I know I decently miss live poker.

I live in NJ and the closest live poker is in Maryland 120 miles away. That doesn’t seem that far but when you are used to decent poker games as close as 20 minutes away it’s far enough.

Haven’t played live since about 3/1. Yes you can play online and I have a little but it’s not the same.

    Things I miss.
-Sitting at a table with a bunch of random people trying to get each other’s money.
-stressing because you are card dead
-relaxing and enjoying the night because the cards are in your favor.
-the end of a long session when someone with more money then skills sits at your table.
-I miss the small talk with strangers
-the long stares in a big show down
    - always having a few extra bucks in the budget. No I’m not some future pro but playing poker is like having a crapping part time job
    - long hours at a lively table
    - getting to witness the loud guy lose all of his chips to the quiet guy
    - hell I even miss the crappy nights that happen once in a while

Some day live poker will be back for all of us.

When I hear 8-handed / 9-handed games are back, it gets me champing at the bit.

I've not played since December in Vegas.

Have splashed about online a bit over the last few months, but won't play live again until Vegas in December (hopefully)

Think the best thing to come out of all his, is we'll never have to play 10-handed again :D

I don't play but I do like walking past and seeing people play.

If this is what you miss, your neighborhood convenience store is hiring for the graveyard shift.

Most would say I don't play, either. I just sit down and chuck my money around :p

Bigtime. Hadn''t done online before the pandemic and it's a lot of fun at times, but nowhere near the same.

Someone who normally hosts a poker party invited me to an online poker party this year. I was excited to participate but I realized my computer, which is owned by my employer, has a nanny filter that prevents me from going to poker websites. So I had to play from my phone and everything was so small I could barely see what was going on. This is mostly but not completely an excuse to say that I was the first person to exit the tournament. I like poker but not enough to make it worthwhile to play online again or through plexiglas. I'll have to be content with reading about the exploits of others.

I am not a poker player by any definition but I enjoyed the Orleans poker room. Big enough to have enough tables open with interest. So not a long wait.
palms was fun in the daytime...before 2 pm. Lots of locals / blue hairs. 2/4 limit was big on our trips back then. No real drama. Everyone was dressed appropriately.

Well I did it. I drove the 130 miles down to Maryland Live Sunday to play.

Played a total of 11 hours Sunday ended up down $120 for the day. I stayed over night in the Hampton Inn on the other side of the mall. Played another 5 hours Monday before driving home. Finished Monday up $460 for the day. Overall was happy with my play other then one bad hand that I let myself get roped into with pocket QQs in the first hour Sunday.

I liked the poker room atmosphere as it was my first time at Maryland Live. It was your typical mix of regs mostly. Old men playing nitty, some aspiring future sharks and a bunch of regular joes. I only played $1-3 but they had a nice mix of games going if you were interested in playing $2-5, a few different limit games and they had multiple daily tournaments running. Drink service was available but slow. I didn’t drink any alcohol so I wasn’t as bothered as some people seemed to be with the cocktail waitresses.

All tables were set up 7 handed with plexiglass. After a player left a staff member would wipe down the entire chair and rail area with sanitizing wipes before the next person was allowed to sit. Hand sanitizer and wipes were readily available in the entire casino. Mask usage was 100% and being enforced.

After finally getting to play two days of live poker I miss having it locally even more than before I took the short trip. If local poker rooms don’t open up in AC or the Philly area soon I could definitely see myself taking another trip down in a month or so.

Here is an article in the local Press of Atlantic City regarding the current state of live poker in AC.

I imagine when Borgata makes a move to open up live poker, the rest of the herd will follow.

I don’t play, but one of my favorite scenes in the movie Rounders is when they show the poker room at the Taj, the place was packed and it may have even been a “school” night.

I think Caesars is wasting an opportunity with the room at Wild Wild West, especially with the WSOP ownership and proximity to the the new sports book. The regional “suit” commented that Caesars doesn’t make much money on live Poker, so I don’t see these guys pushing for reopening tables in AC. As always, follow the money trail.

Spent 5 days in Las Vegas from 9/19-9/24 for nothing but poker. Played mostly cash games at the Venetian ($600 every 30 min high hand bonuses, which I hit once), some cash at Southpoint and Orleans, and tournaments at all 3. The only real issue with the plexiglass is its hard to hear each other, so occasional mistakes made with raises and such. A little hard to see clearly from one end of the table to the other. Otherwise, its all good! Cocktail waitresses aplenty, just no tableside food service. Hand sanitation a must before sitting down after any break. Highly recommend a Vegas poker trip to scratch that itch!

I was going through the same withdrawal as everyone else.

just got back from Vegas - bellagio has a setup that felt pretty safe. Tables sat 8, and we each were in our own plexiglass bubble. There was some room in front to get cards and make bets, but you were protected on the front and sides.

Downside was that you couldn’t hear much because of the masks or see well because at times you are looking through 2-3 layers of glass to see the cards. Otherwise it was great.

The other day I was scouting the internet again for poker updates and found somewhere that AC is actually allowed to open for poker but the state said people would have to play 5 handed. It also said that the AC casinos won’t consider opening up again until they are allowed at least 6 handed tables.

Unless something changes in the near future( in AC or Philly) I will probably take a trip back down to Maryland Live in the soon.
