Recommended Host at the D?

Looking for recommendations for a host at the D for a video poker player. Probably someone other than the super-star host there, since he probably has more than enough customers already.

If you add a quick bit on why you like him or her, that would be helpful. I guess I am most interested in room upgrades, as I don't recall seeing any mentions about extra food comps coming from hosts. Also VERY important, is one that returns at least 95% of the emails/phone calls. The lack of returned messages is my host pet peeve.

 

I'm not sure if their hosts have totally returned or not. I haven't stayed there but after my last trip to DT I played at the D and GG a fair amount and was emailed by a host shortly after my trip. She worked with me to schedule (and then reschedule) trips in April/May that ultimately cancelled when they closed. I've tried reaching her for about a week here as I'm considering switching to the D or GG instead of DTG in a couple weeks but she hasn't gotten back with me. Hopefully it just means she's super busy, but there isn't an auto-respond or anything on her email so I'm not sure what's going on.
Anyone else having similar experiences?

 

For me, recommending/referring a host is very difficult if I don't know you personally.

You may be a wonderful guy/gal and bring lots of play to the host/property, but on the other hand, you may be a PITA to deal with, and a host knows you by your referrals as much as your play.

Just my view/opinion.

On my last visit to the D a few weeks ago, my host was Paula Burrier. She reached out to me before my visit, had extra ONE club cards ready for me if needed. She seemed to make time for everyone during the reopening event and have a drink with most clients from what I could tell. She was very responsive to text/email during the stay.

I'm betting that some kind VMB resident here, will "go out on a limb" and post information on a host that they have/know, that I might be happy with, and "risk", their "reputation".

Thanks for the info. Now that I see the name, I remember he is the one I was referring to, as likely having too much business already, so he is the one I'd rule out.

To refine what I ask looking for, I have a list of host names already, so I am not looking for a name of one, per se. Rather than randomly calling on one on the list, I thought I might just ask if any VP player (for example, advice from a slot player, who has a host that would be looking for someone who would easily lose thousands on a 93% slot machine, wouldn't be a good fit for me) who has a host at the D that they are happy with, and might tell me which one, and why they like him/her.

 

AT GG and The D I've been averaging $5,000 VP coin in per day, with some $10,000 days. Last year this had a couple hosts pursuing me, but their interest has waned. I don't know how much you play, but would be interested if you find a host interested in VP players. I can generally get Corner Kings at the D by seeing an on duty random host. Those GG rooms are pretty small, and I'd love to score some suite upgrades. If I mange to stumble over a good host, I'll let you know. I'm guessing that any host that likes me, would like you.

 

I've had two hosts at the D and GG. One just booked me rooms, the one now booked a limo ride from the airport and a little extra. Only room I do not get comped is the D suite. In my experience, there is never a communication issue but sometimes email exchanges take a few days.

 

One is not in the league to be handled by a Director of Business Development and Buzz Marketing (which is the equivalent of a higher-level VP of player development who oversees lower-level hosts) unless one has or could realistically have a five-digit (likely, $40k and up) credit line at that casino that gets heavily exercised/depleted nearly every visit. Also, a healthy four-digit ADT helps. Alternatively, be a known, popular, and heavily-marketable member of the burgeoning Vegas YouTube/vlogger community. You are not going to have Richard as your host unless you are extremely good for business -- and that has been the case everywhere he has worked for the majority of his 25+ years in Vegas.

Back to the topic (or my best attempt). $10k of daily VP is roughly $200 of daily theo (if we use 2% hold as a happy medium). @wasilla brought forth an excellent observation about how that kind of action no longer holds the interest of player development at D/GG/Circa. I have also noticed my comps waning a bit even as I have enjoyed increased play at the D -- or, at least not quite matching up (though I could blame an unfortunate low-theo, higher-loss drop-in day on table games for keeping my ADT low). We have been speculating evidence in recent months of play at both D and GG being merged together to generate offers for both places if one plays at both places. For example, if you play a ton at the D, but only a tiny bit at GG, you might have been better off leaving GG alone. Also keep in mind the recent renovations upstairs at the D (showroom taken out, BarCanada built, touchups on the sportsbook area, new higher-limit slots area) and that Circa is being built. Costs have to be trimmed from somewhere. All of that suggests to me that player development thresholds with D/GG/Circa have significantly risen. Whereas a player might have been a hosted player with $5k daily VP coin-in, a player might now be just under the "hosted" line with $4-5k of slot coin-in. That's almost the bare minimum to have a "real" (executive) host with CET.

It can never hurt to just call in and hope to get a host-on-duty on the phone and have them look over your play to gauge where you stand.

 

Richard Wilk will take on a $100 per hand player. I know him, have been hosted by him, and he told me $100 per hand is fine. He might not spend a lot of time, but he’ll get you comped upfront if you can prove your playing history. He does some CET properties also.

Unless something has changed recently, and what has in fact changed recently probably makes him even more open to smaller players.

 

That's interesting. All of my stays there put me around $600 per bet and he wouldn't directly host me. Any email I sent him was re-directed to my current host there instead. My current host is good and no complaints from me. But I was hoping that Richard would've been my assigned host to add more to the wow factor when staying there Great guy though.

 

Probably because you already are hosted at the D. I can add whatever additional details you want, but let's take that off line. Not everything is as it appears in life, or this specific situation either.

 

So a host did find me while I was playing at GG. Turns out that another host had claimed me even though I never worked with her. My new host is her replacement. I don't do hosts much, and don't plan on posting a new hosts name here. If you are still interested zignerlv, pm me. She knows I'm referring a fellow VMB VP player and is good with it.

 

Paula is my host as well. She's always been very responsive -- really proactive -- and I like her personally as well.

 

I play mostly slots at The D with some VP and I don't know The D nearly as well as I know Wynncore, but if you are generally getting Corner King Suites at the D via a random host my guess is Paula might be assigned to you. She has some very big players. Again I don't know The D as well but I think it is Richard, then Paula, then other hosts.

 

I may have misspoke Flowers. I've never gotten a suite at the D. They have slightly larger rooms with a king bed that has a sitting area that I can usually get just by talking to an on duty D host before checking in. I am not a big player, I just play a lot.

 

This is pretty much me. I am a red chip player on craps but will grind for 8 hours a day. I always get at least a corner king room at the D or GG suite comped upfront.

 

No worries; I knew the kind of room you meant. *I* misspoke when I added the word "suite." Those rooms I understand are very nice and Paula shared with me that some players who could get suites actually prefer those corner rooms.

What I learned from my host at Wynncore and that many VMBers know is that playing a lot can make you a "big" player as you are putting the time/coin-in in. Not from Paula but from someone else at The D I learned -- 3 people removed -- what the basic theo is associated with some of the The D hosts. My guess is that with your level of play and theo you'd definitely quality for a host at The D, and especially now with Covid-19, even in the face of potentially higher comp thresholds because of Circa. Again, many VMBers are much more knowledgeable than I am about The D but I have a decent amount of experience there now, going back about a year, albeit primarily as a slot player. And the experience has been good.
