I had to ponder this for a couple of minutes.

Being the degenerate gambler that I am, I always assumed that it was the gambling that I missed. It’s not. After watching the Cosmo video, it dawned on me....I miss the liveliness....

What do you miss the most?

Kinda just the whole package. Cruising around and finding great local eats, playing some VP and having someone bring me bueno beers, the lights and chaos, then being able to get away from that for a while on the course or in the spa or out on a hike.

I would agree with missing the liveliness. I was hesitant to book a trip too soon to the opening, but seeing that video made me excited to get back. I got a gambling fix Memorial weekend up in Deadwood and being there reminds my why I just LOVE Vegas so much. There really is nothing like it anywhere. I can't wait to get back, but I am still going to wait until more places open up.

It's something similar. The potential of a new and different adventure experience. Every time.

    And the gambling, of course.

I miss the gambling, "free" drinks, and knowing that calories don’t count in Vegas. But the thing I miss the most is the anticipation leading up to the trip! That's especially true after being in solitary confinement the past few months.

I definitely miss the liveliness, I love gambling, but there is something about gambling in my favorite places in Vegas that just takes it to the next level compared to my local casinos.

Ultimately, it has to be a few hours each day in the casino. That's the one thing that Vegas has that we get nowhere else. Sure, the gambling subsidies everything and it's one of the best eating cities around, and it has good golf and some outdoor stuff. But if some combo of food and golf, scenery and outdoor adventures, is the call, then we go elsewhere.

The people watching and the ability to not feel guilty over-eating or over-drinking at any time of day. Not really a gambler so I don’t miss that, but the Vegas people watching is second to almost none.

The porn slappers! LOL No, not really ...but it's still part of the whole Vegas experience that makes Vegas unique.:kill:

Although, what I miss the most about Vegas is that pretty much everything is open 24/7 on the strip and Fremont St. so there's never a dull moment. Most other cites that I visit are often dead, after the sun goes down.

Getting up early—even if a bit hung over—and taking my traditional strip hike with casinos on each side and debauchery everywhere.

For many years I started at the Imperial Palace (loved the suites with the giant round bathtub) and would walk north to Spring Mountain Road—used to be just past the Sands, now it's to the waterfall at the Wynn, cross the street—used to have to dodge traffic, now it's across the bridge, go past the FSM and up to the second floor of TI and down past the sports book—check some odds and lines, then out the door, past Mirage, Caesar's, Bellagio (Dunes before 92 or so) to the City Center and cross the street or bridge to PH (Aladdin back in the day) and then back north to the IP.

For about 10 years or so it was indeed a hike because I would try to do every set of stairs on the overpasses two or three times. Age has slowed me down but I'm really looking forward to that walk in August.

I miss it all. The planning & anticipation. The gourmet meals. Playing slots to the wee hours of the morning while listening to whatever great music is blasting in the casino. My casino friends. Watching the cute & fugly hookers in action. I love the screams of exhilaration when someone wins a jackpot. Sometimes it’s only a $300 but the rush they got & the energy they throw off. So fun!

The ability to get away from it all. When I'm in Vegas I don't care (much) about work, home, husband, family, pets, bills, chores, other people's needs, etc. It's the one place I can go solo and not worry about anything at home or here or anything else. I'm carefree and just being with people I enjoy and doing whatever I feel like doing from one minute to the next. Sometimes that is lazing around in the giant king bed all alone, watching something stupid on TV until mid-afternoon. Other times it's joking and gambling with friends. Other times it is meeting new people and making new friends I will meet up with again next time.
