Capriotti's was just what I needed after last night's debacle. Great sandwich!

After that we went to the outlet mall and hit the Coach store. I got a wallet that was $190 at the Coach store at one of the fancy malls we went to yesterday, only here it was $60.

We then went to the Pinball Museum. Played for almost an hour.

We had four hours to kill but didn't know what to do so we went back to the airport and dropped off the car. Had an interesting experience with Enterprise that I will summarize once I get home and on the computer.

Thanks for following along with us. Will give one final update once we're home.

Thanks for the TR. I choose MB because it’s usually not so “peopley.” Hope that may still be the case in September.

You guys were real troopers. Sorry for the 12 hr lag. I had some cosmo lemon drops catch up to me one trip and was mad at myself for losing precious time. You didn’t lose all your money so you should put that one in the win column.

Safe travels. Looking forward to a summary.

Some spacers (water between drinks) or pedialyte might have helped, live and learn.
    Dry heat still dehydrates.

Sounds like a great time with good eats, fun side trips, and a minimal loss, I'd call it a winning trip.

Ok, landed back in Houston, settled into our own bed and fully recovered. A few random thoughts and observations in closing.

    • I'm glad we rented a car. Even though we only put 150 miles on it, it was great to just leave and go where ever we wanted when we wanted. I only saw a few Uber/Lyft drivers (as recognized by their dash stickers). Cabs were everywhere though. I reserved a premium car through Enterprise which is a Nissan Maxima or equivalent. Well they tried to give us a Infiniti QX50. Umm, no. Told the guy that I needed a car with a trunk so our luggage wouldn't get stolen. They didn't have much else so we settled for a Nissan Altima. Car was gross, 10k miles on it and just awful. I did not feel confident that it was clean and sanitized like you would expect. The Enterprise rep did a once around the car and sent us on our way. Wasn't until we got to Red Rock Canyon that I noticed a LARGE scrape on the front bumper that was not noted on the invoice. Thankfully I sprung for the damage waiver insurance, but still. Lesson learned, do your own walk around. The car had struck something with the right rear wheel and eventually the tire pressure light came on. Had to add air to it almost every day. Turned the car in and they didn't notice the scrape and I didn't say anything about the tire. Used Enterprise before, but probably not in the future. Still though, driving around LV was great. Traffic was light and we found everything we wanted. We went past The STRAT and wow, it turns slumie real quick. Had fun and what an adventure.
    • MB. Never again. Just not for us. I had reasonable expectations and they were not met. The staff just wasn't there in enthusiasm or professionalism. Very disappointing. Our room was nice but it was showing it's age. It was clean and presentable, but if you wanted to get picky, there were plenty of faults. View was great and the AC worked really well, better than our previous room at Aria. Walking from MB through Luxor and Excaliber... meh. We were surprised at how awful both of those properties were. How do those two even stay in business? Next time we will try a non-MGM property that is more in the center of the strip.
    • People. No crowds anywhere. A lot of places we went, we ended up being either first in the door, or the only people there. Was nice for us as we don't like crowds. Even the different shopping areas we went to weren't crowded at all.
    • Open businesses. So many things were closed. Stupid Fat Tuesdays (I'm not mad at them or their delicious product), there was only ONE that was open that we found. Walked by numerous FT that were closed and looked like they hadn't been open in a long time. Lots of restaurants and stores also closed.
    • Gambling didn't do much for us and the slots at MB were ice cold. Hit about $80 on the Billions machine which I really enjoyed but the rest didn't show any love to us. Aria had us up quite a bit on our last trip. We were ready to play but just weren't feeling it. MB's slot area is really spread out too... wasn't a fan of the lay out. Most of the table games were closed, though each game had one open station, though people at MB were not gambling at table games from what we saw.
    • We will plan another trip, later this year or early next year as we still want to hike more in Red Rock Canyon and tour the Hoover Dam when they open back up. We had a really good time trying some things off of the Strip. Speaking of the Strip, I don't remember it being so disgusting last time. We walked from MB to the Wynn going through almost every casino, taking all the different sky bridges and escalators connecting everything... grossness everywhere. LV needs a deep cleaning!.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed our trip report as much as we did sharing it with you. These are really fun to do and I enjoy sharing the experience, as well as reading everyone else's trip report. Stay safe, have fun, AND DRINK WATER!!!!!!! ;)

Oh, a SWA 737-800 seats 175 people. Our flight from LV to Houston had about 30 people on it last night.

    That’s a nice flight home!

Looks like our flight to LAS today will have at least 60 (give or take a few for the business select spots) people - hubs is A58 after not being able to get the app to cooperate yesterday when he was trying to check in. During normal circumstances, our flights to LAS were completely full as BHM is typically a connector from MCO so there tends to be a handful of people that stay on. Maybe we will get lucky and have a light flight today and on our return Sunday.

I agree about MB. Not our favorite. We still visit the shoppes at MB because we love the pizza joint (Slice) but we usually just eat and leave.

Thank you for sharing your trip report! Can you be more specific what you mean about the Luxor being awful? I have watched a few walk-thrus of the Luxor on Youtube, and all of them say that the property was very clean and well taken care of, so wondering what it was that you had seen.

    Thanks.

The wife and I have done two very fun activities like this you may enjoy. You can ride bikes at Red Rock or Kayak from the base of the Dam to about 12 miles downstream. Both excursions have a company pick you up at your hotel and supply all the equipment. Very fun and memorable. While both are great, I would more highly recommend the Kayak trip.

I don't think theme hotels age gracefully. Inside was really boring at dated looking. From the outside, it almost looked like it was closed. The place didn't have a pulse as we walked through... maybe it gets better later on but with what we saw, not a place we would want to stay or even gamble in.

Thanks for your TR...it's nice to have a first hand perspective of the status quo in LV....I'm getting the sense that with the reduced crowds in the casinos, any flaws or shortcomings in/around the hotel/casino seem to be more empirically evident...
