Another item found at Indian grocery stores.

McCormick has a huge share of the spice market and their prices are sky high compared to what you would pay at an ethnic store. They actually made their own spice bottles at one time, but sold off that division about 10 years ago.

I think I have 5 year old bags of cumin and bay leaves that I picked up at my local Indian grocer.

A second (or third) for Penzey's. Their quality is just so much better than anywhere else.

That's why we buy things in bulkier sizes; toss what's left when it expires and you're still money ahead. And your friendly neighborhood grocer isn't actually turning over turmeric and sumac berries with regularity.

Mason jars. I have a very large fermenting jar that I make sauerkraut in. Now that the household is now down to 2, I decided to get a new kit that uses wide-mouth Mason jars.

I live 4 blocks from the hardware that is known to always have canning supplies. Year round. Not this year. They said they should have them back in January. But... All the beautiful cabbage is now ! Guess I'll try Amazon.

We are finding just the opposite. I even called to see what is up. They are letting in-store shoppers have the "hard to find" wipes, alcohol, bleach and so on even though limiting. I can go in and get these items but not via pick up. They are trying to prevent multiple same households from picking up more than their limited share. I had quite a discussion with them about how stupid this is as the whole idea of pick up is for compromised people as I am not to have to go into the store.

the one thing I STILL can't find, ANYWHERE is Campbell's condensed split pea soup. Yes, I make it from scratch, but I love that soup once in awhile.

I noticed there was no Peter Pan Peanut Butter not one jar of any size or type. Tons of Jiffy and H-E-B store brand. Not that I’m into peanut butter. Diced Canned tomatoes but they had a small supply of the fire roasted plain so I bought 4 cans. I bought 2 small bottles of 70% alcohol. The limit was 2.

My Walmart yesterday was still out of paper towels. I go every few weeks and they must get them at some point but the last few times I've been there the shelf is empty.

This week there were no strawberries.

I thought I'd try ordering from Walmart.com and have my items shipped - until I looked at the prices. For example the two pack of Walmart brand ibuprofen I buy is $3.88 in the store but for the same exact thing to be shipped to me from online it was $7.47. That's ridiculous.

Yes, I've been noticing basic canned goods at our local supermarket is sparse or very few selections. Stuff like Campbell's cream of mushroom or tomato soup is always out.

Even staple canned veggies like canned corn, peas, and string beans have big empty gaps where they usually are.

I can't find jelly jars for canning. The hot peppers are coming in and I need to make jelly soon, Might have to freeze 'em till I can get jars.

Still on the lookout for canned pumpkin. Holidays are coming up.

I will put in a shameless plug for Pendery's (not Penzey's, spelled similar) spices out of Dallas. I order from them 3 or 4 times a year. They have a chili powder called Chiltomaline that rocks. I order it by the pound for sauces, rubs, and, of course, chili.

Thanks. I'll check that out. We've been getting pure ground chile for eons from Santa Cruz Spice in AZ and Jane Butel/Pecos in NM.

I’ll put in a plug for Bolner’s Fiesta spices out of San Antonio. They ship. It’s San Antonio. It doesn’t get any better. Check out their selection of Authentic Mexican spices. They also have whole Vanilla beans. Moderately priced for whole beans.
