    My Trip Report

Ahh, Vegas. When I last left you on March 5th I could have never imagined what was soon going to transpire. As everyone knows Covid-19 brought the city and world to a grinding halt. I had 3-4 trips booked and watched as one by one they were canceled. I wasn’t sure if I’d be back this year, but as May started to wind down we all received word that Vegas was reopening. I immediately started planning a trip. At first it started as a 3 day quick hitter from July 3rd to 6th, then slowly that morphed into a 7 day trip from June 28th to July 5th. I’m excited, apprehensive and not without concern, not for my health, but will this be any fun? Will this be “Vegas”!?

I danced around with reservations, but have settled on the first two nights comped at The Cosmo followed by three comped at Caesars and then finishing off at Sahara on a comp offer from a heavy play day I had earlier this year. The Cosmo was a generous match offer I received from Kevin here on VMB, thanks again.

The plan for this trip is simple, relax. The month of May and first half of June were insanely busy at work and quite honestly I just need to get away and clear my mind. Some good food and pool time, and just a bit of gambling of course. I have $200 in freeplay with Mlife and over $1000 in matchplay chips to burn at The D and GG along with some more freeplay. I may make a run at the Four Queens promo, time will tell. I have gone as far as I see worth while with CET this year (Diamond Plus) and don’t plan to play with them much, if at all. I’m sure this will ding me, but I’m ok with that.

I have plans to dine at the new Bugsy and Myers to burn my Diamond Dinner, Andiamo to use my food credit and comps and Mon Ami Gabi at least once for breakfast. Other than that I will have to see how I feel, I typically try to fast 16-20 hours a day with just a single meal. Alcohol and edibles might cause me to fall off that wagon though, at least my intentions are good.

Flight was about half full and uneventful, although landing in the 50 mph gusts was a bit exhilarating.

Uber took a while, at first no cars where found so I started to make other plans (bus) but after another try I was connected with a driver. $13.75 to the Cosmo, and a great conversation. Perfect.

Check in was quick and the cleaning between guests was a nice touch. Terrace studio on the 22nd. I had hoped for a bit higher, but it was free so I’m not complaining.

Tagging along for the ride! Especially interested at the Sahara-part, I think it’s a property that, despite its location, deserves some love.

I had a problem with Uber too a few weeks ago. You might try Lyft as well, I had better luck with them.

So I ended up crashing early Sunday night, I’m here 7 days, I can afford to sleep.

    Monday 6/29
I grabbed a sandwich from Eggslut (delicious) and made my way downtown via the Deuce to collect matchplays and freeplay. Played at The D for a bit but wasn’t feeling it. Left up $30. Can confirm they are doubling Matchplay as well as freeplay. Then went over to GG. Picked up Allegiant matchplay and decided to play my freeplay at the bar. Turned $100 into $300 and then turned that into $550 at the roulette table.

After a successful stop at GG I decided to check the Plaza kiosk for any offers I might have, surprisingly I had $25 in FP and $5 in food credit. Turned the freeplay into $30 and ate a muffin at the coffee bar, nothing exciting.

Ventured down to NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, my favorite in Vegas if that’s something that interests you. It’s a 1.8 mile round trip walk from the Plaza, it was a beautiful morning and around 80 degrees. Probably wouldn’t be enjoyable in 105 degree afternoon heat.

On my way back I peeled off and played at the Downtown Grand. Normally I wouldn’t, but the DDB progressives were massive. $2300+ RF and $612 Aces with kicker. I didn’t hit either but I had one heck of a run. Over the course of 3 hours I managed to turn $70 into $401. I hit Aces twice, had my first SF in over a year (please don’t ask why I held the cards I did on this hand, it was shortly before I realized I had one too many “gin rocks”) and hit many many more non premium quads. It was a fun session!

After I stumbled out of DG I made my way to Project BBQ to burn some food credit with The D/GG. With the D Grill still closed this was the best option remaining for a 3pm feast. I was impressed, very good food! I had rib tips and a meat bowl with a portion of brisket, pork and chicken.

I tried getting an Uber at Golden Nugget, there were no drivers available and after 20 minutes of trying and waiting I decided to take the bus back, which was fine. I never expected Uber to be this bad, based on a tip posted above I’ll try Lyft next time.

When I got back to the Cosmo I decided to play for a bit, so far I had no played them and felt terrible about it. I just couldn’t get comfortable, it was so busy, and it seemed every machine I wanted to play was taken or in close proximity to a gaggle of non/semi non mask wearing early 20 somethings shouting and cussing. Normally this wouldn’t bother me much, but I was tired and getting a bit cranky. I would move and they (or another group) seemed to follow, I decided to call it. Absolutely nothing exciting to write about. Cashed out even, or within a few dollars. So ultimately I essentially no played The Cosmo, which I’m certain will put an end to any future invitations. I will gladly pay to stay here again though, I love the rooms and the resort as a whole, I just couldn’t get comfortable in the casino. Apparently I’m 36 going on 75.

    Tuesday 6/30

I woke up super late, called down for an extra hour and grabbed some Hattie B’s. YUM!

Heading to Caesars Palace to check in shortly, Octavious King booked but I’ll try for an upgrade. Thinking some pool time this afternoon and possibly dinner at Busgy and Meyers this evening.

Sorry to hear that, did you notice many other players around town without masks/not being enforced by casinos?

No, Cosmo was the busiest and least enforced I’ve been too.

That's unfortunate. I hoped the governor's order would change things at Cosmo.

And nice pull with the 89 of hearts!

    Keep the hits coming!

Not the news I wanted to hear about Cosmo, as I’m checking in there tomorrow!

Cosmo just seems to be a serial offender at this point. Think I’ll steer clear completely on my next visit unless they really start changing. And that’s a shame because I really like it there.
