You got that right. I had a pair of JBL L26 speakers that just rocked. My current vintage Bose speakers are pretty good. Except I can only listen at proper volume when my DW is out of the house. She hates loud music for some reason. Nothing like Aqualung on a proper system.

your wife and my wife must be related! Still proudly blasting the Boston Acoustics A-200's I bought back in 1981, had to refoam the woofers a couple of times though. AS one of the earlier rush album liner notes says "for best results, play at maximum volume"....

Are they the ones with the oak veneer on the outside? I think I have the same ones. In 1977, I bought a Harmon Kardon amp, an Onkyo tape deck, a Phillips Turntable, and those JBL Speakers for about $1200.

    I did not know that!

Just on a side note, my parents kept a bottle of Mogen David at the back of the fridge. The SAME bottle was there for at least 15+ years. As an older teen or maybe young 20's, I finally took it out of the fridge one day and there was quite a bit of sediment at the bottom. We ended up dumping it down the sink. My parents were not drinkers.

I have the JBL's = Been in the original boxes for decades cos I have no room to set everything up.
I sold my old vinyl records last year - and the music store owner
started drooling when I told him I had......JBL Control Monitors 4401's ......still in original box !
    Yes....retro / vintage Audio equipment has become " hip " again........highly prized.
I live in a " artsy " small city and alot of the musicians play w/ vintage instruments and amps.
    .
" Chuckles ".......jellied colored candies......are they still around ?
    I loved those things

Ha. Last time I had to buy them was 2 Februaries ago during the freak blizzard in Las Vegas. Amazingly they were sold at the Walmart at Arroyo Crossing. It was a good thing because I had to drive to Phoenix and plowed through 6 inches of snow in the back streets of Kingman when traffic stopped on US 93. That trip report is lying around here somewhere.

They are pretty much a requirement if you visit snow once a year. Now that we are in Utah people tell us we should get winter tires.

When I was a teenager I bought hot dogs at the AM/PM. 2 for 99 cents. Which got me exactly where I am today.

This was before they had a kitchen or rollers; they kept them in a steamer, similar to a crock pot .

This thread inspired me. From reading the stories of Frank McCourt the writer of Angela’s Ashes. He wrote a follow up book about when he first came to America and eating delicious Liverwurst sandwiches on German rye with onion.

Brake rotors. I was blown away by how cheap they are these days. Chinese of course, but otherwise decent quality. Back in the day, you used to get them turned for another set of pads, if there was enough metal on them. Now it seems cheaper to just buy new replacement rotors. Odd.

I left two gorgeous surround systems at our old house because the buyer insisted. One upstairs, one down. Nothing close here at our new house. Envious of everyone who still has the big magnets.

Ah, Frank McCourt. I got to go out drinking with him once. Okay. A couple of drinks. After retiring from my librarian life, I sold books and media to libraries. I got the boss to hire Frank McCourt as a keynote speaker at a joint state conference. That was a highlight, I'll tell you.

Yep, I'm serious. My wife is a little bit of a hoarder and today found an unopen vcr head cleaner cassette and a 4 pack of vcr tapes. Along with remotes and manuals for equipment/tvs we haven't own in over 15 years, but ironically she can't find the manual to the vcr/dvd player that we still have.
