Yes, the definition of a beatdown and the associated impact is all relative to your circumstances and bankroll. Roughly 3-4 years ago I lost $2K playing $50 blackjack. My trip bankroll was something like $2,700 for a 3 night stay. This was no more than 3 hours after landing from a morning flight, so I was fairly frustrated but it served as a good lesson about bankroll management.

Reminds me of the late 90s, when I had won about $50 in each of several dealers choice games and thought I was Mr. Poker. Went over to another co-workers house playing with folks I didn't know and a lot of the games were "match the pot" types. I wound up losing about $400, but remember the session lasted pretty much all night.....and also remember it was probably the worst I ever felt about a gambling loss.

As far as casino gambling, 1999 was probably the year I had the most casino travel, as I went to Vegas four times, my usual at the time numerous trips to AC, and separate trips to Biloxi and Tunica. Tunica was a two-night trip and I wound up being down close to $600 after the first night. It just felt bad because, aside from the casinos, there was absolutely nothing else to do in Tunica itself. Wound up spending one whole day in Memphis visiting Graceland.

In Vegas, I had a lot of fun during a long weekend in late 2001, as I saw a couple shows and had some nice dinners. My gambling consisted of playing $1-3 craps tables at the locals places, covering three numbers with pass/come bets backed up by $10 in odds.....and over three days wound up being down $900. I clawed back $300 of it the last night to finish down $600 for the trip.

For single sessions, a couple of instances at the Golden Gate (pre-Stevens) come to mind. The Las Vegas Advisor had a coupon where you could play blackjack and for an hour your blackjacks would pay 2-1. I think I tried to use the coupon twice in separate years and both times I didn't last 15 minutes at the table, as the dealers kept on drawing 21s at the single-deck table.

I forget the amount but it felt like a lot at the time. I was just out of college at the time so it probably wasn’t much, but had a multi game college football parley. Probably 5-6 games, maybe 7. They all hit and I was waiting on the last game. Auburn-Alabama. I bet on Alabama. It was a tied game 28-28 with 1 second left. Alabama was set to kick the game winning field goal or go to overtime. Well, they missed and Auburn caught the ball and returned for 109 yard touchdown.

I did almost the same thing on my first trip to Vegas and second time in a casino.
Martingale red on Roulette at Harrah's. Low gambling budget back then.
    $25 ,$50, $100 ,$200, $400 ,$800 I threw in the towel.
    You know what happened then.

$500 Promo chips at Bellagio, bet $500 on hand of blackjack, dealt 11 vs dealer 6, doubled down and got the 10, dealer drew to a 6 or 7 card 21.

Dang, sorry buddy. The dealer getting a 6 or 7 card 21 really sucks.

Not a big loss, all things considered, but I'll never forget it.

Back in my card counting days in the early 1980s, I was playing two hands of blackjack with $10-$20 per hand and lost both hands 11 times in a row. I switched tables and then lost both hands 6 times in a row. I quit! It was a busy night, the tables were hopping, and the dealers were on fire.

The equivalent play for me was the 'Minneapolis Miracle'. I watched the end on a tv inside the Golden Gate casino and my jaw hit the floor on that damn play. The swing in money won/lost wasn't too much but it still stings.

what an ending that was. I was in the spa at Caesars having just finished a massage. The entire place including staff was watching the game. That’s the loudest I’ve ever heard a spa by a long shot lol.

This is nowhere near the dollar level of most of these, but I bought in for $200 at a $5 table at the Plaza, playing $10/hand. I lost the first 15 hands in a row, pushed one, and lost 5 more in a row. I lost 20 times in 21 hands playing perfect basic strategy.

I think I lost around $500 on the last few hours of my first trip to Vegas, which led me to go full tilt. Sad part was I was up before that. Luckily, I try to gamble with only money I get from credit card rewards.

Not a lot in terms of dollars but, 13 BJ hands in a row just a couple years ago playing reds. I thought about where I would have been on Martingale

I took a ticket of about $250 and started playing 10 play DSTP for quarters. Went on a great run and worked it up to about $900. Things went south, I kept thinking I'm only in for $250. I ended up smoking that $900 in what seemed like 20 minutes, just a brutal run. I stood up and thought, did I really just do that?

Not that long ago - at the Plaza - I lost 12 hands in a row... but more significant is how those hands were lost:
All of them involved my hitting 12 versus a dealer 7, 8, 9 or 10, and my drawing ten & busting with 22. All of them.
After around the 7th such loss, I commented to the dealer about it, who mentioned it to the pit-critter - who ended up watching in amazement as it happened 5 more times!
Fortunately, I was not 'Martingaling' & I only lost $100.

Similar to others here, I had a bad run at blackjack once. I lost 17 out of 19 hands and pushed on 1 and won one.

The worst part was that it happened right when I sat down for the first gamble of the night (for the entire day actually). I got frustrated half way through this run, started to try martingale and managed to blow through my entire day's bankroll in exactly 19 hands.

Third trip in 2010, visited the Flamingo for an evening of fun on my late dad's birthday (he passed in 1998, but Flamingo was his favorite place). After a simply awful dinner at the Parasite Garden Buffet, I sat down at the only 3:2 blackjack table in the casino. Ironically enough, it was the only empty table. $15, 8-deck shoe. I proceeded to lose $315 in 15 minutes!

Every time I watch Vegas Vacation, I am reminded of this session.

My budget is typically $500-$1000 a day and this last time (July 2019) it was $1000 a day due to some bankroll increases from a previous gambling trip. I was there from Friday to the following Sunday so about $10k all up.

I left with $200. No hand pays on any slot or video poker. No big bonus on any carnival game. Probably sevened out after 3 rolls every single time. It was the most brutal trip I’ve ever had anywhere.
Did I mention this was also during a conference I was speaking at? So it’s not like I had super long sessions either.

Best session was probably the hour long 1 on 1 with my manager playing $50 hands of BJ. I won $600 and he lost his shorts. Other than that it was just absolutely disgusting

Can’t wait to go back though and this time with a bigger budget since I have been saving due to 2020 haha :D:cool:

We're Titans fans. VY showed us that he can deliver some of the most exciting football GAMES you'll ever seen en route to delivering some of the lousiest SEASONS you can experience.

2018. Horseshoe Southern Indiana. They had a promo for a hot oil fryer once you'd hit 200 RCs and that was my excuse to go. Hit the craps table w/a $500 buy-in. First shooter is a lady who made 5 of 6 fire bet points and 7 points overall. Just insane. I was up $750 in less than an hour but still far shy of my 200 RCs for that damn fryer. I kept playing and ended up losing $1500. Got my 200 RCs and they were out of the fryer, so I lost that, too.

Could have left after her hand and bought the damn thing for $30 at Walmart on the way home.
