Caesars Properties

Currently I am slated to go to Vegas in September for my 30th birthday. I have a room booked at the Flamingo from Wednesday to Thursday. However, I keep checking Caesars rewards and my offers keeps getting better. Right now I am able to stay comped at Planet Hollywood, Linq, Flamingo Obviously, Ballys, Rio, Harrahs, and Paris. I have 3 nights comped at Caesars, but keep checking to see if it will eventually be all 4. With that being said I am trying to find suggestions on whether or not I should rebook my hotel somewhere else or stay at the Flamingo. We will have a couple of us and we like to go to the pool, drink, gamble, listen to live music and of course clubs. Seeing as right now the last two are not happening with maybe a chance of live music returning by September. I am trying to see what everyone suggests for hotel options. (I am also checking the Covid situation and I do know that it is fluid and things could change so please just stick on topic)

 

Rio is unlikely to be open, though I can't rule it out. Linq has the hotel open but not the casino floor, and it's hard to say what'll happen in a month. PH is not open at all except for Miracle Mile, and same disclaimer as for Rio.

 

It's the opposite at Linq. Casino open, hotel not open. I'd move to paris but it depends what you're in to. I usually dislike the vibe at Flamingo. They draw the downtown party crowd types every single time I've walked in the place. They have decent rooms though, but for my tastes, it's one of the worst vibes and group of patrons on the strip, but some people would say the exact opposite. Its a budget/party place, casino is always smokey as hell when I am there, and it seems crowded to me even when it isnt lol

 

If pool factors in quite a bit, then it quickly gets narrowed down to Flamingo or Caesars. The rest, if open, are just holes in the ground with water.

 

I'm seeking comments and input for a dilemma. I've stayed mostly at CET properties in Vegas with only a couple of MGM exceptions over the years. I have a comp reservation at CP in an Octavious Tower room, which has great rooms. Since I lost my Diamond status in 2019, I will have to pay Resort Fees this trip. I just got an offer at Venetian for three Comp nights with basically the same Resort Fees as CP. I normally don't play that much at V/P. But, I did stay at Palazzo once and liked their rooms very much. Since I spend more time at CP, Mirage, Harrah's, Paris and PH, my time at Venetian would be mostly in the room. My meals would be at CET and or MGM properties, since I use my RC's. Being at CP would allow me to access the room more easily. But, if I'm paying them resort fees, which I have never had to do, it sort of pisses me off ( if you know what I mean)! So, any input would give me some motivation either way. Thanks everybody!

 

If the pool is very important to you, I would strongly recommend Caesars Palace over Flamingo. We were at The Flamingo for four days this week and despite trying every day, we were never able to use the pool at all due to glitches with their pool lottery reservation system.

 

If you're into clubs you're probably too young to enjoy the "maturish, older crowd" vibe of Harrah's or Bally's. Another vote for Caesars Palace. Way nicer than Flamingo.

 

Not trying to throw another option out there but if you have an actual offer you can email casino marketing at Cosmopolitan and they might match it. Otherwise my vote is also CP! We just stayed there in July and had a great time!

 

I missed this part, but there is zero chance clubs will be open in September. They're targeting NYE at best. A couple of the dayclubs (Marquee, Wet Republic, and I think Liquid plus one of the Wynn spots) are open as reservation-only venues, but it's very limited capacity and no big-name DJs. It's basically a more expensive version of the cabana experience at regular pools.

However, there is definitely live music. Aria, in particular, has a piano player/singer at Lobby Bar, and then some sort of music (either a small band, a piano player, a guitarist doing covers, or whatever) at Lift Bar every night. No real "concerts", but they're pretty decent. It's somewhat rare these days, though.

 

I can’t speak to the issues of getting into the pools because I haven’t been during the pandemic.

Those issues aside, I have stayed at most CET properties, and, for a 30th birthday trip, I would keep the reservation at Flamingo. The pools at CP are nice, but there’s definitely not much of a party vibe there. Flamingo is a much better time.

I’ve been to Flamingo’s pools in borderline weather, though, and their main pool was freezing cold. If you’re going in late September, you might prefer CP, which has at least one large pool that is heated.

 

OK, responding to this "hijack".

It's sounds like you're doing a "semi" double book, but all of the negatives against none of the positives. You want to stay at Venetian but want to eat (use comps?) at CET or MGM properties?? Doesn't make sense to me. IMHO, play/eat where you sleep, to ensure that you don't "kill a comp".

I would just pay the resort fees at CP Octavius Tower and play/eat at CET. V/P is just giving you a "teaser" offer, and unless you really want to develop a relationship or "burn your bridge", If I were you, I'd stay with CET.

 

OK, here's my $0.02 on the original post.

Where do you expect to play? If you plan to play at CP (notoriously IMHO the tightest casino in the CET Las Vegas family), it doesn't really pay to stay at Flamingo, unless you're playing at a level in which you expect to get back-end comps, in which Flamingo is a better choice because of the "lower" comp rates.

IMHO, live music ain't happening by September.

I posted a TR about "dumbed down" Las Vegas. I'm not necessarily pimpin' my TR (since I'm an old fogey), but there are plenty of younger people who can give you an idea about the vibe.

 

There's definitely some, but it's mostly "a couple guys at a lobby-esque bar". There certainly aren't going to be any real concerts, though.

 

Thanks for your response @DaiLun. It's not CETs fault that I didn't maintain Diamond status. It's just hard to pay those nightly fees after never having to before. In reality, it's more convenient to stay where you play the most. Meals are also more convenient that way as well. I'll never be a V/P convert, just thought about those large rooms as something I would rarely get a comp offer for.

 

Well, be aware that resort fees are V/P are optional. I'm staying there next month and I will not opt-in for the resort fees at check-in. The first thing I will do when I get to the room is check is how well my telephone works as a mobile hotspot. If it's fine or at least fast enough that I can post a TR, I'll leave it. If not, I'll go down and opt-in.

 

I inquired about the RFees. For me, they were not optional. 51.00 incl tax per night!

 

Caesars is much nicer hotel than Flamingo, but we much prefer the vibe of the Flamingo Pool, even though we are all pushing 60. I would confirm the difficulty of getting into the Flamingo Pool. Very iffy unless you would like to purchase a daybed or cabana. We felt sorry for the staff having to deal many many ticked off and disappointed guests. They were handling the conflict very, very well by the way. Also to confirm, Linq casino is open, not hotel. Be more alert than usual, there seems to be many more people of questionable character wandering around, often in groups.

 

The casino is open at Linq...just played there this week.

 

I stand corrected. It just opened a couple days ago, I believe.

 

I have always been able to get complimentary wifi at V/P by using the $20 trick. In over 20 stays there I have always had free wifi. The $20 trick hasn't always scored me a room upgrade but its worked with wifi. I'd say about 50% of the time the clerk just gave me a wifi code after I turned down the resort fee without asking. The other half the time I would politely ask after we'd gone through the offer if it was possible to get wifi access and they've always given me the code for access.
