    Hi Everyone,

I am excited to read the posts on here and share our love of Las Vegas. I just had my 12th trip to vegas a few weeks ago for reopening night at the D and also at Harrah’s when they reopened. What a great experience, a great time as always and will be back next month for my birthday at Mirage (hopefully if open).

I hope everyone is doing well despite all the challenges lately.

    Cheers

    Welcome!

    Omaha (area) too.

Back when things were more or less normal I was a semi-regular at the local Ameristar and Horseshoe .

Thanks everyone! Great to see the Omaha folks. It is a small world! I really like the new sports book at the Horseshoe too.

LOL, do we dare play the name game or ... ... ?

We've prolly seen each other at the casinos, at least.

I know we have lurkers from Omaha who never post as well, I am acquainted with two of them.

Jesus, I am in the Omaha area too. Why so many of us?

Anyways, I used to go to Harrahs and Ameristar in CB A LOT and would play craps for 3-4 hour sessions usually on one of my days off work. Used to be a routine to have dinner at Amerisports then craps at Harrahs or Ameristar maybe both. If I got a late start then it’d be Harrahs.

Now if I go more than 3-4 times a year it’s a lot.

Well, the city proper is about 1/2 million and the surrounding area is around a million, so, statistically, there should be many of us who enjoy Las Vegas and gaming.

Even though we don't have real gaming on the Nebraska side of the river (Keno does not count, in my not so humble opinion) we do have some semi-decent casinos on the Iowa side. I'm sure you've noticed the license plates on the cars parked there. :) It's not Las Vegas by any means, but can be fun. (Or at least was before the Covid hit the fan. It seems very blaaaaahh since the Grand Reopening.)

I am hoping to go to Vegas in late July or early August. If it doesn’t workout may do a staycation in Omaha or KC and take a bigger than normal budget to the casinos and go eat at Spencer’s or J.Gilberts in Omaha.

This is the first time in decades when I have absolutely no Las Vegas plans scheduled. I assume we're probably gonna do at least part of the family over the holidays, but nobody has brought it up yet.

As for local restaurants, I think that the Omaha area has a lot of extremely good under-the-radar places, mainly located in smaller towns just outside of Omaha. Places like Farmer Brown's in Waterloo, Pink Poodle in Crescent and Around The Bend (I think that's the name of it, I can drive you to it but not totally sure of the name) just southwest of here. Excellent food and very decent prices too.

Great to see all the Nebraska folks on here. Hello all the way to GI. It’s great now that Omaha has 3 airlines with non-stops to Las Vegas. I am trying Allegiant for the first time in a few weeks. Usually fly Southwest.

Back before 9/11, America West used to have a great and cheap red-eye to and from Las Vegas from Omaha. We used to take a normal morning flight out and then the red-eye back, 'cuz you essentially got another full day there. Unfortunately, right after 9/11 it was gone, never to return, and for a long time Southwest was the only regular nonstop between OMA and LAS. Hopefully the competition to Southwest will continue after the Covid situation settles down.
