Which masks are most comfortable?

Thanks for the input folks. I've ordered a gaiter, the ear mask extenders, and will probably order a a cloth ear mask as well. I'll experiment with them all out there

 

I’ve ordered an embarrassingly large number of cloth masks to find what works for us. Links below to my two favorites from the bunch.

Vida masks have adjustable ear loops and nose wire. After multiple washes, they’re holding up well. I will caution that the lead time was a few weeks when I ordered but that was in early April.

Everlane are officially my go to mask. The ear loops ended up being a little tight for my husband (5’10” with average sized noggin). I find thus mask very comfortable (5’5” also average noggin).

I have several that a friend's mom hand-sewn, they work great and don't fog up my glasses It has little loops that go one over each ear, and it stays pretty snug.

And I can wear them for hours at a time, as is the case when I'm at work.

Tried a bandana at first when this shit went down.... nope!

 

I have something similar from my work - it works great if the ear loops start buggin (rare).

 

These are the options I tried,
left: ordered from amazon, have dual valved exhaust holes that help quite a bit with the fogging. and a Velcro neck strap that helps w. fitting, also metal in plastic nose clip for adjusting. (also replaceable carbon 5 layer inner filters). tended to slip a little off my nose but I like the techno ninja look.

bottom, simple cloth (2 layer) mask, best option for eating, drinking, or smoking because it can be pulled down to rest on chin.

right: free provided simple blues at all casino entrances now, can be combo-ed with the simple mask (a bit complicated but feels safe), and nice to toss and get fresh ones.. Might be the freest easy breathing option.

Also pro tip, if you smoke don't slide it back on before you exhale. yuck...
and get ready to struggle to hear people talking through their masks..

I wear a simple surgical one at work for 12 hours. I try to get 2-3 days out of it. It is comfortable but sometimes bothers my ears. I hate when I can smell my breath in it. Yuck. There’s are some head/neck pieces with buttons and headbands with buttons so you don’t have to loop it around the ears. I’ve ordered a neoprene type mask with a valve. I’m waiting for it to come in. I just want to feel like I’m not suffocating. I’m a tad claustrophobic. Not bad but anxiety starts if I feel like I can’t breathe. I’ve seen some masks with the valve/hole for a straw??? Integrity but I guess no different than having to constantly pull it up and down to take a sip.

 

I had a few moments of that stuffy claustrophobia, also we both experienced "ghost mask", where it feels like ones on your face when there isn't- in the room, going to sleep.
It's nice every entrance had free simple masks, grabbed a few to have extras, and you could dump and switch daily, or even at every casino.

I found hanging by a corner of the new Fremont entrance barriers (chain link fencing), let me have a relaxing smoke and a few puffs of fresh air w/o catching dirty looks.

I use the surgical masks at work and I'm comfortable with them. I haven't found a cloth alternative I like and probably won't until they do more than one size fits all because the fit is usually too snug and they won't stay on. I do wear glasses and I find if you adjust the strip at the top fogging isn't really a problem.

 

I have four different types of masks. None of them are real comfortable for me. I wear hearing aids in both ears and glasses they sometimes get tangled because sometimes I lower the mask to breath better when I'm walking with no one around.

 

Bought the Eagle Eyes face shield and it arrived yesterday. It technically fits over glasses but it's a very snug fit depending on your frames and the size of your face. Definitely a bit extreme for a face shield to wear in public but who knows what will be normal these days?

 

Thanks for this info. I ended up getting an extender and combining with a standard surgical mask. No more ear discomfort and it was easy to use.

 

None are truly comfortable and that includes 02 masks. I tend to wear a surgical one even though I have a cloth one. Mrs flyguy has two types, one of which is cloth with a filter inside.

 

Has any one tried the masks with the straw holes? Think it would be a lot easier than pulling down your mask to take a drink. Some have the piece of material with Velcro that closes off the hole when you are not using the straw.
Going to order one to try and also looking at the ones with zippers.
If you have used either kind would be very interested in your opinion of these masks.

 

We finally got a disposable box of cheap ones. But, I don’t wear those.I wear this. In the beginning in March, I picked up 6 of these washable, protective layered thingee s for $20.

Now? Just In my local, neighbourhood, on line group, there are endless, artistic variations!

 

Since whatever we don't want to take in might be on the outside of a mask ...

 

Thanks for the anti fogging info! I do pinch the wire on the top of my surgical masks, but still some fogging seems to occur. The cloth ones don't seem to fit tight enough on me.....and mine don't have filters, so I am staying with the surgicals.

I've found that if you can position the mask far enough up on your face such that the bottom of your glasses overlap the top of the mask ever so slightly that the fogging is drastically reduced, if not eliminated.
