They should mix in space aliens, cartoon characters, zombies, and muppets in the crowd too.

I gotta say, that is brilliant.

I don't love the cutouts, but as said above, it's the best of a bad situation. I love baseball, and I'm nowhere near a baseball stadium to watch in person, so for me, an empty stadium is better than nothing at all. And the crowd noise thing works surprisingly well.

In watching my beloved St. Louis Cardinals last night I actually liked the piped in crowd noise on tv, and I missed seeing fans behind the plate. I had made fun of the cardboard cutout people but I would have taken that last night. CG fans by Fox? I’m all in!

A coworker of mine is a die hard Dodger fan. He almost talked us into buying cutout seats but apparently they couldn’t guarantee we’d all be “sitting” next to each other behind the plate. Certain stadiums are sending the balls to fans that hit their cutouts, that’s actually pretty cool I think.

I think it would be interesting to have cut-out mouths like speed racer and clutch cargo cartoons and you could have people mouth words for recording and playback at the appropriate time for some “action” in the stands.
Which team leaves tickets 1st for with Flat Stanley or Waldo? .......
As an aside, heard on television today one announcer say it was good to hear the crack of the bat and players talking to one another etc due to no fans. Even cold beer here was mentioned as a good way to help a guy out when shouted at the spouse or kids. Sports IS back!!

I'm watching the Brewers at Cubs game telecast with the generated fans. Kind of cool. They can instantly change fans jerseys, colors etc.

There is Copyright Law about using someone's "likeness " -
so they have to be careful and get " permission " I suppose ?
    .
I was thinking they could generate a SGT PEPPER album cover shot w/ famous
or infamous people in the stands -
" There's Joe Stalin in Pepsi Porch section !.....The 12 Apostle's are in the box seats behind home."

I think so. To alleviate the inevitable mound visit or introducing the pinch hitter.....always a good time to scan the crowds...

On the surface of it I’d take the over. The cut out security guys look buff. I don’t think any are reaching the field. :poke:

[QUOTE="makikiboy, Get this, the giants and A's are charging customers to create a cutout of you that they put in the stands.[/QUOTE]

Now to me the way to do this is to have each games cutouts (or a game series) charges donated to something. I’d pay for my cut-out to go to St Jude’s for the Brewers/Cubbies series. Next series is maybe American Cancer, St Louis Zoo, etc. You get the idea. Or small local volunteer organizations that normally raise their funds by running the food stands (some venues do this).

Our bank received grant money from FHLB to donate to places of our choice - we voted on the local fire departments, EMS & first responder groups that all lost their big fund raisers this year. Normally they have steak feeds, cookouts, car shows etc. (Don’t worry - we donates to food pantries, animal shelters etc over the last year also!).

I can’t believe there wouldn’t be a bunch of smaller volunteer organizations around these big cities that a local committee couldn’t help distribute funds from something like this to. This would be prime marketing material for them also.

The cutouts are real people at least. The White Sox did this for opening day and the money went to charity. I think the fake computer-generated fans are weird, esp since they pop in and out.

The Brewers/Cubs game didn't bother with the cutouts, and it looks even stranger. As silly as the cutouts are, they're better than nothing.

I am watching the Cubs vs Brewers :)poke:) also. I don’t mind the generated fan noise. But hearing that and then seeing no fans is kinda weird. I am not sure I like the generated fans.

Lots of cardboard fans and fake crowd noise at the Rangers game last night. It really wasn't bad. I think they said they are going to put out another 3000, soon. I don't think the fans are paying for it, but I might be wrong about that.

I haven't seen "Rainbow Head" yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if we do.

So they were showing the generated fans on Cubs/Brewers where you were? They didn't have it on our local affiliate, just empty seats behind home plate.
