!

I think there's like an 0.05% difference, overall. At least for me, that's barely even a rounding error. If you're truly interested in maximizing your bet down to the penny, then I suppose it works, but this is meant to be for entertainment, not profit (though profit is always nice!). I never want to be the only Don't Pass better at a table playing the line.

For low-rolling craps in Reno, last time I was there (~6 years ago) the Western Village in Sparks had a $1 craps table. Things may have changed since then, but if there is still a $1 or $2 table, you can pile on all kinds of bets without worrying about quickly running out of money.

I don't disagree. Perhaps I misunderstood the OP. I thought he was suggesting that he was more likely to win his line bet on a DC than a DP. Rolling a seven, though, is just as likely on any roll, regardless of whether a pass line point has been established or not

I was over thinking things on that string of 7s on the come out roll. I just kept betting the DP line and losing and thought I could always skip the DP line on the come out and put $5 on the DC after the point. Keep in mind that this was my very 1st attempt at the Darkside. Lots of stuff running through my head. I have watched a few guys that have posted live rolls on the web have a similar run of losing come out rolls while playing the Don't Pass line. They kept betting as I did and eventually, a point was set and the game went on. What I did learn is that my initial buy in may need to be a little bigger than my usually initial investment. On a $5 table playing the Pass Line with full odds I normally buy in for $100 and play on that until I have to go meet my wife somewhere or until it is gone. My last few sessions have gone pretty well. Just want to learn the Don't Side so I have that in my tool box for when a table goes cold. Thanks to all for the information and advise.

I have seen a few guys playing the DP line pick up their bet if the point is 6 or 8 and then place one or both. They went to the DC box with their next bet and, depending on the number either picked it up or let it travel to the point number. So many options!!! That is why I love this game so much.

    Never understood that.

Guys play the Don't with one big hurdle: surviving the comeout or getting that DC to travel. Then when they clear that hurdle they get cold feet and bail.

The more I study the Don't side I don't totally understand why players pull their bets or don't let them travel to the 6 and 8. A huge benefit in my mind is that you can only lose 1 bet at a time, not get wiped totally out like a 7 on the Pass side and you can will all your bets in a single roll if a 7 vomes aftrt the point. I guess if it was a bankroll management issue, maybe only put 1 or 2x odds behind them? Not sure how fun a game would be if you only bet against the 4 and 10 on the Don't side. Do any of you guys lay aginst the 4 and 10 and stay off the Don't Pass/Don't Come?

I’ve done it, but like you said, it’s not a whole lot of fun. Especially when you’re not winning on any other rolls and a few 4s and 10s are rolled in a short window. I don’t mind laying the 4 & 10 but I want another bet or two to provide a hedge, so to speak.

Right!! I think for starters I will play the Don't with 2 maybe 3 points with odds. My bankroll will dictate how hard I go at it and I will give a full report of my craps adventure and what I learn about the darkside. Thanks again everyone.

I love being the only one, especially when I'm winning.

I've had some success playing the Don't at an empty table by myself. It is the only time you can get the dice back on a win playing the Don't, and there is no one to piss off when you try your hardest to roll a seven after you set a point! Once some other players join I go back to the pass line.
